Campus Housing: Most housing here is not technically "on campus" but the apartments are very close to campus and work closely with the University. I have heard wonderful things about the housing that is actually on University grounds as well.

Overall Experience: I love BYU-Idaho. It is a school that is unlike most. It has the credentials of a University, but feels much more personal in each of the classes. I have come to know most of my professors very well and I feel like they are always concerned with my success and will do what they can to help me. The tuition is very reasonable, the teachers are great, and the campus is absolutely beautiful.

Athletics: Our school is interesting because we do not participate in intercollegiate sports on our campus. Intramural sports are very popular here however, and provide an excellent opportunity for all students to get involved if they wish. There are a wide variety of intramural sports offered and levels ranging from advanced to beginner.

Health & Safety: The campus does not have a lot of crime or assaults. In fact I did not hear about a single one the entire time. They also have emergency poles that you can push if you are in trouble.

Overall Experience: I would say that most of the professors really care about the topics that they are teaching. Sometimes they fall into the categories where they think their class is the most important, but overall it is good quality.

Overall Experience: I would say that the job prospects and internships are held in really high esteem. A lot of the time the career center will help you get an internship as quickly as possible. They also think degrees are very important and push you to finish.

Campus Housing: The dorms were nice, but the only problem I found was half of them do not have kitchens in them. They are very affordable though.

Greek Life: This school does not have a Greek life. I don't think that it really matters to the school or students.

Athletics: This school only has intramural sports, but the participation and fan base is as much as it would be if they did have varsity sports.

Overall Experience: I enjoy the fact that the school has multiple extracurricular activities that do not take up all of your time. This makes it easy to participate but still do well in school. They also have many job options on campus that can relate to most of the programs that they offer. Also, the school offers many events throughout the year that you normally wouldn't see at schools.

Athletics: There is not an official sports team, yet there are lots of sporting activities here on campus to be enjoyed by all.

Health & Safety: The campus police make active patrols, there is a no tolerance honor code which helps a lot. In general the only time something is stolen is when someone forgets something in a public place.

Overall Experience: For my chosen career the future looks great. There are many paid internships available to give me good experience along with a lot of professional help to get us where we need to be.

Health & Safety: I feel very safe on campus- I've never even felt the slightest bit unsafe because I know I have professors around me willing to protect me.

Overall Experience: Small classes, which is nice. The largest class I had had 45 students, although you'll find most classes unless they are lecture end up including closer to 30.

Overall Experience: I loved Brigham Young University- Idaho. For an LDS young single adult who is wanting to be able to easily live the standards of that church, it is perfect. The standards at BYUI are high, including a dress and shave code. I didn't understand or like it at first, but after the first few weeks I understood why those rules were in place. When people are constantly looking their best when attending classes (no sweats, tank-tops, etc), they find it much easier to concentrate, and the teacher feels like the students actually care about class.

The grounds are beautiful. Unique to BYUI is the Rick's gardens, home to the botanist and plant science classes. Almost in the direct center, it is a wonderful place to go on dates, do homework, take a shortcut through, or just meditate. It is beautiful and up-kept at all times of year, including winter when they have the student staff shoveling the snow.

The location is great. Located in the center of Rexburg, you can find the grocery store within a half mile radius, and almost all approved housing is located within that radius as well. I was able to walk to campus every day because of the closeness of my apartment, a mere 2.5 blocks from campus.

The only thing I would complain about is the weather. In the winter, after Dec. 1 it snows like crazy, and then, when you think it can't get any colder, the wind starts blowing. If you are considering attending this school during the fall and winter semester I would highly recommend owning a few scarves, gloves, and a heavy winter coat along with a pair of snowshoes.

There is always something going on, whether it's a dance, learning to juggle, or rollerskating (on Monday and Wednesday nights). It is easy to become involved in the school and not get lost in the shuffle.

Party Scene: The best parties are usually buffet parties or near the holidays of Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.

Campus Housing: The nice thing is in general most people respect you. But there is a sense of fake that is in each person. They don't care about you they tolerate you. At least that was my experience only a small handful of people I felt really cared and I was a stranger to them.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

BYU-Idaho professors and other students take a lot of interest in students personally, to help them achieve their academic goals and improve their overall well-being. They care about how you do in classes, what you have to contribute to the school, and what you're doing besides school to enhance your lifelong learning. The BYU-I experience really becomes what the students make it. Students who just study to get by learn to do the bare minimum with the least amount of effort, and students who want to make the most of their education and learn and grow from being a student work longer and harder in a variety of pursuits that span beyond academics.

It may be hard to believe that there are so many opportunities to develop skills in a given area from attending a little school in Rexburg, Idaho. But just as BYU-Idaho takes huge steps in innovating learning and maximizing resources, students learn to be innovative hard-workers who know how to problem-solve and communicate effectively. Most students who realize the potential they have in being admitted to this school and who take advantage of the opportunities offered here quickly learn how to make their BYU-Idaho experience worthwhile.
