5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I love this school very much. All the students are very friendly and the teachers are very friendly. The homework is do-able and it prepares us very well for the lesson in class.

Health & Safety: Though it is not perfect, and there are still crimes in the area, BYU-I does the best it can to keep its students safe by setting rules and guidelines for the students to follow. Also, because of the religious beliefs of many of the students it is much more unlikely that the students will fall to alcohol and assault someone or be assaulted. Overall, I feel extremely safe on campus, but I still prefer to walk with one other person in the dark of the night.

Overall Experience: The professors are always willing to listen, and they give the best possible education they can. With the courses, you get out of it what you put into it, so really you learn as you study. There are a great many courses offered, and with the new online courses you don't even have to go to class. The class sizes vary based on the level of study and how many students are signed up for it, but typically you will find about 30 students in one class setting.

Campus Housing: I technically live in an apartment close to campus, so I don't know much about the dorms, but there are many options on where to live, and the one I live in is one of the best complexes I've ever been in. It's clean, the manager is friendly, and it's very close to campus and close to the grocery store as well.

1 College Junior

Greek Life: As far as I know, it's non-existent. I haven't heard of any sororities or fraternities on campus, and honestly I don't find that to be a bad thing. Depending on where you live, you will have roommates you can bond with and spend time with just like how you would with a sorority or fraternity. It's just less-formal.

3 College Junior

Athletics: We don't really have official teams, so there is no competition with other schools to get the school spirit up, but some people do organize clubs, and there are plenty who exercise and play sports for fun.

Overall Experience: I think I am truly blessed to be in such a school. Not only is the education phenomenal for the price, but everyone, including the students and professors, are truly wonderful and unique. Sometimes you may feel the required general studies classes are unnecessary for your major, but each one teaches necessary skills for life, and the teachers make sure to show you that. Overall, a wonderful school and I would recommend it to anyone.

Health & Safety: This campus is very safe and ensures everyone is home at curfew and is safe and sound

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: The courses are interesting and the professors really care about your learning at the school.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I would love to get a degree here and be able to further myself in getting a career through their options

5 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I loved living at the Centre Square Apartment! The people there are very friendly and we always have fun social events there

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: We don't really live a Greek life

3 College Freshman

Athletics: The athletics at my school aren't a huge deal but they have lots of intramurals that a lot of people like to participate in. Being part of a sports team here is another way to meet new people and is more of a fun and social event.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: There are rarely any crimes at this school

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: The professors here at BYUI care about the students education and well being. They are concerned about our success. All of the professors encourage students to do homework and incorporate the gospel into their lives.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I am not positive hiring managers will be impressed with a degree from BYUI

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I love the environment and the people there. The students there are very friendly and they have helped me so much when I went through rough times. The professors are extremely helpful and wonderful people and care about the students learning. The goal of the school is to help you grow in knowledge as well as becoming a disciple of Christ, to grow spiritually and gain a stronger testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Campus Housing: I have never seen college dorms as big or nice as centre square. They are actual apartments loaded with huge amounts of space. They are also cheap

3 College Freshman

Athletics: Extracurricular activities are great! The only problem is, there are no actual varsity sports, only intramurals.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: At BYUI, there is a great potential for a student to have a wonderful experience. The only problem with schooling is getting into the class with the teacher that is desired. The sign up process is a bit inconvenient sometimes. But the experience here is great and definitely worth the money. Speaking of money, it is dirt cheap to attend this school that has nice facilities, nicer than most colleges.

5 College Junior

Health & Safety: There is very little, if any, campus crime, and the crime in the surrounding area (off-campus) is very low. There are stations all over campus where you can press a button for emergency help. There are also lights all over campus for when it's dark.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: The courses are interesting, and there's a great variety; however, the workload can be rough. There's often a lot of busywork. Class sizes are relatively small, so you get more individual attention. Professors are helpful most of the time, but some of my professors have been more difficult than others.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: They have endless resources for job/internship prospects... but most of these prospects are in Idaho, Utah, or New York.

3 College Junior

Athletics: We don't have school teams, but we have plenty of intramural sports, and both the Hart building and the I-center are filled with resources for athletes and students. They rent out equipment for sports, and they have a great football stadium.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: The atmosphere at BYU-I is filled with hope and opportunities for growth. There are so many activities, clubs, study groups, etc. to help me grow in my knowledge, spirituality, and my hobbies. The people are wonderful, and I have had the incredible opportunity to expand my dancing abilities and become the person I want to be. The workload is difficult and strenuous, but there are endless resources to aid students all over campus. Some professors are better than others, but that is to be expected. Overall, it's a wonderful school and a great place to be!

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

BYU-Idaho professors and other students take a lot of interest in students personally, to help them achieve their academic goals and improve their overall well-being. They care about how you do in classes, what you have to contribute to the school, and what you're doing besides school to enhance your lifelong learning. The BYU-I experience really becomes what the students make it. Students who just study to get by learn to do the bare minimum with the least amount of effort, and students who want to make the most of their education and learn and grow from being a student work longer and harder in a variety of pursuits that span beyond academics.

It may be hard to believe that there are so many opportunities to develop skills in a given area from attending a little school in Rexburg, Idaho. But just as BYU-Idaho takes huge steps in innovating learning and maximizing resources, students learn to be innovative hard-workers who know how to problem-solve and communicate effectively. Most students who realize the potential they have in being admitted to this school and who take advantage of the opportunities offered here quickly learn how to make their BYU-Idaho experience worthwhile.
