Athletics: No collegiate sports teams at BYUI, but a lot of school spirit and intramural teams.

Health & Safety: Since this is a religious school, these kinds of problems don't occur often. But our campus has made sure to set up emergency connection sights/help buttons on beams all across campus, there is lighting throughout all the walkways and through all the 'backstreets' of campus, and have online surveys every semester concerning sexual harassment and safety and what they can do better. I feel safe on campus.

Overall Experience: There are some amazing professors here. They understand the lives of students, and do their best to making learning possible in the busy lives of their students. They make their office hours known and are always open to emails or visits when help is needed. Some can even become your friends by the end of the semester!

There are so many class options, the only downside may be that some classes, like art and dance, are only available to students with that major because of the high demand of the class.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Almost all students who work hard and do well in the school find jobs after they graduate. There are super helpful advisers avalible to help in the employment process, and we have career fairs all the time.

Campus Housing: I have an amazing apartment that is right across the street from campus. Costs vary depending on what you are willing to spend. Finding housing can be a big task when there are so many options, but there are websites available that you select preferences and it will narrow down the options for you. Everyone you live near is super nice, and the social atmosphere is awesome.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: There are no sororities or fraternities at this school.

Athletics: As far as I know, everyone who participates in sports are supported and have many opportunities to exercise their talents and passion. Sports are not a priority at this University, but are open to anyone who wants to participate.

Overall Experience: I absolutely love the spiritual atmosphere of this school. I think it takes my learning to a deeper level that is much more then memorizing and tests. I have found a way to take everything I am learning and truly apply it to a day to day life and to gain a testimony of all its truthfulness. I feel like my learning is more life-long here, and everyone is so nice and friendly!

Health & Safety: I live off campus and there is no security.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Teachers grade really hard but really care and want you to succeed.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I don't have much exposure yet.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I live in off campus housing.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: Sports are all intramural. There is a lot of participation but not the school spirit like the traditional College sports.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Housing is very nice for the money. Very nice campus. Overall experience has been good

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I really appreciate the professors, but some of the courses seem pointless. Some of the General Ed classes are very basic (I felt like I learned those things in High School).

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Campus security Is always around (usually just catching people breaking curfew or skateboarding or something along those lines) and there are many security phones for emergencies. Last semester there was a very vague, non specific threat posted on an anonymous social media site, and the school had tracked down the student by the end of the day and there was lots of security all over campus making sure everything was okay. There Is a very safe environment here on campus

Campus Housing: There is a strong social stigma of only early freshman live at the dorms. They are also more expensive than other off campus housing options. It was fairly easy application process. The rules are enforced a bit too strictly for my taste

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The teachers are generally very good and really care about the students and their success. They are willing to make an extra effort to help the students in any way they can. However, I get frustrated (and I know several others do) with the extremely strict rules.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: There are no intercollegiate sports offered at my school. There is, however, a very nice equipment room for weightlifting and exercising and there are many intramural sports and clubs offered at little to no cost to students.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Really safe! People can walk home alone at night and nothing happens, but I still would not recommend that in general.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: The teachers are great and really care about the students.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: They prepare you for the real world.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

BYU-Idaho professors and other students take a lot of interest in students personally, to help them achieve their academic goals and improve their overall well-being. They care about how you do in classes, what you have to contribute to the school, and what you're doing besides school to enhance your lifelong learning. The BYU-I experience really becomes what the students make it. Students who just study to get by learn to do the bare minimum with the least amount of effort, and students who want to make the most of their education and learn and grow from being a student work longer and harder in a variety of pursuits that span beyond academics.

It may be hard to believe that there are so many opportunities to develop skills in a given area from attending a little school in Rexburg, Idaho. But just as BYU-Idaho takes huge steps in innovating learning and maximizing resources, students learn to be innovative hard-workers who know how to problem-solve and communicate effectively. Most students who realize the potential they have in being admitted to this school and who take advantage of the opportunities offered here quickly learn how to make their BYU-Idaho experience worthwhile.
