3 College Freshman

Transportation: I usually just walk or get a ride, so its pretty easy

5 College Freshman

Academics: Its awesome to have discussions in class about what you are passionate about. the teachers really care about you

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I really love going to BYU-I because of what it provides for me and the people there are so nice.

3 College Freshman

Weather: The winter is horrible, but spring and summer time is AMAZING.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Not a lot of varitey, and not alot of chain food resturants from home towns.

5 College Freshman

Party Scene: Many people go home at cerfew so not many people are out.

5 College Freshman

Greek Life: We don't have Greek life at our school, so there is not that clique.

4 College Freshman

Local Area: I really like the atmosphere of the town because people are very friendly.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: Sports isn't a big thing at this university because their focus is more on our education than on sports.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I really like the housing and the cost. The distance to some buildings on campus is good, but to other buildings its pretty far.

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: There are many parties that are off campus, but not many parties on campus. There really isn't anything to do at night at Rexburg.

2 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Not much to do late night, and they are not very many options at all. they need more things close to campus and off-campus as well.

3 College Freshman

Majors: There aren't many programs, which I kind of wish there were so then there would be more urgency on campus and more urgency to strive academically, well, it would just push us to do better and get more prepared for the real world, at least I think.

4 College Freshman

Majors: They still need to grow in regards to their diverse options for majors, but it is mainly the minors that are subpar. They have good options though!

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Student health is great and pretty well organized. The one time I had to go in i was out very quickly and it was all just very well done and set up nicely. They really do take care of students well there.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: there is a good amount of diveristy, but not nearly a smuch as other schools. Many students com from similar backgrounds so this can be challenging sometimes, but even so, they are all really accepting and understanding.

2 College Freshman

Scholarships: It is pretty hard for all students to receive some sort of financial aid, and it sometimes is a hassle to have to go through it. This is why I am hoping to finally get my opportunity here.

4 College Freshman

Academics: Academics are great, and they really focus on integrating it with good, christian core values and beliefs to help you thrive not only in the work place, but in your future family and home as well. This is what makes BYU-Idaho stand out.

4 College Freshman

Technology: The computers on campus are very up to date and they even had Microsoft employees going around talking about the new Windows 8 and 8.1, so this is something that is growing very well on campus. The wireless connection is pretty good everywhere you go on campus.

1 College Freshman

Athletics: This is what gets a lot of students, is that we don't have a varsity sports program. It is only intramural or student run, so we don't play against other schools, etc. This is probably one of the worst things about the campus, but other than that, it is great!

5 College Freshman

Drug Safety: This is what is great about this school, the student atmosphere. No one does drugs or smokes, drinks, etc. It's great to just not have to worry about all of that stuff that really distracts you from what you should be doing.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: I dind't even realize but there are no shuttles to and from campus, only one apartment complex has that. But we all really live so close you can just walk, or people drive, so it's not too bad.

2 College Freshman

Party Scene: Not much happening here, no parties, but when there are, they are okay. Uprising is the only noteworthy one, other than that it is fun to just create things with your friends: go to the sand dunes, the ice caves, etc.

3 College Freshman

Local Area: It's a small town so there isn't much going on past 8 or 9pm. Other than that, the local atmosphere is good, people are super nice to you wherever you are and that make sup for a lot that the city lacks.

1 College Freshman

Weather: If you don't like the cold, you will learn what dying and coming back to life is haha. It gets down to the -20s and low -30s, but the snow is a lot of fun! It's really windy but during the spring and summer time it's 80s to low 90s, so it is perfect!

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

BYU-Idaho professors and other students take a lot of interest in students personally, to help them achieve their academic goals and improve their overall well-being. They care about how you do in classes, what you have to contribute to the school, and what you're doing besides school to enhance your lifelong learning. The BYU-I experience really becomes what the students make it. Students who just study to get by learn to do the bare minimum with the least amount of effort, and students who want to make the most of their education and learn and grow from being a student work longer and harder in a variety of pursuits that span beyond academics.

It may be hard to believe that there are so many opportunities to develop skills in a given area from attending a little school in Rexburg, Idaho. But just as BYU-Idaho takes huge steps in innovating learning and maximizing resources, students learn to be innovative hard-workers who know how to problem-solve and communicate effectively. Most students who realize the potential they have in being admitted to this school and who take advantage of the opportunities offered here quickly learn how to make their BYU-Idaho experience worthwhile.
