Academics: academics are great. professors go the extra mile

5 College Freshman

Academics: The professors are all very kind. I only ever had a bad experience with one, and I think it was because I took an advanced class as a freshman. I think if I had maybe taken it later on, I would have been okay. Despite my distaste, she, like the rest of my professors, was very open about her personal life and her family and to that extent she was engaging. The rest of my professors were all friendly, and most importantly very genuine about their relationship with their students. I became friends with a couple of them and was sometimes sad to leave their classes.

The homework they give all pertains to the course lectures.Workload is average. It depends on your field of study and what professors you have, how many units you take. Some semesters will be easier than others. Everyone gets stressed at finals. That's normal. It's college. I don't think there's such thing as winging it through college, and that's fine. The academic success center is really there for you when it counts. They have free tutoring sessions on every subject. All of my friends have gone at least once. And hey, there's always the Wellness Center when you need it. Counseling isn't just for people with mental issues, and they've made that very clear. I went in once and found that I would go again if I ever just needed to vent about friends or school stress. They, like your professors, are there to listen and pray for you, which is awesome.

The only thing is the registration process...It takes forever if you don't know what you're doing. They don't do a great job introducing the process at orientation and it's taken me two semesters to finally have it down somewhat. I would much rather sit down one-on-one with someone who could help me decide what classes to take, and what's going to help me finish on time and quickly. Academic Advising provides that, and I highly recommend it. I don't know why they don't advertise it more.

Academics: Even though I may not be super interested in most academic subjects, the amazing professors here make all of the subjects interesting for the students.
