Drug Safety

{{ error }}
1 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: My roommates had alcohol, marijuana, mushrooms, and other drugs in their rooms and stored visibly in the common room area in our suites. People walk around campus with vapes.

5 College Freshman

Drug Safety: there's no peer pressure to do anything

4 College Student

Drug Safety: Most just smoke tobacco daily, vape daily, smoke marijuana (often), and drink alcohol somewhere at night or on weekends.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: It seems to me that the majority of students partake in either drinking or marijuana use. People partake in harder drugs like cocaine and ecstasy at parties typically, and it's more evident in the Greeks. Peer pressure doesn't necessarily exist and at MOST of the Greek parties, the hosts are concerned and caring about the well being of everyone at their house.

4 College Student

Drug Safety: I have yet to see any drugs on campus

Drugs are not a big focus on campus. The drug scene at Cal Poly is only there if you actively go looking for it. If drugs are not your thing and you aren’t interested, there is no pressure to participate. In fact, many students are oblivious that any drugs are used at all on campus.

The two most popular drugs are obvious: alcohol and weed. However, CPP is catching on to the trend of using prescription drugs like Ritalin and Adderall, which is a shame. Cal Poly has very strict rules when it comes to drugs; if a student is found with any drugs in their possession, they will be immediately kicked out of any campus housing and be on suspension.

Because of the stringent policy against drugs, students who do partake find hidden places around campus. Alcohol is more widely prevalent. Students under 21 living on campus are not allowed any alcohol in their possesion, but students over 21 are allowed to keep a limited amount of alcohol in their room. People like to have kickbacks on the weekends and get a little crazy—but not to the point of alcohol poisoning. Because of the strict rules on alcohol, students have to attend off-campus parties if they intend to drink excessively.
