Health & Safety: I feel very safe on campus. On average, only a handful students out of 15,000 per semester do drugs or participate in any violent or degrading sexual activities, and those few who are caught are not often allowed back into this university. On a daily basis, I never question my safety and can often walk alone at night with a good feeling, on or off campus.

Administration: This school is strict on strict. In order to even attend this university, you have to abide an honor code and live by honorable and virtuous standards every day. It keeps the students engaging and positive, because the ones that come want to be there, and that makes the campus more uplifting overall.

Off-Campus Dining: Off campus dining doesn't offer the healthiest food choices, especially if it's not from home. There are lots of fast food places, and some offer more ethnic variations, such as Chinese and Spanish cuisines, but because of the location of the university, things are more or less limited.

Off-Campus Housing: Not bad prices. Just some old apartments, and some new apartments ....which are a little more costly.

Campus Housing: Not many people live on the dorms because of all the options for apartments here in Rexburg. There are a lot of new apartment building that have been built in the last 5 years and they are very nice. the cost is reasonable and there are a lot of amenities that are offered at a lot of the apartments such as laundry in the apartments, trash pickup, wifi in each apartment...

Local Area: There is not much to do around here. It is very small town with not much to do. I come from a big city with a lot to do and places to go. If you want to do anything you will have to drive to go and do it. There are a lot of outdoor activities... such as the dunes, "R" mountain, the caves (etc).

Majors: I changed my major from Recreational Management to Geology over the summer. I am unsure of how the work load will be for my major. I do know from my experience here at school the do expect a lot out of ,and they expect you to do your best in all that you do. They expect you spend 2 hours per class. It can be hard and daunting at times but you get out what you put into your studies here at BYU-I. It is important that you put effort into your learning from the first day of the semester till the end because it can make or break you.

Majors: I do plan on having an internship while I am in school. I know here at BYU-I they try and give you as many opportunities to find a internships. Teachers will send out emails of internships that are available around the area. I feel like the professors want you to succeed but they also want you to do your best, and put everything you have into your learning.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

BYU-Idaho professors and other students take a lot of interest in students personally, to help them achieve their academic goals and improve their overall well-being. They care about how you do in classes, what you have to contribute to the school, and what you're doing besides school to enhance your lifelong learning. The BYU-I experience really becomes what the students make it. Students who just study to get by learn to do the bare minimum with the least amount of effort, and students who want to make the most of their education and learn and grow from being a student work longer and harder in a variety of pursuits that span beyond academics.

It may be hard to believe that there are so many opportunities to develop skills in a given area from attending a little school in Rexburg, Idaho. But just as BYU-Idaho takes huge steps in innovating learning and maximizing resources, students learn to be innovative hard-workers who know how to problem-solve and communicate effectively. Most students who realize the potential they have in being admitted to this school and who take advantage of the opportunities offered here quickly learn how to make their BYU-Idaho experience worthwhile.
