Local Area: I love Thousand Oaks! It's green and beautiful and a nice change from the rest of socal. The mall is the best around and the people are friendly.

Majors: Communications is a great program if you make it great. The classes are fairly standard but there are millions of ways to get involved in internships and independent studies. My two on campus internships are invaluable.

Campus Food: Current set up of meal plan is frustrating but the food is good and diverse. And you can use your meals at starbucks which is a plus. I love the salads and grilled chicken. Tater tots are delicious and the dessert bar is yummy.

Off-Campus Housing: I won't say much, since I live on campus, but a lot of students do live nearby- mostly as groups in houses. Neighborhood is safe but inexpensive housing is nearly impossible to find.

Local Area: So close to the beach and good shopping!

Party Scene: The perfect amount of partying, there is usually something going on every weekend. Bigger parties come along during certain times of the year like Halloween or back to school after the breaks.

Athletics: So much fun!!!! The games are fun to go to even if you don't like sports just to socialize and hang out with friends.

Administration: The rules are not hard to follow because they are reasonable. If you do break the rules you have three chances before any real punishment is enforced.

Academics: Teachers actually care about you and will personally help you succeed

Greek Life: We do not have greek life

Off-Campus Housing: Many people choose to live in houses around campus and you get more bang for your buck that way

Majors: Super easy to get the classes you want and finish your degree in 4 years even if a transfer student

Campus Housing: Great rooms, apartment style living so you can cook if you want to, fun common areas!

Off-Campus Housing: I rent a room in a private home in Simi Valley. I'd like to be closer to school, but I can't afford TO prices.

Scholarships: Ihave to keep going back to financial aid over and over to get clarification. Now they're saying I owe the school over $2000, and I may have to drop out for the semester! This happened last fall, too, and I did have to drop out until spring.

I don't know why this keeps happening, and I apply and apply for these scholarships and I never get them. It's very, very depressing. I'm 63. I don't have my whole lifetime to finish school. I've taken care of EVERYBODY all my life. It's my turn, but I can't seem to get Cal Lu to cough up any more grant and scholarship money, even though I have a 3.7 GPA (merit) and I live far below the poverty line (need). I may very well have to transfer to a state school. (where it will take me seventeen years to get the classes I need.) Wow. Opened the flood gates there, didn't I?

Administration: I'm a commuter student, so I'm not too aware of admin situations.

Off-Campus Dining: Of course, it depends on what you want. I'm older than most students, so my pallette is a little more developed. I know where to find Morroccan, Russian, Peruvian, Irish, etc. cuisine. I think most of the students go for the usual...pizza, burgers, etc. there are plenty of those around, too. My favorite place for a burger is Hamburger Habit..it's on Moorpark Rd. My fave pizza will always be Topper's, farther down on Moorpark Rd. toward school. Close to school are Mimi's, Outback, and the Fox and Hound, which is British. I wonder ow many students know that's there?

Overall Experience: This school is an amazing place. There are professionals all around you who will become your mentors. The people on campus are extremely friendly. The class sizes are perfect because you get to know everyone and your teachers will know you and recognize you everywhere.

Overall Experience: The career services on this campus are phenomenal. Honestly they have helped so many students get jobs at amazing companies.

Guys & Girls: The guys and girls here are all very friendly. They dress well, and are very attractive on average. There are a lot of people here that meet someone they stay with for a long time.

Located in the heart of the beautiful, secure town of Thousand Oaks, CLU is an ideal university for those who enjoy a tight-knit community that focuses on academics, diversity, and social connections. The small student population offers students more occasions to bond with fellow Kingsmen and Regals, and to connect with professors who actually know them as individuals, not just as numbers. The semester system enables students to delve into courses of their interest, and the time spent on academic studies helps students discover what they would like to do after their CLU years. With more than 35 majors and 35 minors, and a mix and match of doubling up on both, students are bound to find their perfect area of study. CLU’s close, intimate environment provides students with what other large, public schools can’t: countless opportunities to shine academically and socially, and stand out as individuals without the pressure and competition of a large student body. Clubs, organizations, academic departments, and residence halls are just some of the places in which students can become involved, contribute to their school and local communities, and bond with other students, faculty, and staff.

To briefly break away from the hectic class schedules and loads of coursework, campus events, like Club Lu, afford students with musical-, sports-, art-, and food-related events. From sports games at Dodger Stadium to catching a comedy flick in Kingsmen Park, CLU events bring students together for a night of fun. At any of these events, in class, at the caf, or just hanging out in the dorms, it’s not difficult to see the diversity of students. Coming from a variety of social, economic, ethnic, and political backgrounds, CLU students bring a great understanding and appreciation for other cultures on campus.
