Party Scene: Positive impacted parties on student experience.

3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: We are a private school, we have good parties but I've seen better at larger schools.

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: Nothing special. City tav is kinda lame, house parties are ok i guess? I didn't go to any non-athletic ones because people are usually doing drugs.

1 College Freshman

Party Scene: It's very hard to find parties, and if you do they are usually busted by public safety.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: There are many colleges nearby with frats. Canisius doesn't have "typical" frats and so there aren't any frat parties for Canisius really. But there are tons of house parties extremely close to campus and the public safety barely busts them, even though the people are very loud.

There aren't a ton of house parties at Canisius, but they do exist. However, the Buffalo area has a vibrant nightlife with many clubs, restaurants, and other hot spots from which to choose. Buffalo does have a reputation as a drinking town, and, well, it's sort of true. It's a party city (what else are you going to do while you're snowed in?). Bars abound from downtown to suburbia, although since the legal drinking age is 21, undergrads won't be spending a lot of time there (presumably). Bars, clubs, and the like are usually accessible via the Metro or subway system, and are somewhat affordable, depending on when and where you go. There are some nights (generally Thursdays) that clubs designate for underage college students, with particular events geared toward that age group. Canisius itself has lots of events in the evenings, as well—movie showings, games, presentations, guest speakers, competitions, and so on—to keep students entertained.

Off-campus activities that don't involve clubbing, drinking alcoholic beverages, or listening to Top 40 being played extremely loud can include visits to Shea's Performing Arts Center, the Alleyway or North Park theatres, local movie theaters, bowling alleys, shops, restaurants, concerts, and coffeehouses.

Organization Parties
Clubs and organizations throw parties every once in a while, but they're more likely to schedule more structured events and activities, not "woo-hoo" socialization get-togethers. Departments do have Christmas parties and end-of-semester parties, and the entire student body at Canisius loves "Quad Party," which celebrates the end of the school year in the spring.
Did You Know?
Every year, Buffalo has "Bar Crawl" events, where participants only have to pay $10 and then have access to more than 20 bars and nightclubs all evening, with free cover and $2 to $3 drink specials.
