Administration: Administration trusts the student population. Very respectful of creating an adult space.

Party Scene: Social Life was oncampus. You got to know your fellow students very well.

Scholarships: I received a very generous package. There were resources available to go over the details.

Academics: I'm an archaeology major and its a great program here at Bryn Mawr. Teachers are very responsive and the classes available are exactly what I wanted. I can't complain!

Administration: Bryn Mawr is a wet campus so alcohol is prevalent and free flowing. However, a friend got into trouble with campus security recently for underage drinking after explicit reassurance that write ups like that were infrequent.

Campus Quality: Awesome facilities! I pretty much live in Hogwarts

Technology: I have always been able to find a computer when I have needed one. They can be crowded around lunchtime, and definitely when midterms and finals come around. The WiFi signal seems to be strong all around campus, so you can easily use your laptop anywhere. The library is right in the middle of campus and close enough to all dorms that you don't need to have your own printer.

Parking: The permit is $100, but you can't always find a spot around campus. Unless you are planning to drive off campus, you don't need a car; the campus is small enough that you can walk comfortably from one end of campus to the other.

Campus Housing: The dorms are absolutely gorgeous. I have plenty of space here, and each room has a closet. The facilities are often in great condition. They are clean, and many dorms have been renovated recently. People in all years choose to live in the dorms, because they are so nice. It is expensive, but I have seen no other college with dorms like these.

The social atmosphere in the dorms is okay. It depends on which dorm you choose. In some, people tend to keep to themselves. In others, people will sit out in the hallway to chat.

Health & Safety: Bryn Mawr is crazy safe. Everything is lit up. Pub Safe is always around. If you call Pub Safe or the Lantern van, they will come get you, even from the train station if you come in at night and feel unsafe making the 10 minute walk back to campus.

Off-Campus Dining: The food is mostly good and most places deliver right to the dorm. It is suburbia though and you don't have the widest range of options and very few are typical awesome cheap college food. There's also only one or 2 late night options, but those also happen to be the cheap college food options, so that's nice.

Administration: They are awesome and not strict at all. we have what is known as Pub Safe. They are not at all affiliated with the police and as such are less concerned about what the rules say and much more concerned with the best way to keep us safe.

Academics: Workload (first year) is not as daunting as it's made out to be, though still challenging. Professors are friendly and open to out of class discussions about assignment feedback

Majors: There are so many majors to choose from at Bryn Mawr, especially considering that students can always major at Haverford and Swarthmore as well and most importantly all the majors at Bryn Mawr are very important to the school and are very academically challenging and rewarding. I am a Classics major at Bryn Mawr and thought this program may be dying out in other institutions, it is alive and well at Bryn Mawr. I have incredible opportunities to study abroad on sites in Italy and Greece and I have an enormous amount of books and knowledge to gain right on campus as well. Students who graduate from Bryn Mawr are definitely going somewhere.

Campus Quality: The social scene is exactly what I was looking for. There are a lot of events that connect you with other students who live with you or near you, creating a really nice community feel. There are so many incredible opportunities for volunteering, learning and getting involved at Bryn Mawr. Even this summer Hillary Clinton spoke for a group of students at the college. Diversity is incredible at Bryn Mawr and you can always meet new people and try new things. Also, we are only a 15-20 minute train ride from Philadelphia where we can go to museums or other learning environments. We are in a consortium with Haverford College, Swarthmore College and University of Pennsylvania, so students can basically take which ever classes they wish and we are never lacking opportunity to have top notch professors or learning opportunities.

Campus Quality: Traditions at Bryn Mawr are like no other place in the world. We are like one big happy family and each tradition is like a little piece of home. There are always different activities going on, most of which involve free food which is a huge plus! I love the outdoor spaces at Bryn Mawr, like the lovely hammocks to lounge in and the beautiful trees planted everywhere. Also, the libraries are very cozy and you can always find a nice place to hangout or relax, like in the campus center or the Lusty Cup cafe.

Weather: The campus is small, so when weather is poor, we don't usually have much trouble getting where we want to be. It does seem to rain quite frequently in the spring, creating lots of puddles, but it just gives us a reason to wear our adorable rain boots! Also when all the cherry blossoms bloom in the spring, I would say it is the most beautiful place in the world at Bryn Mawr.

Guys & Girls: Bryn Mawr is an all women's college, and the women are incredible! We all have unique styles and personalities and a plethora of different activities, anywhere from the college's South Asian Fusion dance team to Shakespeare theater. We do see many men from Haverford college and Swarthmore with whom we are in a tri-consortium. We all get along and each person is very likely to find just the right one they're looking for.

Campus Food: Amazing food, guys from Haverford are constantly coming and eating here cause our food is so good!

4 College Sophomore

Majors: A lot of people are around to help you find your way and discover what major you should pursue. Very helpful/supportive community.

5 College Sophomore

Administration: Strict, but in a subtle way. Pub safe is always around to make sure everything is running smoothly on campus.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Like any highly-rated liberal arts college, Bryn Mawr provides a stellar education to a vibrant student body on a campus so beautiful that sometimes it looks surreal. During the school year, especially in the dead of winter, it is easy to overlook these tremendous offerings and instead focus on the massive amount of work, as it contrasts to what can seem like a dearth of social opportunities. These are the times where some freshmen consider transferring.

Traditions help lighten the mood on campus, and despite what seems to be stress oozing out of every pore, most students manage to do a lot more than just handle their school work-though everyone agrees that academics is a priority. In the end, students are most proud of their academic work, but also fond of the school and experiences that they had here. Mawrters come to Bryn Mawr to benefit from the faculty and coursework the school is known for. Some women find the lack of boys on campus difficult to adjust to, or they find the general smallness of the campus undesirable, but in the end, most stay for the same reason they came: academics. When it's over, few look back on the decision with regret.
