Guys & Girls

Guys & Girls: girls at bmc are usually hipster chic (urban outfitters, high waisted jeans, etc). Having the tri-co makes it easier to find people if that's what you're interested in. I personally wasn't really concerned.

3 College Senior

Guys & Girls: There are no technical guys admitted to Bryn Mawr, but quite a few students will graduate as Leonard after having been admitted as Lisa, if you know what I mean.

There are really nerdy and socially awkward people. You will hear so much talk about Doctor Who.

Guys & Girls: This is a girl's college, the only guys on campus are students from Haverford or Swarthmore. The students are generally dressed for comfort but there are a few artsy students who like to dress fashionably.

5 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Bryn Mawr is an all women's college, and the women are incredible! We all have unique styles and personalities and a plethora of different activities, anywhere from the college's South Asian Fusion dance team to Shakespeare theater. We do see many men from Haverford college and Swarthmore with whom we are in a tri-consortium. We all get along and each person is very likely to find just the right one they're looking for.

Guys & Girls: The women of Bryn Mawr definitely have their similar traits - smart, often nerdy, hardworking - but their is definitely diversity within the population.

At Bryn Mawr, looks are not the talk of the school. Students are quick to discuss many aspects of their peers and are generally complimentary, but attractiveness is not the first thing they mention. When the topic does come up, students shrug and say, "Sure, there are some hot girls here, but I came here to study, not to have my appearance assessed." Qualities that are more prominently associated with Mawrters are academic intensity, intelligence, quirkiness, ambition, and taste for adventure.

Mawrters are not known for their beauty, but as long as puffy bags under the eyes and wrinkled clothes do not detract from attractiveness, there are a lot of very beautiful woman here. In fact, as a whole, Mawrters are a good-looking crowd. While no one spends very much time primping for class each day, those who completely neglect their personal hygiene stand out more than those who do not.

Social Scene
The school attracts a balanced mix of extroverted and shy students. Eventually, all students find like-minded people, and after a few years here, students comment that their friendships are stronger at Bryn Mawr than friendships they have had in other capacities. Some attribute this to the absence of men; others credit the presence of Mawrters. The size of Bryn Mawr's campus forces everyone to interact with everyone else, so even the shyest students find it hard to be a stranger.
Hookups or Relationships?
Boyfriends descend on campus on the weekends, making the many long-distance relationships more visible. Some girls date Haverboys, but most soon find that the most convenient goods are not necessarily the best. It is hard to tell if there are more ‘Fords or Mawrters dating Mawrters. There are plenty of single women here also.
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
Fords and Swatties (Haverford and Swarthmore students) can be scoped out in Bryn Mawr classes and libraries, but students are more likely to hit it off romantically in a less intense environment. Bi-Co (Bi-College) extracurricular activities can bring Mawrters and ‘Fords together, or at least introduce you to people who know someone. Parties at Bryn Mawr are good places to meet guys from all over, as are the bigger concerts. Your chances are always better at a Bryn Mawr party, but you can party more frequently at other schools.
Dress Code
Someone once said a Mawrter irons a skirt by wearing it and stretching the fabric between her legs. There are those who can wield an iron with an expert hand, and they tend to go for the "I-just-aced-the-interview" look, meaning smart trousers, a starched button-down shirt, and a grey or neutral color sweater with black boots. Most other Mawrters live their day-to-day lives in jeans, T-shirts, and baggy sweaters, trying to look the most put together with the least amount of work. There are few very trendy outfits on campus, as the trend here is comfort and personal style
