3 College Sophomore

Technology: The computers in the library are very old and slow. The availability is okay but sometimes hard to find.

4 College Freshman

Technology: Even though it might take a few minutes to connect to the network, there are multiple computer labs to use and you are even able to check a laptop out from the library. Tech support is always willing to help with any problems you could encounter.

5 College Student

Technology: fast internet, wireless and wired in dorm, wireless everywhere, plentiful computer labs just upgraded and running Windows7, access to Office, Adobe Creative Suite; CatLink portal makes it easy to get to grades, degree audit, email, Blackboard, all the information and services you need; very helpful IT help desk;

3 College Freshman

Technology: The computer labs at Catawba College are plentiful and accessible 24/7. During midterms and finals they do get very crowded but not enough so to cause problems. Plus the amount of pages allowable per student per semester are more than enough to print all papers needed for classes. The wi-fi is a little slow at times, but they are working on improving it.

4 College Sophomore

Technology: The school recently upgraded the majority of the computers on campus to Windows 7 Professional (they were all Windows XP *blahh*) so now the computers are MUCH MORE faster.

Every student gets 450 free pages a semester to print, and we have two 24hr computer labs, along with a few other labs in certain other buildings on campus. We do have a color printer, and you can use the copier to make copies for about 10cent a page.

For the most part, the school's wireless network is pretty reliable; however, sometimes it has problems (like any other school's network). There are two 24-hour computer labs, which are never really crowded except during midterms and finals weeks. Every student should bring a computer to school with them, if possible. Laptops are the best idea.

Computer services should be your last resort. They know computers more than the average person, but they can also really mess up your computer. You could bring a computer to them to remove a virus, and then realize when you get the computer home that they had taken off part of their own program (the one the school has you put on to get into the network).
