Party Scene: The party scene is different than what most people think of as a "party scene." There aren't drugs or alcohol, but people are always doing something fun. BYU students are great at finding fun things to do without drinking or doing drugs.

Party Scene: Again, they are fun without alcohol and drugs. The best parties are usually in the very social apartment complexes like King Henry or Liberty Square.

Party Scene: First of all, night life does not mean parties and beer. At BYU, there are a lot of night activities from hiking and riding bikes to dates to movie nights to many other awesome activities. This school is not the typical 'to the bar' type of school and many of the activities are fun and enjoyable but still within the honor code of the school and the morality of the individual student. I have had a lot of fun night activities here, and I have loved every one.

Party Scene: BYU has a low party atmosphere (party meaning the traditional sense with beer and drugs and sex). BYU has fun, clean gatherings where students get together and have fun and enjoy themselves without drugs and alcohol. Because these social scenes are not considered the usual party scene, I would say that BYU has a horrible party scene, but in my opinion, that is awesome. I am against the consumption of beer and alcohol, so anything where that is the normality is not good in my opinion.

If you are looking for a late night, party-intensive, bar and club scene kind of college experience, BYU is not for you. Because of the BYU Honor Code, drinking is prohibited, and, therefore, there are no big bars near campus. The one club in Provo is not huge; Salt Lake does have a bigger "nightlife scene." Nothing in Provo stays open very late. However, this doesn't mean that students go to bed early. Students tend to be very creative in their free time and have plenty of fun despite the lack of venues. There is a pretty good local music scene, and in the summer, there are always bonfires up the canyon.

The Student Council at BYU tries to fill the void of big
parties by sponsoring big opening and closing parties every semester. Provo city has a few fun ordinances that prohibit big, loud, private parties. So if you are planning on throwing huge raves, don't bother. Provo is basically good clean fun or nothing, so make sure that you are ready to be creative in your spare time.

Organization Parties
Most clubs on campus will have an opening and closing social. These are generally only advertised within the organization, but sometimes, if you watch the boards in the JKHB, you will see flyers announcing socials. These are a great way to meet people with similar interests.

What to Do if You're Not 21What's This?

It doesn't matter in Provo, since there isn't really a bar scene. Twenty-one is a very unfulfilling birthday in Provo, so don't stress if you're not there yet.
