Parking: I do not often park on campus because I usually walk, so i do not have much of an opinion.

Transportation: Transportation on campus is usually done with the legs. Whether walking, running, biking, or scootering, the campus is small enough that distance is not generally an issue. The farthest buildings are a fifteen minute walk away from each other. There are no intra-campus transport services, except for the occasional golf cart that is used by staff. The campus is located on a hill, and this can cause some sore muscles in the beginning of semesters, but it quickly fades.

Overall Experience: There is so much that this school has to offer. Perhaps the most wonderful thing about this school is the strong emphasis on developing a relationship with God in all things. Prayers are often said to start classes, and those prayers, as well as the prayers said for help with homework, are answered many times over through helpful classmates teachers, and most importantly through the Spirit of the Lord. I would definitely choose this school again if I could do it all over, because this has been one of the single best experiences of my life.

Scholarships: If you want financial aid, APPLY FOR IT EARLY. The longer you wait, the harder and more difficult, and generally the more stressful your time here would become. If you do apply early, the process goes very smoothly, and you can go to your classes without worrying about finances.

Off-Campus Housing: Many of the off-campus apartments have wonderful side benefits. For example, the housing that I am in has it's own heated pool, and is a mere five minute walk to campus. My parking permit cost $50 for a semester, and I am guaranteed a parking spot at my apartment complex's parking lot. Rent per semester is between $750 and $1250, but the apartments themselves are generally the same.

Parking: Parking costs here are similar to many other areas in the country as far as I'm aware. You save much more money walking, and the campus is small enough, and the housing close enough that you don't usually need a car. If you do have a car, you can usually find a parking spot, but if you do not have a parking permit, fines are quick to appear on your wind screen, and the fines are not pretty.

Technology: I haven't used the labs very much, but that's partly because they can get quite crowded. Being an introvert, this type of environment is not desirable, so I tend to forego spending time in labs. The wireless network speed is wonderful, though sometimes you will randomly get disconnected (DSL services sometimes go down). I would always recommend getting your own printer, but printing costs are about the same everywhere else you go. You generally are not provided with a laptop, and use of a computer is necessary for grades and assignments, so it is highly recommended that you purchase one.

Guys & Girls: In general, students here at this campus are attractive. Some of them could qualify is "super-model," while there are others who would fit the category of "undesirable," but a large majority falls within the mid to upper range. Interests of the guys and girls on campus are widely varied, but there is a common theme of respect between any and all students and faculty. This campus is commonly nicknamed "BYU-I Do" because of how many marriages occur as a direct result of here. There are many activities available to help students socialize and gain more friends, and the environment allows for good, clean, wholesome relationships.

Diversity: From what I've seen, there isn't as much diversity as other areas. There are still many different people from many different countries and nations, but because of the nature of the school, religious background and sexual orientation are completely homogenous. There are many different people to meet, and it's always fun to get to know the different people here because of the high standards that they have for themselves.

Academics: I love being a physics major here! The classes are small, but large enough that we get a varied amount of opinions that help in group discussions. High workload, but the workload allows us to learn faster, and deeper. I haven't yet had any experiences with internships, but from the job that I have recently been offered, they are very good as well!

Academics: Yes, there are some difficult professors, but each class, each professor, does their best to help the student to learn. I have enjoyed being here because I feel that my learning curve has accelerated, and I am better able to reach towards the goals that I have set for myself, and learn of even higher goals that I can set and achieve.

Health & Safety: This campus is perhaps one of the safest in the world.

4 College Sophomore

Administration: While there are some things that I don't necessarily agree with, I am very grateful for the experiences I have had with rule enforcement here. Safety is a number one priority. Drugs are not an issue on this campus, nor is alcohol. I have not heard of protests, and as far as I know, you can create a student group as long as you have a plan for what you want to do with it. The rules enforced help each student to stay focused on their work, while also allowing them to have fun that doesn't compromise the Lord's standards.

Weather: It is cold during the winter season (sometimes below zero), but the atmosphere on and around the campus more than makes up for it. I love the place!

Overall Experience: Excellent. I would recommend this school to anyone.

Guys & Girls: Guys and girls date each other, but mainly just as friends. People do not pair off and go on dates as much as they use to. People think that hanging out with a bunch of friends around is considered dating. After hanging out for a while some people will marry without even knowing their spouse very well.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are fast food places near student housing. The food is a decent price with a variety of choices on the menu. However, there are only a few places to choose from and therefor not a lot of options on what type of food to eat.

1 College Sophomore

Greek Life: There are no Greeks known about that attend the school. If there were Greek students the school would welcome them and they would not change the atmosphere of the campus.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: The weather changes constantly. One minute it will be raining or snowing and the next be sunny. When it is snowing it causes the ground to be icy. It is hard to walk to class in these conditions and students walk slower to be safe and are late to class.

3 College Sophomore

Technology: It is very important to own your own computer. There are however computers on campus in the library that are free to use. The connection is often very fast. sometimes the computers loose access to the school website and it makes it hard for students to complete homework.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: The cost of off campus housing is great. Not too expensive it all depends on where you decide to live how much you will spend on rent. Most of the housing is right next store to and across the street from the school. Most managers are great and it depends where you live if there will be excellent managers or not. Some super cheap complexes have managers that do not care.

3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: There are parties that students put on which sometimes does not include clean dancing. The parties on campus are very clean and fun without any drinking. Drinking is not allowed because nobody in the town or school wants to live a life or have a party with it around. There are not any bars or clubs because nobody would attend them.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Food: There is a variety to choose from when eating on campus. almost every building has places where students can by something for lunch. There is also a big building where there are pizza, burgers, salad, soup, Chinese food and more for lunch and dinner and other options for breakfast. Next to the food are large eating areas and there are often deals on many of the items on the menu. My favorite is probably the Chinese food.

5 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Obtaining financial aid is easy. There are videos to watch to help with the process. My advice would be to apply early.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: There is a great academic program and a safe environment.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

BYU-Idaho professors and other students take a lot of interest in students personally, to help them achieve their academic goals and improve their overall well-being. They care about how you do in classes, what you have to contribute to the school, and what you're doing besides school to enhance your lifelong learning. The BYU-I experience really becomes what the students make it. Students who just study to get by learn to do the bare minimum with the least amount of effort, and students who want to make the most of their education and learn and grow from being a student work longer and harder in a variety of pursuits that span beyond academics.

It may be hard to believe that there are so many opportunities to develop skills in a given area from attending a little school in Rexburg, Idaho. But just as BYU-Idaho takes huge steps in innovating learning and maximizing resources, students learn to be innovative hard-workers who know how to problem-solve and communicate effectively. Most students who realize the potential they have in being admitted to this school and who take advantage of the opportunities offered here quickly learn how to make their BYU-Idaho experience worthwhile.
