1 College Freshman

Party Scene: There is none because of the Honor Code. Partying will get you kicked out of school

4 College Junior

Party Scene: If the students you are partying with live the honor code, you do not have to worry about the alcohol and drugs, which is a huge plus to me! Everyone just likes to have a good time.

Party Scene: There is a really great atmosphere around BYU. You can have a lot of fun but still stick to your values.

4 College Sophomore

Party Scene: The social scene is great. There is always something going on and people are always willing to make events larger than intended. Technology, especially twitter, is a great means for which to spread the word.

3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: I'm sure there are many parties that take place on campus, but most of them are geared towards freshman. I loved going to the dances my freshman year, but now I'm looking to get off campus and do something a little more exciting.

If you are looking for a late night, party-intensive, bar and club scene kind of college experience, BYU is not for you. Because of the BYU Honor Code, drinking is prohibited, and, therefore, there are no big bars near campus. The one club in Provo is not huge; Salt Lake does have a bigger "nightlife scene." Nothing in Provo stays open very late. However, this doesn't mean that students go to bed early. Students tend to be very creative in their free time and have plenty of fun despite the lack of venues. There is a pretty good local music scene, and in the summer, there are always bonfires up the canyon.

The Student Council at BYU tries to fill the void of big
parties by sponsoring big opening and closing parties every semester. Provo city has a few fun ordinances that prohibit big, loud, private parties. So if you are planning on throwing huge raves, don't bother. Provo is basically good clean fun or nothing, so make sure that you are ready to be creative in your spare time.

Organization Parties
Most clubs on campus will have an opening and closing social. These are generally only advertised within the organization, but sometimes, if you watch the boards in the JKHB, you will see flyers announcing socials. These are a great way to meet people with similar interests.

Shows are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. You'd best get there early, as these shows regularly sell out.

What to Do if You're Not 21What's This?

It doesn't matter in Provo, since there isn't really a bar scene. Twenty-one is a very unfulfilling birthday in Provo, so don't stress if you're not there yet.
