Administration: The campus is very strict, but they make that very clear when you are coming in. This is a Lutheran University, so there are standards that need to be met across the board. They are not rude about anything, but just know and understand that this is a dry campus and they intend to keep it that way.

Overall Experience: It is so easy to get involved and feel a sense of community on campus. The professors also go out of their way to meet with you and make sure that you are succeeding in their class.

Local Area: There is quite a lot to do off campus. There is a beautiful mall close by, and outlet malls not too far off the freeway. There are a handful of attractions close to campus, including Universal Studios and many beaches.

Guys & Girls: The guys and girls on campus are overall nice and friendly. We have a good mix of people here on campus. One thing I noticed when coming here is that everyone says hi and is super friendly; something I am not used to from my high school. Most people look like southern californians; shorts, skateboards, sunglasses. I haven't seen PDA on campus at all…which is strange considering its college. There is a social scene, however a lot of people go off campus to party or to go out. During the weekends the campus is a ghost town…a lot of people go home for the weekend since we have a lot of locals and commuters.

Off-Campus Dining: The off campus dining is what you would find anywhere else, really. You have the ethnic restaurants, but then there are also the fast food spots. We have a Trader Joe's and Vons right down the street, which makes it really easy to get a hold of hearty and healthy food if you need to. There is a Starbucks around every corner, which I love. Starbucks is a must.

Campus Quality: I really love the campus. There are amazing facilities, which includes the gym. There are various fitness classes offered, which is amazing. The library offers extensive resources, and there is an office for everything. It's a very green campus; there is always somewhere to take a walk or relax. There is always a campus event going on. Surprisingly, a lot of students take part. The events help to get everyone involved.

Located in the heart of the beautiful, secure town of Thousand Oaks, CLU is an ideal university for those who enjoy a tight-knit community that focuses on academics, diversity, and social connections. The small student population offers students more occasions to bond with fellow Kingsmen and Regals, and to connect with professors who actually know them as individuals, not just as numbers. The semester system enables students to delve into courses of their interest, and the time spent on academic studies helps students discover what they would like to do after their CLU years. With more than 35 majors and 35 minors, and a mix and match of doubling up on both, students are bound to find their perfect area of study. CLU’s close, intimate environment provides students with what other large, public schools can’t: countless opportunities to shine academically and socially, and stand out as individuals without the pressure and competition of a large student body. Clubs, organizations, academic departments, and residence halls are just some of the places in which students can become involved, contribute to their school and local communities, and bond with other students, faculty, and staff.

To briefly break away from the hectic class schedules and loads of coursework, campus events, like Club Lu, afford students with musical-, sports-, art-, and food-related events. From sports games at Dodger Stadium to catching a comedy flick in Kingsmen Park, CLU events bring students together for a night of fun. At any of these events, in class, at the caf, or just hanging out in the dorms, it’s not difficult to see the diversity of students. Coming from a variety of social, economic, ethnic, and political backgrounds, CLU students bring a great understanding and appreciation for other cultures on campus.
