Overall Experience: Class sizes are great! The size of the classes are relatively small so the professors get to know your name and you incorporate a closer bond with them. The only thing that does make the Chico experience difficult is when it comes to office hours because there a professors where they make it seem like they don't care about you. From personal experience, I stopped going to some of my professors' office hours because they don't really help you. They mainly just give you your score in the class but even then that is posted online. Some of the classes are half online and half where you go to the traditional classroom so you'll never miss what was done in class so that is convenient!

Overall Experience: The career prospects are average because when you go talk to an adviser, they do not really help you out so it can be hard when trying to find an internship but if you find your way, then it will certainly help you out. Basically, it is best to meet some people that share the same major as you and from there, you grow connections with other students and that can lead you to getting an internship. There aren't many employers recruiting on campus but the first day of school. On that first day, you have a major that you think is right for you but for the first day of school and applying for a job that quickly can make you want to change your major quickly when you are not certain about what you want yet. The best place to go is to go to your major facility and ask questions about finding an adviser.

Health & Safety: Chico lacks the personal safety due to the fact that the police on campus are never seen. From personal experience, the only time that I saw the campus police was when a guy got arrested for pulling the fire alarm and when it comes to finals and everybody is in the library late at night. Other than that, I recommend you walk with a group because you wont find the police or it takes a really long time for them to get there when you call them. Also, at night there isn't many lights so it makes it more dangerous to walk alone on campus.

Campus Housing: Living in the dorms was a hassle especially when you and your roommate did not get along and your residential adviser did not really do anything but say to "work it out." The thing that I did like, was that the dorms are really close to the school so if you are running late, you can still make it to class on time. The cost was pretty high especially when you are coming from a low income family so I am not going back to the dorms simply because I cannot afford it. The social atmosphere is amazing because everyone would get together and we would all plan an event and it worked out perfectly. The social atmosphere is what helped me create closer bonds with other students and I met an actual study group so that was convenient.

Greek Life: Usually one or two days of the week, a fraternity or sorority would do some sort of event on campus in which students can participate in or they make cookouts where many of the students get together and hangout and enjoy the food.

Athletics: To begin with, Chico State does not have many sports. Most of the activities that occur on campus are mainly clubs or classes such as taking a tennis classes or a golfing class. The only facility that is great is the recreational center.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: What makes Chico State an okay school to me is that you can go hiking and a lot of outdoor activities with your friends but the teaching of the instructor isn't the greatest. The instructors that I've had usually forget what they are doing and often stare at the white board looking and what they've done and try to pick up from there. Lessons from the instructors are not so good so it is best to teach yourself or get tutored. If i can do it all over again, I would not choose Chico State.
