5 College Junior

Overall Experience: I love BYU. I am so glad I made the decision to come here.

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: BYU is very safe. I feel safe walking home in the dark at 10pm at night by myself. Police are great. People live by an honor code, so you don't have high chances of being assaulted by someone whose drunk or on drugs.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I've mostly taken general classes, with a few major classes. General classes are big, with lectures in auditorium like places. Major classes have been smaller, where the professor can know you more personally. The professors know what they're teaching about and are well educated. It can be hard to get into popular classes. General classes have lots of busy work like lots of reading.

Campus Housing: Helaman Halls: Social Atmosphere is the BEST (for girls, I don't know about boys). You see the same people at meal times so it's easy to make friends that way. Meal Plan/Housing is pretty pricy though. Cannon Center food is Bomb, but still expensive and some meal plans allow you to go to the creamery too, so that's fantastic. It's always super clean.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Pretty good teams, and they show a lot of support for the ROC (Roar Of Cougars), the student section. Everybody either watches the games online or attends them in person, though there's not a huge sense of athletic school spirit because there are so many other groups on campus that people are involved with.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I chose this school in part because of its near-200 majors which seemed good since I didn't know what I wanted to do, but many of the professors really stress the importance of learning for the sake of learning. The grading can be harsh and the readings plentiful but I have never had such a spirit of exploration thrust upon me in my life. This school has exposed me to so many different subjects and really encouraged me to pursue my interests. I would choose BYU over and over again. BYU truly emphasizes lifelong learning and service.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: On campus housing is clean, but somewhat expensive for me. The dorms with kitchens are spacious, and the dorms with no kitchens I don't know about. The social aspect is great, but it's hard to study at home.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: BYU has many varisty sports. Football and Basketball are the most followed, having the largest fan base. The teams are pretty good. SOme years are better than others, but no matter what happens, fan support is still great. It would be nice to have better seats for the student section at football games. School pride is real at BYU, with lots of tshirts and attendance at events.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: BYU has always been my dream school. Being able to attend this university is a wonderful opportunity. Classes are academically rigorous, but possible to achieve good grades in. The Professors know their stuff, and there are so many opportunities to get involved!

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I have never heard of a safety incident at BYU. There are campus police and blue lights very easy to access. There is also a Student Health Center with awesome insurance coverage and very helpful and understanding sandwiches.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Being at this school is the best thing for me. I really love it there. Not only am I learning about new topics in my general education, I am learning how to be a better person, be independent, and be happy with who I am. It is a good place to be.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: BYU is a very well known school with prestigious programs and a lot to offer after graduation. I am only in my first semester and I don't know too much about after college yet, but I know I will have plenty of opportunities to work.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The internships provided by the University allow students to get ahead in their field of study and provide hands on experience that will help them to find full-time employment after graduation.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Professors and Teacher's Assistants are accessible and helpful to help their students succeed.

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: The University has a very low crime rate, and police are always close by in case of an emergency.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: On campus housing allows for convenient access to all University services, but is further from most things off campus.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I never actually lived on campus, but the time that I have spent at friends' dorms has been great! I love social life around campus housing, it is a good place to be.

1 College Sophomore

Greek Life: There are no fraternities or sororities on campus, which allows all students to feel included in the general whole of the University.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Brigham Young University has high standards of moral behavior and academic excellence, and thus is one of the best universities in the western United States.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: Athletics are well supported by faculty and administration, and well attended by the student body. Athletes are role models on and off of the playing field, as they are high standards of academic achievement.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: I have never been very active in attending sports games, but I did have a lot of fun at these college football games. Go Cougars!!!

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I love BYU. I really had no interest in going but I decided to because it felt right, and now I can't imagine myself anywhere else. There is really something special about the campus and everyday I feel like I am growing and learning.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Great health plans for students

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: So fun and great people

A BYU experience is unlike anything else. The things that you will learn go far beyond what is taught in the classrooms, and the people that you will meet are exceptional. Researching the school, and being familiar with the rules and expectations of students, will make the transition smoother and help you get the most out of your BYU experience.

Talking with people who have attended, reading books such as this one, and looking at the BYU Web site (www.byu.edu) are all great ways to make sure that this is really the school for you. If you decide that BYU is what you want, then jump in and enjoy it! You are in for a great and character-building experience.
