5 College Sophomore

Academic Flexibility: COCC has early and late classes so it is easy to go around your personal schedule. The school is always busy with people going to class early or late so the school will never feel dark or abandoned at night.

5 College Sophomore

Online Courses: All off the online classes still feel very connected at COCC because almost all of the online classes have a reflection or blog page where students can talk to each other on the class website. The registration is the same for any class so it makes it very convenient and easy.

4 College Sophomore

Career Services: COCC is very community based so people that live in Bend are always centered around the campus because that campus does a lot of events and community work.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: All of the professors I have had at COCC are amazing. I have even heard really good things about professors that I haven't had yet. All the professors are so understanding and much more relaxed than other places. They have so many classes available at COCC and they all have only 20 to 25 students per class.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: COCC has a lot of class options for people so it is very likely for a student to find something they are passionate about and turn that into a career path.

4 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: At COCC, you have the option of being enrolled at the community college your first two years and get the same education as people who are enrolled at OSU Cascades. Students have the ability to stay on the same campus for the full four years because you can be enrolled at OSU Cascades but take classes that only have 20 or 25 students in it. People who are getting there majors have the possibility to get their degree in a community college setting which I think is really important.

Overall Experience: I have taken a full year at COCC and I have had all good professors! Everyone is Bend is so nice and relaxed and makes the college feel more comfortable. The campus is really beautiful, and doesn't feel dated. It is pretty busy for a community college so parking can be hard but there is always a spot open somewhere, it just might not be right by your class. All the professors are super flexible and I have had a great experience so far at COCC.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: I was placed in Counseling theories this last term it was hard as first Addiction class, also my instructor for that class would not give me the extra knowledge that I was needing to understand everything. She would tell me to refer back to the book I read the book I still do not get it but still will not recognize my need for help. There are a vast array of classes to attend but I have not got to explore the fun things I been focus on my field mostly. Most of the class styles i like and the teachers are more informative and tell you exactly what they expect so that you can provide that to them most of my classes are like 20 people some are smaller though.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: I have a lot of options once my degree is finished. It has high value cause every body in the community knows that the director of the program expects excellence. The have career placement as well as help you f ind a place to due your practicum work and will go abiove and beyond for you if that is what you are needing. That had a huge career fair yesterday had over 50 great employers from the community there and it happens every year. i have not attended the career center just starting my courses at this time.

Academic Experience: I have a ton of human service type classes, counseling classes, health class, and various other and of course my prerequisites. We have a a wonderful and strict academic adviser who has ran the Addiction Studies program for like 12 years, She is very tough but would you want a whole bunch of drug counselors out there that did not learn the skills needed to be a good treatment counselor. It a highly structured program, it has a high workload lots of reading, research, papers, presentations, and attendance is graded. The curriculum is base off the necessary requirements to get your CACD 1. It has extensive classes that might have two to three more units to fulfill in order to get the skills necessary to go into the field. They have a an above average faculty for a community college and lots of extra circulars that have to do with career like Multi-Cultural training, suicide prevention, sexual assault awareness, and a Addiction Studies club that meets weekly, I will be starting my practicum next term they try to help place you if possible but required to have over 3000 hours of hands on experience to get your Associate's degree.

Overall Experience: I have really enjoyed going back to school, I was scared at first cause I had not been in school since 1999 when I graduated high school. I was just fearing nothing it was easy for me to get right in there and get good grades even though it had been so long. I love most of my instructors I have had here. They have a lot of college actives to participate in. I have really been enjoying returning to school to further my education in the Addiction studies Field, I feel like I am not just sitting stagnate anymore and making the correct decisions to place myself in a career I will really enjoy.

Academic Flexibility: There are some weekend and night time courses available, but typically there is not multiple times for the same class that will work with your other scheduled courses and personal life. I usually end up having to rearrange my schedule. I have not found an issue regarding this, but I can understand how it may be difficult for others. I have not transferred any credits, however, I am receiving a transfer degree which is supposed to make transitions between most colleges fairly easy.

Online Courses: I have only had one online course. I personally did not like this as much as in-class lectures and learning activities. There isn't interactions between students and the interaction between the instructor and the student is limited. The workload is approximately the same, but there is a lot more time flexibility.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: The student to staff ratio is what I have enjoyed the most at COCC. Professors are always very helpful and my academic advisor has been there to guide me with a variety of situations. Staff are very friendly and definitely have a more laid-back approach to teaching. The only complaint I have is that GE classes do tend to fill up quickly and waitlists become long.

4 College Senior

Academic Experience: I briefly covered my experience with the academics at COCC in the overall experience section. I feel that you get a quality education from COCC and if you are planning to transfer to a university the course work will prepare you to continue your education.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: I have grown up in Central Oregon so I might be slightly biased, but Bend is a wonderful community and Central Oregon Community College staff and students reflect this. As far as community college campuses go, COCC is beautiful. The Cascade Mountain range is the view from practically every building. A majority of my professors and instructors are more then qualified to be teaching their subjects and most chose to work as an educator at COCC because they want to live in Bend. There is definitely all four seasons in Bend, but to me this just adds to the variety of activities you can partake in. It is a short drive to Portland, the Cascade Lakes, Mt. Bachelor and Mt. Hood, and the coastline. Despite the stigmatization associated with going to community college, I wouldn't change the fact that I started my college education here. I believe the academics are the same in most circumstances compared to those of a university because the GE requirement courses for COCC and OSU-cascade GE courses are taught together. Essentially, you are getting the exact same education for a less expensive tuition rate.

Overall Experience: Some classes are not offered every term which can cause problems in completing on time

Overall Experience: Menu composition and analysis is a great class which prepares you for going about and obtaining your own restaurant. And I have noticed lately, the certification and Culinary degree are highly recommended and/or required to obtain better paying jobs.

3 College Senior

Academic Flexibility: I have an adviser who has worked with me from the beginning but wasn't real savvy with the culinary program and my courses so it took additional time and meetings with other instructors to get the correct classes.

5 College Senior

Academic Experience: Great culinary facility and chef instructors. People care about one another and in the success of all students.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: Going back to school literally saved my life. School returned myself confidence and to believe in my ability to succeed. I am 55 years young and will complete Culinary Art Degree and certification Spring 2016. I am extremely proud of myself.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I've had experience with an array of professors and it's been an interesting experience to encounter different types of teaching methods. I've learned what I enjoy and won't I don't enjoy learning about which helped me concrete my major choice.

4 College Freshman

Academic Flexibility: The academic schedule is pretty darn flexible. There are a lot of times available, classes are small, and many wait-listed students make it into classes if they show up for the first week.

2 College Freshman

Career Services: I haven't dropped by the CAP center for anything other than testing and advising. They may be helpful, I'm not sure. Networking is poor and there just aren't enough high level programs for you to really be qualified enough for a great career.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Some of the courses are solid but a lot of them have been painful to get through. Professors are hit or miss.
