Guys & Girls

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Everyone at my school is very goal oriented and driven to succeed.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Not awful, but definitely easier to meet people if you're straight.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: There are many relationships on campus.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: The typical student on campus is fairly attractive and has a good head on their shoulders that's why we are here. Everyone is trying to find themselves as the school year goes on. A lot of students have the issue of not knowing exactly what they want to pursue as a career path.

3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Since it is a private school there are many students there that are extremely spoiled by their rich parents. But the good news is that there is an even mix of students that are paying their own way too.

Females are the majority at Canisius (not by a lot, but enough). This affects the dating scene a bit, since females vying for limited male attention are more inclined to "hook up" to get it, which leaves guys with little incentive to establish an actual relationship with someone.

However, Canisius students, as a whole, are usually more reserved than promiscuous (it's probably the Catholic-Jesuit thing). Almost everybody acts respectfully toward one another, and students are typically friendly, warm, and welcoming. It's easy to make friends with both sexes through common classes and interests.

Social Scene
There are plenty of opportunities to mingle with other students, particularly if one lives on campus. In addition to events sponsored by clubs and organizations, students frequently get together in dorms, houses, and apartments to socialize.
Hookups or Relationships?
While dating and relationships seem to be quickly becoming a thing of the past on most college campuses, couples do exist in significant numbers at Canisius. "Hookups" happen frequently, too, and though it is hard to judge, are probably more pervasive than relationships, though this is more a function of today's society than anything else.
Dress Code
Generally speaking, Canisius students are a casual bunch. Sweatpants and sweatshirts abound, particularly when the weather starts to turn. Some students (usually females) dress to the nines, but this is unusual. Jeans, T-shirts, and sweaters paired with comfy shoes are "de rigueur" with both sexes.
