Off-campus dining can be a treat and is always a welcome break from college food. There are a few gourmet restaurants around Centre's campus, which is fine, because most eateries cater to a college student's budget. Students generally have the same favorites-the Guad, Freddie's, Applebee's)-but agreeing on one can be difficult. Some students' favorite dishes are the fajita nachos at the Guad, eggplant parmesan at Freddie's, and the happy-hour priced chicken quesadillas at Applebee's. Fast food wise, Danville has many, many options, most of which are open late.
Off-campus dining also provides great opportunities to hang out with friends and is an important part of women's Greek recruitment. The welcoming of freshmen by Greek women has almost evolved into sport, and as a freshman, getting invited to multiple weekend meet-and-greet dinners is common. For girls interested in rushing, or just meeting upperclass women, these dinners are essential and fun. Recruitment dinners for Greek men tend to be more low-key, more likely is the trip to Lexington's Hooters for wings. While the selection of off-campus restaurants may not be the best, the fun you'll have just being off campus for an hour is well worth the trip and is a guaranteed good time. Few students turn down an opportunity to head to the Guad with a group of friends, even if they're broke.
