3 College Freshman

Technology: It depends on what part of campus you are on and when. Usually it's great, though.

4 College Freshman

Academics: My major is political science and I love all of my professors and enjoy all of my classes!

4 College Freshman

Academics: At BYU-Idaho, they have certain classes that all freshmen have to take and they are called foundations courses.

4 College Senior

Scholarships: I'm still working on it and I know that BYUI will provide the support I deserve and work for.

5 College Senior

Local Area: There are a lot of wide open spaces and parks and fast food places if that's an interest. I love it there and love going to the theatre with my brother who lives nearby.

5 College Senior

Diversity: It's a religious school and there are many different races and even people who aren't religious are accepted into the college.

4 College Senior

Weather: It's pretty cold there, especially in the winter but I like cold environments so I love it!

4 College Senior

Transportation: It's easy to get around on bikes and just walking if you choose an apartment complex close to campus. It's a great way to save gas, otherwise, I do need to familiarize myself with my way around town.

5 College Senior

Technology: I'm not yet in college so I'm earning this scholarship so that I may go but when I looked into BYUI it has exceptional computers and I so look forward to attending!

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Amazing housing for students. as a student you have to live in a buy-i approved housing.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I learn a ton at byu-i. the professors are amazing and want you to succeed.

5 College Freshman

Technology: there are many available computers to use as a student.

5 College Freshman

Parking: parking isn't too hard to come by. its a smaller university.

1 College Freshman

Weather: Winters are brutal. way too cold to do any kind of outdoor activity.

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: There is a curfew at 12 o'clock. so up until then the night life is pretty good but stops at midnight.

5 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: The guys and girls at my school are absolutely amazing. They are very religious and love to socialize with everyone that they come in contact with.

5 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: I would say that there are many attractive men and women at my school. The guys are usually interested in doing the sport teams on campus and going to the Hart building to go work out. Women I have found enjoy lounging around the MC and going on dates. I would say that the styles and looks are all very unique but the women and men are well dressed and modest. Most people especially women, are social. Maybe it was me but some guys were more stand-offish than the women, The Men were social to the women who were more attractive. There were a lot of relationships that I saw. There were so many opportunities to hang out and make new friends.

Campus Housing: I actually live off campus in the approved housing apartments. However it is not that far from the buildings on campus. I pay a little extra for a better, nicer and cleaner living experience and it is surely worth it. If I am social, I get to meet a bunch of people. It is convenient to the grocery and other stores.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: The issue that I had about my financial aid was that specific paperwork was needed and they did not notify me that it was missing til later. This issue was mostly my fault more than the schools'.

5 College Sophomore

Diversity: I think that my school has a lot of diversity in ethnicity. Most people have the same religious beliefs because it is a religious private school.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I have never felt a threat or danger on campus when I was walking on campus. I feel very safe by the people on campus.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I would rate student safety on campus as very good. We have an Honor Code that most everyone lives by that keeps students from participating in activities such as drinking and most dangerous things. I don't know anything really about the student health center, because I've never gone inside.

3 College Freshman

Technology: I don't know much about computer labs, but printing is fairly cheap and available in convenient places on campus. Its pretty essential to have your own computer.

3 College Freshman

Majors: I am currently a sociology major waiting to be allowed to apply for the social work program at my school. It's a pretty competitive program with only so many spots, and I'm currently working on some of the prerequisites for application. Its fairly stressful, but I'm also confident that I'll make it when the time comes.

4 College Student

Diversity: Everyone is welcome, as long as they keep the standards.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

BYU-Idaho professors and other students take a lot of interest in students personally, to help them achieve their academic goals and improve their overall well-being. They care about how you do in classes, what you have to contribute to the school, and what you're doing besides school to enhance your lifelong learning. The BYU-I experience really becomes what the students make it. Students who just study to get by learn to do the bare minimum with the least amount of effort, and students who want to make the most of their education and learn and grow from being a student work longer and harder in a variety of pursuits that span beyond academics.

It may be hard to believe that there are so many opportunities to develop skills in a given area from attending a little school in Rexburg, Idaho. But just as BYU-Idaho takes huge steps in innovating learning and maximizing resources, students learn to be innovative hard-workers who know how to problem-solve and communicate effectively. Most students who realize the potential they have in being admitted to this school and who take advantage of the opportunities offered here quickly learn how to make their BYU-Idaho experience worthwhile.
