Campus Quality: The Fitness and Recreation Center (Fitrec) is honestly the nicest athletic complex you will ever be a member of. Do take advantage of it! It's facilities are breathtaking, completely safe, and they offer tons of great credit and non-credit classes that will seriously enhance your quality of life here.

Campus Quality: The fact that the campus is integrated into the city landscape is a great feature that you don't often get with most colleges. There is always something to do, whether it's going out with friends on a weekend night or going to an always entertaining school-sponsored event. I've never played such an intense game of Bingo!

Weather: While rain can make getting to class a bummer, it's usually pretty beautiful weather and feels great compared to the heat and humidity I'm used to, coming from the south.

Local Area: Boston is great. There's great restaurants and a lot of things to do. Shops are pretty much everywhere and there are alot of museums as well as the feredom trail. It's right where other colleges are so there is a lot of interaction. Lots to do at night or on the weekends. And a great running trail along the charles where you can rollerblade and bike as well.

Academics: Most BU professors are experienced professionals in their field, they provide a real life insight of what to expect for students aspiring for a certain career. They are interested and passionate about their subjects so they are engaging during lecture, they are also networks to future job or internship openings for graduating students.

Campus Quality: The Study Abroad programs are famous for being educational and fun. They provide extensive classes about your major, history classes about the new country you reside in, and offer exciting internships. People come back with a stronger resume and a deeper knowledge of what is to come ahead with their specific occupation.

Campus Quality: BU is probably one of the prettiest campus on Boston, it offers so many facilities such as the fully-equipped gym, extensive research labs, and the newly built or renovated dining halls. It's also nice that it is integrated into the city: malls, groceries, movie theaters, etc. are accessible.

Greek Life: you dont need to join greek life but it will help you on weekends

Campus Food: it's good but you will get sick of it after a while

Off-Campus Dining: Variety in Close Proximity – If I don't want any of the food on campus, there is no problem in going to restaurants nearby. The closest place to eat within walking distance is the Prudential Center, where the Cheesecake Factory and Legal Sea Foods is located, along with other restaurants in the Food Court. If I don't care for the food there, I can take the transit in the middle of campus. A 10 minute ride can take me to any restaurant or fast food place I want to go to.

Campus Quality: In the Middle of It All – I am always able to explore the city of Boston, but Boston University's campus has a hold on me. Just as I believe that I have seen everything the school campus has to offer, there is something new to look at. The GSU (George Sherman Union) is always packed with students either studying, eating or just hanging out with friends. There are many different organizations and events, not only for enjoyment but for academics also. There is never a dull moment when walking through Boston University's campus.

Campus Food: Can't Complain – The have a wide variety and it isn't the same every day. There is always something there to satisfy everyone.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Hard to Find a Boyfriend – Most girls in BU have a hard time finding a boyfriend.
Half the boys are gay, then half of the left over boys are taken, so you are left with the not so great bachelors.
But, if you are really looking for one, some of my friends were successful and got one within a few months into school.
So I would not say it is hopeless, just more on the difficult side.

Drug Safety: BU is really strict on drugs.
When my friends and I compare the strictness on them, BU is by far the strictest I have ever heard about.
You just have to be smart about it. There are still plenty of people who utilizes drugs everyday and are never caught.

3 College Junior

Party Scene: You Can Find It If You Look – There isn't a huge frat scene at BU, but you can find it if you look & get to know the people in Greek life (or join greek life). Many people go to bars and clubs because there are so many options in Boston.

4 College Junior

Campus Food: BU food is pretty great. there's a wide variety. I live off campus now and I miss it!

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: Safe for City Life – BU is a city school, so security will always be a concern. I have never felt unsafe, however, I don't recommed walking in unlit & uncrowded areas of campus late at night. There are usually people everywhere so its not a concern, but just use common sense.

Academics: Academics at BU are no joke. You have to work hard to get good grades. Sometimes it can seem like teachers are making you do rediculous work for no reason, and that can be frusturating. But if you stay on top of things it is manageable.

Drug Safety: Drugs at Boston – Drinking is the more popular activity here although many people do participate in doing drugs.

Off-Campus Housing: Boston Parking – Since Boston is a big city there are definitely parks on the street but it is sometimes difficult to find a spot.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: Bad Judge – Last winter was unusually warm for BU and since I've only been there one year I'm not really a great judge. It definitely got cold but it was nothing unbearable especially for someone from the northeast area like myself

Local Area: Lots of Stuff to Do – BU is in the heart of Boston so there is tons to do. Moreover, there are other nearby stuff to do in the nearby cities. On campus, they also provide a lot of resources but it is up to the students to take advantage of BU's resources.

4 College Junior

Campus Food: Lots of Options - One of the Best – BU has one of the top dining halls in the country (according to a review). They recently opened a new dining hall on the East campus with even more variety. Food can get repetitive overtime but there are retail dining options on campus.

While BU certainly has its downfalls, most of which are due to the sheer size of the University, there are plenty of opportunities to take full advantage of all that it has to offer. For the resourceful and motivated, a little effort will go a long way. The most important thing is to utilize your professors to your advantage. It is their job to be available to their students, and while some are certainly more attentive than others, students are not turned away by a professor when they have gone looking for opportunities or support.

Keeping busy, being well-organized, and choosing a course of study that truly stimulates your intellectual interests will all be really helpful in having a successful experience at BU. Many students dread graduation day, and therefore, leaving Boston is not something they look forward to. On the flip-side, countless others would argue the opposite perspective. Accept your environment and work with it, as well as against it. Do not stay inside for too long, and do not drink away your college years. Make school a priority, and hang out with your professors (they are the best resource you have). Boston is a huge city with a really large population of young people. If you are looking for a taste of city life, and think that you would be able to establish yourself at a big university in a high-paced atmosphere, it is definitely possible to find your niche here.
