Party Scene: depends on what you are looking for

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: Like every place there are some security concerns because no where is without crime.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: It's like any other small college town.

Athletics: We don't have competitive sports anymore just inter-murals. That being said fitness as a whole is important or becomes important to a lot of people on campus. What with climbing a mountain to go to class everyday you get in shape pretty quickly.

Scholarships: my family doesn't get a low enough income

Health & Safety: I feel like our campus is aware of both of them

Administration: you follow the honor code or you get kicked out.

Off-Campus Dining: the normal food chain places

4 Recent Alumnus

Majors: I loved my internship, the pay and work was good.

5 Recent Alumnus

Majors: My teachers convinced me to go into my program.

3 Recent Alumnus

Party Scene: I'm not big into partying

Greek Life: Not a big difference between the two on campus

3 College Junior

Scholarships: It's a pretty good long process and it took a couple semesters to get the process down but it's not bad for the amount of students here. Sign up early and watch on any updates in your school finances and that's about all you can do.

Off-Campus Housing: I LOVE the perks at Rexburg Housing. We have an honor/dress code requiring clean shaven and my housing complex gives 2 free hair cuts a semester. It's great. Prices could be a little less. I'm right next to campus which is super nice and the managers are great. Parking is taken care of decently but the parking lot is a little small.

Off-Campus Dining: The prices are pretty average with any other restaurant. If the majority of the restaurants were closer to the campus, that would be nice as well as adding a few more student discounts. There is a decent amount of different places.

Party Scene: The parties in Rexburg are fun and most importantly they are clean. School, housing, and student parties are definitely my favorite. There are big parties called the uprising but from my experience, they are questionable morally. There are dozens of parties across campus every weekend but they are much smaller and less crazy than a typical college party. I would say that these have a positive impact on the school/students because we are able to relax and stay sane from homework.

Athletics: BYU-Idaho is a private, church-funded, university and has chosen to not have varsity sports as part of school life. We have a TON of intramural sports and activities and I would say half of the school is involved in them somehow. It creates a super fun, healthy, and social environment across the campus. For the lack of a varsity team, I would say that we actually have pretty great facilities to the students disposal.

4 College Sophomore

Party Scene: It's controlled, but still very fun and I enjoy it

5 College Sophomore

Administration: Not too strict, just enough to be able to do well and be safe

Health & Safety: I feel totally safe and there are plenty of resources

Scholarships: The office is always too crowded, but worked out.

Off-Campus Housing: It's worth the freedom and it isn't too expensive

Overall Experience: BYU-Idaho focuses on a Gospel-centered learning model. The class sizes are much smaller than many state universities, even BYU. Many of my professors have been obviously passionate about the subjects they teach which has helped me want to learn. Almost all of them are more than willing to help students one on one also. Apparently, the courses are not as challenging as in larger schools, but I believe there is as much opportunity to learn and excel as anywhere.

Guys & Girls: As I guy, BYU-I is the place to find girls. There are about twice as many girls as there are boys on campus, and almost every one of them is clean, attractive, smart, modest and classy.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

BYU-Idaho professors and other students take a lot of interest in students personally, to help them achieve their academic goals and improve their overall well-being. They care about how you do in classes, what you have to contribute to the school, and what you're doing besides school to enhance your lifelong learning. The BYU-I experience really becomes what the students make it. Students who just study to get by learn to do the bare minimum with the least amount of effort, and students who want to make the most of their education and learn and grow from being a student work longer and harder in a variety of pursuits that span beyond academics.

It may be hard to believe that there are so many opportunities to develop skills in a given area from attending a little school in Rexburg, Idaho. But just as BYU-Idaho takes huge steps in innovating learning and maximizing resources, students learn to be innovative hard-workers who know how to problem-solve and communicate effectively. Most students who realize the potential they have in being admitted to this school and who take advantage of the opportunities offered here quickly learn how to make their BYU-Idaho experience worthwhile.
