Campus Food

5 College Freshman

Campus Food: I eat at the CougarEat a lot and I've really grown to love it! I really like that they have lots of restaurants, but they also have a "Grab-n-Go" and the "CougarExpress" where you can just pick out pre-made food! That is the best because whenever I am in a rush, I can still get something to eat! The employees at the CougarEat are so friendly and helpful! I spend a lot of time there!

4 College Sophomore

Campus Food: The food choices on campus are excellent. There's a wide range of pretty much anything from boiled eggs to chicken sandwiches to ice cream. There's even Chinese food. It's great and I've never been let down.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: There is always some great place to get good food at nearby

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: The food is good but fairly expensive when compared with buying and making your own food.

4 College Junior

Campus Food: There is always something to eat and a lot of options. There are some great sweets available as well. Ice-cream, cake, famous mint brownies, and so much more!

The cafeteria food is not generally regarded as being amazing cuisine. But the glory of BYU meal options is that you don't have to live on cafeteria food alone! BYU offers a couple of different meal plan options; the most popular (and slightly more expensive) option is Dining Plus. This option gives students a daily allowance that they can spend where they like on campus. It's great if you don't want to trudge back to the cafeteria for lunch, you can easily grab something on campus at the Cougareat or one of the cafés.

On-campus dining should be enjoyed while on Dining Plus freshman year, because you quickly realize later that without Dining Plus, eating on campus can get really expensive, really quickly. The food is pretty good-nothing spectacular, but nothing revolting. There are not a lot of low-fat options readily available, so beware of the Freshman 15. Everything is really convenient, and location is exceptional, so using the dining plan freshman year is highly recommended.
