BYU-Idaho is a perfect rural school for those looking for a quieter but equally engaging campus. It is a little icier than most and not nearly as party-oriented as other schools, but for members of the Church of Jesus Christ and those who are looking for a campus that encourages them to rise above the things of the world, this is the place for you! I loved my professors and how passionate they were about teaching their subject; they were always willing to go the extra mile with the student to help him/her learn and grow, in and outside of the classroom. I had a hard time with the dating scene and friend groups, as it all felt a little superficial and immature, but the people I met there were kind and dedicated to their studies. I would be lying if the eternal winter didn't scare me away as well!
My experience with Brigham Young Univserty- Idaho was been pretty good! It's a small university and so every class has a pretty small student to teacher ratio. There's a lot of activities going on every day, so you can find lots of things to do. However, one problem I did have, is that some of the professors aren't very good and they make you feel like you can't ask questions. The college town is also really small and isolated, so there isn't much to do after a while. But, there's a lot of great people there and I've had no trouble making friends.
