4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: The help is there if you need them. They always seem to get there at the right time to break up something that shouldn't be happening. They are friendly and willing to help you if you need it.

3 College Sophomore

Local Area: There really isn't much to do up in Rexburg. There are a couple bowling alleys, and a few restaurants. It is hard to find things to do every weekend that are different, so a lot of people will go down to Idaho Falls and do things there. It isn't too far away, but it would be nice to not have to leave and drive 30 miles to go do something fun.

4 College Sophomore

Administration: They are very good at helping and fixing situations. They are all very nice. Sometimes you can catch them on a bad day and its just not good for anybody, but everyone has days like that, even the students. They are all willing to help if we need it, which I appreciate very much.

3 College Freshman

Majors: BYU-Idaho offers some really great programs for the majors they offer; however, there are so many majors that they do not offer, which can be disappointing.

College Freshman

Greek Life: We do not have Greek Life on campus.

Off-Campus Housing: Off-campus housing is great. You can find a pretty nice place for a decent price.

Campus Housing: I have never lived on campus. I have lived off-campus my whole college experience.

3 College Freshman

Administration: Campus is very strict. As students we promise to follow the Honor Code and they hold us to that promise. They are not lenient on the rules that follow that code. However, I do see the blessings it brings when following the strict rules set forth. I would say our school is probably one of the most strict universities out there. But I knew that and I still signed up. I stand by the decision I made and the promises I said I would keep.

Local Area: I love the small town feel and the friendliness of the locals and the students living in the area. There are so many activities offered through the school and there are fun things to do around town. It is a wonderful and happy place to be.

Athletics: Our school does not have competitive sports, only intramurals and club sports. Our student body lacks heavily in school spirit, there is close to none. That is something I wish would change.

Off-Campus Dining: There is some variety of options when it comes to off-campus dining; however, the options are not the healthiest and are not always the cheapest. I would like to see more of a variety. Student discounts would also be very helpful to all of us poor college students.

Majors: The teachers really want to help you progress.

Local Area: A great place to feel safe and focus on quality.

College Freshman

Campus Housing: I don't live on campus. I live by campus

5 College Junior

Majors: I just declared a major in Child Development without having to go through a process of applying. We are given the degree audit to know when to take certain classes and how to graduate in 8 semesters.

College Junior

Greek Life: We don't have any Greeks on campus that I know of.

3 College Junior

Campus Food: There is a lot of variety on campus at the Crossroads. I used to eat there a lot more and I liked that I could eat something different every day. The food is quite pricey so if you are trying to save money, it wouldn't be a good option. I know there are meal plans, but I don't know much about it because I have never had one.

4 College Junior

Athletics: We don't have varsity sports that go play against other universities, but our intramural program is excellent. There are many sports available for both men and women to play. The facilities are excellent. We have a gym with 10 different courts on it both for free play and for the games during the week. There are tournaments in different sports that provide students with opportunities to compete within the university.

5 College Junior

Health & Safety: I feel safe walking across campus even at night. I know that it is a safe and quiet place where nobody is getting drunk and harassing somebody else. The officers on campus offer the chance for people who don't feel safe walking home alone to be escorted home. I know that when I come across somebody else on campus after dark, they are more likely to smile and say hello than they are to harm me in any way.

Campus Housing: There are excellent apartments off campus with great social life. There are some complexes that have reputations for being naughty, but overall we have great places to live. There are definitely differences in the places to live. If you want to live in luxury, you live in the bigger, more expensive ones. If you like simple and small, you strive for the smaller and cheaper ones. But no matter what, the housing is great wherever you live.

2 College Sophomore

Local Area: Basically, if you don't have a car, you live on campus. The college is the town, and the nearest city is Idaho Falls, half and hour away. The college itself isn't bad unless you enjoy traveling and scenery.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

BYU-Idaho professors and other students take a lot of interest in students personally, to help them achieve their academic goals and improve their overall well-being. They care about how you do in classes, what you have to contribute to the school, and what you're doing besides school to enhance your lifelong learning. The BYU-I experience really becomes what the students make it. Students who just study to get by learn to do the bare minimum with the least amount of effort, and students who want to make the most of their education and learn and grow from being a student work longer and harder in a variety of pursuits that span beyond academics.

It may be hard to believe that there are so many opportunities to develop skills in a given area from attending a little school in Rexburg, Idaho. But just as BYU-Idaho takes huge steps in innovating learning and maximizing resources, students learn to be innovative hard-workers who know how to problem-solve and communicate effectively. Most students who realize the potential they have in being admitted to this school and who take advantage of the opportunities offered here quickly learn how to make their BYU-Idaho experience worthwhile.
