Local Area: Riverside is a pretty sketchy town. I was told not to walk around at night by myself. The university does have a metal fence around it which helps. Also, there is a mall about a mile away, so that is fun. Other than that, there isn't much to do. It's not a very nice or scenic town. Some people like downtown but its a few miles away and like I said, being out at night is not safe.

Diversity: Though CBU is a Christian university, not everyone is a Christian. People are very accepting and tolerant, in my experience. There is quite a bit racial diversity, but as much as other schools I would say. As far as political beliefs, I believe it is rather diverse, though probably more conservatives than liberals. There is quite a bit of diversity for economic backgrounds. CBU offers good scholarships for those who are financially struggling.

Academics: There are many majors offered at California Baptist University that one can choose from. The school has excellent professors that are always willing to help a student when needed. The class sizes are smaller so the student can have more one on one with the professor. Every student on campus help one another ethier to find a class and need help in work. Also, this school helps students interact with each other and help to get to know more people. Overall this school helps one find its purpose and live its purpose.

Campus Quality: Christ-centered education, prayer before tests in some classrooms, which is needed especially for us nursing majors! Visit the Mission Inn at Christmas, it is one of the best attractions in Riverside.

Scholarships: The revolving student advisors at the front desk did not have much helpful information, however the counselors in the back of the office were more on the ball. There was a bit of confusion when filling out my FAFSA and I almost missed the deadline due to lack of thorough communication from the back of the office to the revolving students. I had to go to the office a few times to get the instructions straight, which could have been avoided if I were given all the information from the beginning. A little frustrating, still giving them an A because one of the counselors went above and beyond to help me.

Campus Quality: We have brand new technology in every aspect of the school even the athletic center with a soccer field on the roof!! The library is somewhat limited but they are partnered with UCR so if you need something they will get it for you. Rec sports are a big thing on campus, they have tournament for all of these sports and make a big deal of them. We have a game room that a lot of students hang out in and also a commuters lounge. The caf is amazing, the best food and all you can eat.

Academics: We have all the average majors such as nursing, engineering, business, English, etc. All of the professors at this university are extremely helpful. Registration is easy and there is always a class available that you need and if you cant get in they will open another section to help with that. We have an academic success center that will help you with writing papers, tutoring, career services, etc. an d this is extremely helpful when your a freshman.

Academics: The School of Engineering is relatively small so the professors are always available for you and will make themselves available if needed. They are really easy to talk to. The program we have has normal engineering courses and some that integrate Christianity directly into it. The workload I feel is pretty average for an engineering major. We have cross-cultural experience and an internship as requirements for graduation which better prepares you for the work ahead and if you don't get an outside internship they will design one for you to do at the school which is very helpful.

Party Scene: Being a Christian University, the nightlife is more reserved, but they always have stuff going on at night. We have an event called Midnight Madness, which is so exciting. We also have concerts throughout the year. Just little things here and there that work for this university.

Transportation: The public transportation is descent. The evening buses seem to not be as on time as the daytime buses.

Drug Safety: I only smell the drug scene in some of my classes and have been told many undergrades smoke marijuana. The school is a Christian based college and they do except students to hold to that value.

Weather: Sunny Southern California weathr is the best. Especially with the nice cool breeze.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: Pretty good array of majors at CBU. I just wished they had some popular jobs for each major that they offer.

5 College Sophomore

Diversity: Great diversity in every aspect besides religion. There are many different races and ethnicities, but most people are Christian.

5 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Have not seen or heard one person that does drugs at CBU.

5 College Freshman

Drug Safety: California Baptist University is a drug free campus. Anyone caught under the influence of drugs will be dismissed from attending the University.

Majors: I absolutely love the variety - especially for a Christian school that offers almost all the same majors online.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Although there are quite a few scholarships, they are not for the general student. The are mostly for Army ROTC, sports, engineers, bioscience, etc. Would be nice to have general topic essays, biblical topics and testimonies, or scholarships for artists and musicians that serve in their church.

Diversity: The majority of the students on campus are white leaving little room for any other race.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: This school has great security. it's 24 hour and you can call them anytime. you can get escorded if you feel unsafe and they have emergency towers

2 College Junior

Parking: Parking can get pretty bad here. You need to get here early if you want a parking spot close to the main buildings Especially on chapel days.

4 College Junior

Transportation: This school is a small school and everything is in walking distance. You're allowed to ride bikes as well as other transportation. Public transportation is free for students and is available just about everyday

5 College Freshman

Academics: The teachers have been the best I've ever had for the most part. Classes are easy to get and you don't have to worry about not being able to get a class you need. The worst that can happen is that you don't get the time or teacher that you wanted. They really care about your grades and make sure everyone is learning. If you are struggling with something you have the ability to talk to the teacher or go to the ASC. They are more then willing to help you succeed. As for books they are expensive, but you can always find cheaper books online.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The housing is actually very nice. The dorms, university place and the colony are all newer or remodeled to look nicer. They are remodeling the royal rose for the freshman, and the village is the worst. The married and grad housing is very spacious but kind of in the back corner of campus. University place is a good area to live in if you are a nursing or engineering major since the buildings are close. The colony is more of a social area, but still quiet and easy to study at. But you its a litter more of a walk to get to classes. CBU is accepting more students now, so the housing is more crowded then it used to be, which is making things harder this semester. But hopefully they will find a way to expand the housing for the next coming years.
