Overall Experience: When you put the effort in, many professors turn out to be valuable resources who are really willing to work with you, and help with whatever you need. However, classes are often limited in size/availability of time and selection. Many departments only offer certain courses once every two or four semesters due to funding.

Off-Campus Dining: Downtown has MANY student specials throughout the week, with a wide variety of styles/prices of food for students and community members to enjoy.

Administration: I feel as if the alcohol scene on campus is not being curbed enough. Small measures are taken and enforced for short amounts of time, but alcohol is too readily available and cheap.

Scholarships: The best way to receive financial aid is to apply for any and all potential scholarships available. I find it frustrating when I make multiple phone calls to the Scholarship and Financial Aid offices to receive different answers, and when errors are made but rather than telling me upfront they attempt to fix it without my noticing, which then messes up my ability to access my records etc.

Party Scene: The party scene in Chico has grown out of control. There is nothing wrong with having a good time, but the drunken debauchery, lighting couches on fire, shootings and stabbings are ridiculous and need to end. I feel as if too many students come here with the intent of being a member of the party school scene, and this image damages Chico State and, even more importantly, Chico.

Campus Food: Expensive when there are options downtown which cost less(or only slightly more), but provide better quality/quantity.

College Senior

Campus Housing: I have never lived on campus, so I do not know how it works. From my observations, I feel as if rule enforcement is very lax in many situations.

Scholarships: Any tips are just to sign up for direct deposit for the grants, and to make sure to enroll in 12 units before the first deadline so you get your full amount as soon as possible. I haven't had any bad experiences getting financial aid at this school.

Party Scene: I don't attend the parties, but I've heard they're really fun to go to if you like that sort of stuff.

Academics: For the most part professors are great. There are a lot of study options, and the popular study areas are in the library. Of course there is the occasional not the greatest professor, some aren't very clear about what to study for the exams. But most of the professor's I've had at this school are good at teaching, or at the very least good at getting the required information across.

Off-Campus Housing: I live off campus, and though it was a bit difficult to find a place, after I did find a place it was an extremely easy process. The cost of the different apartments and other off campus living arrangements are fair, and there is a lot of advertising on campus for the different apartment complexes and such. There are definitely a lot of off-campus housing options close enough to the school to walk or bike.

Campus Food: I don't live on campus and don't have a meal plan so I don't eat on campus that often. But it looks like there's a lot of variety of the food that's available there.

Campus Quality: There is a lot of greenery on campus, and plenty of places for students to hang out on campus. A lot of students spend time studying in the library between classes, and there are many rooms for study groups. I've only been in the athletic center once, but it looked amazing, tons machines, treadmill etc. As well as a rock climbing wall and a pool. The overall aesthetic of the school is very pleasant, there's a rose garden, and a lot of the buildings are a nice red brick.

Health & Safety: I feel safe on campus, I haven't heard a lot about any crimes happening on campus. As for the areas directly around the campus I've heard about some stuff, and I wouldn't walk home by myself at night, but that's just general precaution. At night the campus is still fairly well lit.

Guys & Girls: The students I've interacted with have all been nice, and fairly sociable. They all dress uniquely for the most part, and there seems to be a large variety of students on campus with a variety of interests. There are a ton of clubs which reflect the many interests of the students.

4 College Freshman

Administration: Overal most of the professors are fairly lenient on attendance, and I haven't heard anything about extreme strictness on campus.

Campus Housing: My first year of college I lived in the University Village. In my perspective, the dorms were fairly small when sharing one single room. The amenities were great but the monthly rent was too expensive for a low-income student.

Overall Experience: Chico State University has many great quality traits that stand alone, such as all the fundamental programs there are for students that need assistance. This state university, helps students who are struggling with a course by assisting students with free tutoring sessions. Chico State also contains plenty of other programs, for instance, educational opportunity program, first- year experience programs, etc. Overall, all these programs are useful in an individuals life in order to pursue a higher education.

Administration: Reflecting back on my first year dorm experience in University Village made me re-call the residential advisors. The residential advisors had a huge role on how strict they had to be upon students living in the dorms. I remembered regulations and rules were always followed. For students who did not abide by the rules were destined with huge repercussions by school administration or judicial affairs.

Scholarships: As a low income student, financial aid has been extremely helpful in paying my educational expenses. Unfortunately, financial aid does not pay all of my expenses I am required to pay for my education.

Majors: I enjoy the program that I am involved in since I have a passion for justice. Ever since I was exposed to the criminal justice system, I have vastly desired to understand the criminal justice system. When I am subjected to these criminal justice courses, I feel one step closer to my graduation date. The workload might be intense sometimes but I know it is only for the best interest of the student.

Local Area: The local atmosphere in the town my school is located is great. The reason being is due to the locals' attitude towards the students. Everyone in the town is fairly welcoming and kind to new residents of the town. The local students are by far the noblest people I have encountered with, for instance, students have the tendency to open and hold doors open for other student whom they do not socialize with. Overall, the town is great.

Academics: I recently declared as a Health Science major with a focus on Health Education and a minor in Health Promotion, and it has been great. Each professor in this field that I have had the opportunity to take a class from have been equally devoted and passionate about what they are teaching, which makes me even more excited to learn and grow in this area of study. What makes this major unique is the internship course that is required during each student's last semester before their graduation date. This forces us as student's to get out in the "real world" and practice what we are learning in a tangible environment, as well as allow us the opportunity to add a real life experience to our resume early in our career.

Local Area: Love the outdoors? Chico is the place. One of the largest municipal parks in the nation. Hiking, camping, fishing, lakes, creeks, all within 20 minutes of downtown. The Lower Bidwell Park in downtown is awesome on a Spring, Fall, Summer, or Winter day. Chico gets all the seasons, but no snow. Tahoe is close, too!

Administration: Average across the board here. Heavy partying in the dorms is frowned upon. Responsible pre-gaming before a night out is overlooked. Coming home barely able to stand, not ok.
