Off-Campus Dining: Main street is within walking distance of campus, which is where you can find a variety of NOT mainstream restaurant options as well as some normal fast food chains. You've got classics like Taco Bell, Dominos, and Pizza Hut, or Original Thai, New York Burrito, The Hickory, and many more.

Guys & Girls: Everyone is pretty nice. The majority of the school is LDS, so everyone follows those standards and it makes it really easy to make friends with the same standards. Everyone on campus has clean looks and doesn't dress overly sloppy. Everyone just wants to have fun, so you can always find someone with the same likes as you.

Overall Experience: BYU-Idaho is so underrated. Everyone thinks that BYU-Provo is the top choice, but really going to BYU-Idaho has been the best thing for me. The student population is a lot smaller than Provo, so you can actually know the people at your school and the classes will be small too. There is always something fun going on, either on campus or off campus. Students get together all the time to do fun things, and the school has a lot of fun things to do as well. I don't know many schools that have actual ski and snowboarding classes in the winter, or do pond skimming competitions. There is also an outdoors campus that students can go and do shooting, ropes course, etc. Really one of the best schools for your money.

Academics: All the major's at the school really prepare you for your future career. Most of my classes are either hands on in some form, or require me to take a class that will be hands on. The facilities are really nice, not the newest of the technologies, but probably just one step down. Everyone takes care of the equipment and what they use because they know other students will be using them. I love my major so much!

Academics: BYU-Idaho used to be a two year university, so they have really great programs in a wide variety of subjects. All the programs now are up to bachelor degrees, and they all are great. The teachers care about the students and classes are usually small enough so the teachers will know your name. Registering is not that difficult, and you can usually get all the classes you want.

Majors: As far as I know, there aren't applications for most of the majors. I'm sure any of the pre-med majors have applications, but my major of Communications didn't. It makes it really easy to start finding out what you want to do without worrying about applications.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: Everyone says their major is the best, but Communications really is the best major. The major is so broad, you meet students in all fields! One minute you're talking to a journalism student and the next you are talking to an advertising student. All of the faculty care about the students and have years of experience and advice to share. Plus, there are so many resources for finding internships and jobs. There is not a ton of work, but all the work you get will take time. It's common knowledge for Comm students that our major is not hard, it just takes a lot of time!

College Sophomore

Greek Life: There is no greek life at the school. You don't go to BYU-Idaho to be part of a frat or sorority, you go there for the education.

Local Area: Rexburg is great when it comes to outdoors activities. You have the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park about an hour away, and each have their own great things to do. There isn't a ton of shopping to do in Rexburg itself, you need to go to Idaho Falls for that, but it makes for a great night when you do!

Party Scene: I choose not to attend nightlife events or do anything that would compromise my education at BYU-I so I would not know where to find those places.

Academics: My major, psychology, requires extensive time and is a large work load but it is so rewarding as well. I have a true passion for my major and am looking forward to learning about it even further.

Academics: All of the above is excellent and so helpful. I can always get answers i am looking for with ease and friendliness.

Majors: Since declaring to be a psychology major and humanities minor, I have grown to love school and learning immensely. I love going to school everyday and studying for exams and quizzes.

College Senior

Majors: I have not had the opportunity to go through an internship yet

College Senior

Greek Life: We do not have those because my school believes in being unified as BYU-I students and seperating students socially is not of interest to them.

Campus Housing: Each housing complex has weekly clean checks so to keep clean homes throughout each semester. There are many options to choose from with excellent housing fees that will work with you depending on your financial situation.

Administration: We are strongly asked to live by the Honor Code of our school which we agree to live by before being accepted into the University. We understand that if we break honor code in any way (drinking, drugs, out past curfew, opposite sex past our living room or premarital sex), we will be asked to go home and come back when appropriate.

Campus Quality: Our school widely focuses on academic performance and leaves the sports to BYU-Provo. However, we have an excellent gym facility and encourage their students to attend by offering free memberships.

4 College Senior

Guys & Girls: Many of the girls and guys fit a certain mold at my school since it is a religious, private university. All students obey a dress code which is to dress professionally and appropriately while attending class and are encouraged to dress respectfully at all times outside of class. The students are always willing to help one another and participate in regular church meetings and do service for those who need it.

2 College Senior

Scholarships: My school bases their scholarships on who needs it the most and although they believe I do not need help, I am in desperate need to finish my final year of college.

2 College Senior

Local Area: I live in the middle of nowhere in Rexburg, Idaho and although I love my school, I would never live here after i graduate because it is very slow paced and not my style.

5 College Senior

Overall Experience: Courses and teachers are excellent at my school and always inspiring. Almost all of my teachers have made attempts to learn my name and who I am

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: I am always getting emails from internships and job opportunities post-degree to help those who are looking for jobs. We have many career centers online including a resume center and how to act in an interview

3 College Senior

Diversity: There is not much diversity on campus but enough to allow learning, growth and acceptance of people who are different than you

3 College Senior

Local Area: There are some local attractions. But if you want to go to a museum then you have to drive a half hour away to Idaho Falls.

View student contributors

BYU-Idaho professors and other students take a lot of interest in students personally, to help them achieve their academic goals and improve their overall well-being. They care about how you do in classes, what you have to contribute to the school, and what you're doing besides school to enhance your lifelong learning. The BYU-I experience really becomes what the students make it. Students who just study to get by learn to do the bare minimum with the least amount of effort, and students who want to make the most of their education and learn and grow from being a student work longer and harder in a variety of pursuits that span beyond academics.

It may be hard to believe that there are so many opportunities to develop skills in a given area from attending a little school in Rexburg, Idaho. But just as BYU-Idaho takes huge steps in innovating learning and maximizing resources, students learn to be innovative hard-workers who know how to problem-solve and communicate effectively. Most students who realize the potential they have in being admitted to this school and who take advantage of the opportunities offered here quickly learn how to make their BYU-Idaho experience worthwhile.
