Overall Experience: My college experience has been great so far. I was worried that going to a small liberal arts school where I didn't know anyone was going to negatively affect my freshman year, but it made so much better. I got rediscover myself without any baggage from the past. All the friends I made had similar goals to mine and the professors aspired for us to reach our goals. College so far has truly been a life changing experience.

Overall Experience: I love where I go to school. The classes are small, the professors are attentive, communication is great here, faculty know you by name even if you've met them once, the campus is small enough to get to know everyone (and make it to class on time), and the school is really generous with financial aid and providing students opportunities to get the most out of their educations.

Off-Campus Housing: The college does not affiliate with any off-campus housing and it is relatively difficult to live off campus unless you are over 21. There are many apartments in the area that are relatively affordable and work with students if you can get the premission to live off campus.

Off-Campus Dining: Salisbury is a great place to eat out, which means you spend a lot of money out because the cafe is so poorly prepared.

Administration: Catawba has a very nice balance of how strict it is compared to where the students get liberties.

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: There are some good parties at the school and the small tight-knit community leads to a pretty valuable experience.

Scholarships: The school is pretty good at giving scholarships, but they do not cover any of the almost elven thousand dollars required for room and board. They also are a somewhat expensive school which has recently cut back the amount of need based giving. They hold one giant scholarship competition for incoming freshman and the athletes get large scholarships.

Campus Food: After making 8 on the list of 10 worst dining halls in America, there wasn't much hope. They have tried to change, but the food is not quite up to par. I understand how difficult it is to cook for a large number of people, but there is no variety and the food is sometimes overcooked or raw. McCorkles is a good break from Cafe food, but we only have so much money on their until we have to either upload additional funds to an already expensive meal plan or eat only in the cafe.

Campus Housing: The housing is average to nice, but not exactly worth the six thousand dollars you pay to receive it. The dorms are usable and a decent size, but most are not overly spacious by any means. The housing process is generally very easy. The school needs to expand because there are currently more students then dorms available.

Off-Campus Dining: Salisbury has a lot of nice restaurants. My favorites were DJ's, Uncle Bucks, and Go Burrito.

Administration: I'm going to say that the Administration sucks. We had a meth lab on campus, a female employee cheated on her husband with multiple student athletes, and they fired the cheerleading coach without any reason. They honesty are just looking out for themselves and not the students.

Party Scene: I don't really party, but all the campus parties happened off campus.

1 College Sophomore

Scholarships: First off, the Business Office and Financial aid department are HORRIBLE!!!! You can not view your student account and will charge you whatever they want. All this school wants is your money.

Campus Food: The food is horrible. The caf staff is rude and not friendly at all. There is only two places to eat on campus and its not good.

Every school has its problems, and so does this one. But in the end, looking back on their experiences, many students will tell you that they enjoyed attending Catawba. Many have met some of their closest friends at the College and would jump at the chance to choose this school all over again if they had the opportunity.

As long as students take initiative, they will be well prepared for the "real world" upon graduation. The school is unique for many reasons. Catawba has many athletes, a nationally-ranked music program, and a nationally-ranked theatre program—and these are just a few of its assets. The school continues to grow and change.
