5 College Freshman

Athletics: BYU has several teams that are nationally ranked, and BYU is known for it's awesome student section!

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I love BYU! You get such a great education at a school with such a great atmosphere.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: I have always felt safe on campus. I always see campus police patrolling which gives me a sense of security.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: The courses are challenging but they are enlightening. My professors really care about each student and making sure everyone leaves having learned something. I wish all the class sizes were small but you win some, you learn some.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: Getting a degree from BYU is really all you need. People love BYU and know that they can trust those who come from it.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: On campus housing is good. Off campus housing is not that great and BYU has to approve all housing so I consider it all on campus housing. I should not be paying as much as I do for the quality I get.

1 College Junior

Greek Life: We don't have greek life.

4 College Junior

Athletics: I don't really follow the sports teams here at BYU but I still hear all about it because there is a ton of school spirit! Our fight song is one that everyone knows by heart!

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: I would choose my school again. I love BYU. There may be aspects that I do not like but the good qualities far out weigh the bad. I love the way everyone is committed to being honest in their dealings and there is a feeling of happiness and equality.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: I use the gym daily, and like the facility. Sporting events are always well-organized and fun. Intramurals are also very well planned and very fun to participate in.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I really enjoy Brigham Young University. Peers are friendly and helpful, the campus culture is uplifting and supportive. Professors are engaging, dedicated, and fair. I really enjoy that BYU challenges students to live better in every aspect of life.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: BYU is a great value with awesome people and opportunities.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: I love my on campus job. I work as a research assistant and feel that it will definitely help me network and find a job in the future. Jobs in Utah County are pretty competitive, but if you're willing to move then I think it is easier to find a job.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: Not having a drinking/ drug scene definitely makes me feel safer on campus.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: On campus housing is fun, but only for Freshman. Definitely live there Freshman year, but then move off-campus after that.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: I love the community feel on campus, but it can be competitive. You also get sick of Provo after being there for a while. I miss the diversity that I had at my high school. Overall though, I am glad that I decided to go to BYU.

3 College Junior

Athletics: Some people love athletics and go to all of the games. Sports passes are available for students, but I chose not to buy one because they are expensive, about 160$. I would rather spend my money doing something else.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: A lot of the professors are really fun to listen to and communicate with, but some are rather boring. For a lot of the generals, you have class sizes of upwards of 200, but as you progress further into your specific major, classes become much smaller. Lots of resources are available for study help as well.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: Companies love BYU students, because they know we will work hard. Job fairs happen multiple times a semester. The alumni network also has a strong following.

5 College Junior

Health & Safety: Very little crime happens that I have noticed. Anything you lose will typically end up in the lost and found, not stolen. In the event that you are the victim of a crime, police are quickly available. Special phones have been set up around campus if you ever feel in danger.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: Wonderful places to live on-campus! My only issue is pricing, but there were cheaper options available.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: I love the community here! There are nice and helpful people everywhere, including TA's and professors.

3 College Junior

Athletics: People are enthusiastic about sports. Unfortunately, this also leads to what I consider unhealthy and un-mannered behavior towards the 'rival' schools.

5 College Junior

Drug Safety: I do not know anyone who drinks or does drugs at the school

5 College Junior

Health & Safety: I have always felt safe in the environment and I know BYU does a great job at keeping it like that.

A BYU experience is unlike anything else. The things that you will learn go far beyond what is taught in the classrooms, and the people that you will meet are exceptional. Researching the school, and being familiar with the rules and expectations of students, will make the transition smoother and help you get the most out of your BYU experience.

Talking with people who have attended, reading books such as this one, and looking at the BYU Web site ( are all great ways to make sure that this is really the school for you. If you decide that BYU is what you want, then jump in and enjoy it! You are in for a great and character-building experience.
