4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I was blessed to received 2 different scholarships.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are a lot of places to eat at. Some are just the same but if you want a really nice restaurant, you have to go to IF.

3 College Student

Off-Campus Dining: There is a variety of places to go in Rexburg, but don't expect any authentic/ ethnic food.

4 College Student

Party Scene: The school and surrounding restaurants and businesses sponsor lots of great activities and events to go to in the evenings. Things don't get out of control, and there aren't problems with alcohol because most people don't drink.

5 College Student

Health & Safety: I feel very secure here not because there is a really tight security but because there is an honor code that everyone agrees to here. The integrity of the students would astound most college students and professors.

5 College Student

Drug Safety: Drug use is against the school policy, and is nonexistant within at least 4 blocks of campus. There is still some marijuana that goes around under the table, but most drug users get reported and suspended from school.

4 College Student

Local Area: Much of the town around the university tailors to students. Everyone is very friendly and many are willing to offer jobs to hard-working college students. There's not a whole lot to do in town, but there are plenty of great outdoor sites within 20 miles.

4 College Student

Technology: Connecting to the wireless network can be difficult in some places on campus, but the speed is usually decent and tech support is almost always available. It's really important to have your own laptop because most of the assignments, even for on-campus classes, are turned in online.

4 College Student

Academics: In terms of diversity of degrees, it's not the greatest, but the school has high standards for all the students and teachers who really care about their success. Many of the teachers have extensive experience working in the field of study. The curriculum is carefully planned and adjusted to meet the needs of the students and the demands of the career. Business and Elementary Education have the biggest programs of students, but the Construction Management program was recently rated #2 in the nation by an independent group.

5 College Student

Diversity: One of the greatest things about going to BYUI is how accepting the school and the people are here. Since it's a church school, the principle of "love your neighbor as yourself" is taught and lived by the students and faculty.

3 College Student

Weather: The school only shuts down for one thing: power outages. So even if it's -30 outside and the wind is blowing, class will still be held.

3 College Student

Athletics: The school only recently became a University and when it did, it got rid of all inter-college competitive sports. While this is in line with the school's mission, it's frustrating for many athletes.

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: There isn't much in the way of "night life" as there are a lot of curfews.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: I dont know about greek life here.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: The college is very diverse with a large variety of people.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: Most everything here is within walking or bike riding distance.

4 College Freshman

Local Area: There is a friendly, fun, atmosphere here.

3 College Freshman

Weather: The weather is really cold and frigid in the winter, but nice in the summer.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: There are very few drugs found on or around campus.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Off campus dining is okay, but not the best. There are a variety of options, but the prices aren't the best or college friendly.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: Their athletic facilities are some of the best I've ever seen. Their equipment is clean, modern and safe, and they have many different clubs and sports available.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: There isn't much off campus housing available and what there is is okay.

4 College Freshman

Technology: The network reliability is really good, as well as the wireless access. Although there are computer labs there on campus, it would be helpful and convenient to bring your own.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There is quite a lot of choice in Rexburg but everything is too far away to walk to.

3 College Freshman

Academics: Academics at this school are pretty good, but the gospel focus that has to be applied to all classes regardless of relevance sometimes takes away from subject matter we could be focused on.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

BYU-Idaho professors and other students take a lot of interest in students personally, to help them achieve their academic goals and improve their overall well-being. They care about how you do in classes, what you have to contribute to the school, and what you're doing besides school to enhance your lifelong learning. The BYU-I experience really becomes what the students make it. Students who just study to get by learn to do the bare minimum with the least amount of effort, and students who want to make the most of their education and learn and grow from being a student work longer and harder in a variety of pursuits that span beyond academics.

It may be hard to believe that there are so many opportunities to develop skills in a given area from attending a little school in Rexburg, Idaho. But just as BYU-Idaho takes huge steps in innovating learning and maximizing resources, students learn to be innovative hard-workers who know how to problem-solve and communicate effectively. Most students who realize the potential they have in being admitted to this school and who take advantage of the opportunities offered here quickly learn how to make their BYU-Idaho experience worthwhile.
