In the 3 semesters that I have been at CSUMB, I have really enjoyed it! I have found that this campus is the perfect fit for me, I have found clubs that are in my interest, and I am very appreciative of the professors on campus. They really value understanding and participation and are devoted to helping you in their course. It can be frustrating trying to get in connection with Financial Aid and get things all in order for the semester, but other than that, the school is a great place, and it is just a walk from the beach.

If you like the outdoors, you'll want to be here. Since all the buildings on campus are compacted into a small space, you'll love to explore the rest of campus. It's especially exciting to walk into the forests and find the remnants of the old military buildings! Plus, the beach is literally a walk from the campus too! This school is quiet the culture shock for people who are used to the big city, so be aware of that, too.

A lot of people probably won't put "it's the best" like I did. However, I've been able to comfortably walk all around campus ALONE at odd hours (like between 2am-4am). I always see cop cars or campus safety people/cars on my ventures, and on trips to and from the gym the night walk guards often ask if we feel safe or if we want to be escorted (they have their uniforms on and are in pairs, and if they drive it is in the campus safety car, so it's not sketchy). There's also the emergency buttons littered around campus. The only time safety isn't the best is when people don't take proper precautions. Let someone know you're going out (leave a note for a roommate or text someone), take a buddy, take something to protect yourself, be aware of your surroundings, don't meet up alone with someone you don't know well in a sketch place, and don't go out alone or to meet someone while under the influence! The campus can only do so much to protect you, and they do a great job; but you have to know how to protect yourself.
