Administration: They keep the campus clean and secure. There are trash receptacles conveniently located all over campus and there are panic buttons for emergencies. Also there is a campus curfew so the buildings close and most student head home to sleep or do more studying. Quiet hours begin at 10 pm every day which is nice for those students who have earlier classes or doing late-night studying.

Scholarships: The process isn't very much complicated, but the setback is that there are tons of people seeking financial aid, and the fact that i am an international student and the school doesn't have much aid for me to take advantage of.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: the school is very much secure than any other place i have been on, and this is attributed to the fact most students are royal to their religion.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: They are many girls as compared to males students, but the truth is that most guys are way into their studies because they think thegirls expect more from them.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Boys and girls are all respectfully and professionally dressed. Not a big variety of races and ethnicities. Most of the people here are Caucasian. This isn't really an issue as there are a few people to create diversity.

5 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: No one is doing drugs. If they are, they are usually quickly reported and kicked out of school.

4 College Senior

Athletics: We don't have a college football team or a college basketball team or anything like that but we have a ton of sports teams. We have and intramurals. So you have an option to join the competitive teams and try out and have fun trying to win or you can just join the intramurals and just have fun playing games and enjoying playing the sports. I love this! It gives me and others an opportunity to try new sports that I didn't do in high school and become good at them.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: There are a ton of fast food places around campus. There are also some sit down restaurants and a ton of local restaurants! I would go to the local ones! They generally have really good food, a lot of variety, and are really cool!

3 College Senior

Diversity: We have students from all around the world. This is an excellent school and people want to come. Although the school is in Idaho so a lot of the students are of the Mormon religion and quite a few are from Idaho and Utah. We are a religion based school so most of our student body is part of the Mormon religion. But we welcome everybody who wants to come! I feel like the students are fairly accepting and very friendly. We also have an honor code system that we agree to follow when we apply to the school and that keeps people a little more focused on their education.

3 College Senior

Party Scene: The night life isn't your typical college scene. There are no bars close that I know of and if there are you probably won't meet a lot of people. But there is a lot to do instead. The campus usually hosts a dance at the end of the week and those are awesome! Also people are always going to the sand dunes that are not far away. The apartments always have parties going on and there is a lot of good clean fun.

3 College Senior

Health & Safety: I usually feel very safe on campus. I have had a few night classes that were far from my apartment and I never had any scary experiences. I have also never heard of scary experiences from others. There are a lot of police men in the area and around the school so if you stay in open places you're probably fine. Also they have these security polls set up around campus so that you can call security if you feel even slightly uneasy.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Most of the guys and girls are LDS and live the standards set out by the church. The guys are clean cut, shaved, and for the most part good-looking. The girls are cute, modestly dressed, and nice.

4 College Junior

Majors: it wasn't hard as soon as i made the decision of what i wanted to be it was easy to switch my major over and continue taking classes.

4 College Junior

Academics: there are many options for majors and then within those majors there are minors to choose from so a good variety there. then we have great connection to get people internships and all the teachers have had hands on experience of some sort so it's great to get a first hand accounts of real life situations

5 College Junior

Scholarships: Most everyone can get a scholarship if they need one to pay for school. I've had scholarships and loans through the school and both were easy to get.

5 College Junior

Diversity: We have students from all over the world! it's a great experience getting to know them. We are a Religion based school but we accept anyone who might want to come! We welcome everyone and i think that is something amazing about this school.

4 College Junior

Academics: We have great professors all of them have or are working on their master degrees they are all kind and willing to do all they can to provide the best learning environment for the students.

4 College Junior

Scholarships: The financial office does the best they can but everything is a slow process.

5 College Junior

Drug Safety: Mostly every student is drug and alcohol free. No peer pressure there.

4 College Junior

Parking: There seems to be a lot of parking but I don't drive, so I am not an expert in that area.

3 College Junior

Athletics: We have sports but they are not international. Also, we are not supportive of our teams; I hardly know what's going on and I bet no one knows our school colors or mascot (Vikings?)

3 College Sophomore

Weather: If you love the snow, this is the place, almost half the year it is cold enough to snow. The cold isn't to bad though, because all the apartments that are available are easily within walking distance, but it would still be wise to learn to drive on ice.

3 College Sophomore

Local Area: Even though Rexburg is an incredibly small town nearly everything here has been tailored for college students. Nearly everyplace has some sort of school discount, group discount, or some other way to save money. Also, because the school knows there is only a limited number of things to do they host tons of activities every night to keep students active.

3 College Senior

Weather: The only draw back are the winters, which can get pretty harsh. Unfortunately, those winters last about half of the year here, so if you get a bad winter it lasts forever.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: The ratio is 4 girls to every one guy. This is for the singles. However, lately, they're evening off. We get students from deep south Texas to Eskimo Alaska to places unpronounceable that are found in the middle of the African desert. Most are very nice and very friendly and always willing to lend a helping hand. It's easy to make friends, with the campus being so small, but the students' hearts are huge.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

BYU-Idaho professors and other students take a lot of interest in students personally, to help them achieve their academic goals and improve their overall well-being. They care about how you do in classes, what you have to contribute to the school, and what you're doing besides school to enhance your lifelong learning. The BYU-I experience really becomes what the students make it. Students who just study to get by learn to do the bare minimum with the least amount of effort, and students who want to make the most of their education and learn and grow from being a student work longer and harder in a variety of pursuits that span beyond academics.

It may be hard to believe that there are so many opportunities to develop skills in a given area from attending a little school in Rexburg, Idaho. But just as BYU-Idaho takes huge steps in innovating learning and maximizing resources, students learn to be innovative hard-workers who know how to problem-solve and communicate effectively. Most students who realize the potential they have in being admitted to this school and who take advantage of the opportunities offered here quickly learn how to make their BYU-Idaho experience worthwhile.
