5 College Sophomore

Administration: Strong leadership with vision for the future of education in a global economy.

3 College Freshman

Administration: I don't know... if you are a pretty decent looking human I doubt they will write you up.. they totally know we drink.. just don't be dumb and do it in the dorms. Go somewhere else and hide your alcohol

3 College Freshman

Administration: It's very strict in some aspects such as attendance and off-campus underage drinking. Public safety breaks up most parties. They are very lenient in visitation in the dorms and aren't super strict about drinking in the dorms (If you're smart). It's not necessarily a bad thing that they are kind of strict because most people at Canisius take their education very seriously.

3 College Freshman

Administration: There is a bar on Campus, and Administration seems rather lenient most of the time. Just don't get caught just like any other college.

5 College Sophomore

Administration: I feel safe and the rules are not overbearing. Public Safety is very accessible and reliable. Buffalo isn't the safest neighborhood so practice caution.

Canisius places a lot of emphasis on academic integrity. Plagiarism, as it is at most universities, is a huge no-no, especially when professors are readily available for help, along with a tutoring center that is almost always open. Outside of the classroom, underage drinking is not tolerated. Of course, people get away with it, but Canisius is first and foremost a Jesuit institution—definitely not a party school and with no intention of being thought of as such. Public Safety officers are usually reasonable, if given proper respect, but they also have been known to break up large house parties (for no other reason than size).

In the dorms, some students like their RAs, some students complain about their RAs, and some students don't like the idea of an RA in the first place. But overall, RAs are caring individuals that try to make the dorm experience both enjoyable and safe. Canisius does try to promote a "family atmosphere" and encourages students to look out for one another.

Facts & Statistics

Students Are Most Likely to Get Caught...
  • Being too loud (partying)
  • Smoking marijuana
  • Underage drinking
Visitation Policies
Entrance to most buildings on campus, particularly residence halls, is regulated by a student ID swipe-card access system. In residence halls, an adult staff member is on duty 24/7. Of course, no one's going to come banging down your door to see whether or not you have guests that aren't in the right building or floor. Visitation policies in dorms are very lenient.
