Overall Experience: BU is fairly diverse and has a lot of opportunities for freshman and upperclassmen. Grade deflation isn't really a thing, but don't expect easy A's, especially in the science course. Administration doesn't really listen to the student body and the student government is kinda a joke, but overall, I would choose this school again.

Campus Housing: I think BU housing is pretty typical old -style on campus housing. Meaning you get the typical communal bathroom, small room your freshman year and as you continue in school you get better housing options.

Greek Life: We do not have greek housing on campus. A lot of sisters do end up living together on campus and some goes for fraternities. There are some frat houses off campus. Greek life isn't everything at BU but it is a nice community that helps a big school like BU seem a little smaller.

Athletics: The athletics at this school are quality and have a lot of student involvement. The teams are good, depending on which sport you are looking at.

Overall Experience: My experience at Boston University thus far, has been a challenging one, but it has been one filled with many amazing experiences both academically and socially. If I could do it all over again, I would most definitely choose to pursue my post secondary education at Boston University. This school has so many incredible resources that is available to its students. In addition to, although the academic aspect of BU is difficult at times, it is very rewarding because it pushes you and makes you think more intellectually.

Greek Life: Not so much for me

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: I play lacrosse, love the fields.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: I love a majority of the courses I have taken so far, and the professors have yet to fail me. The class sizes are perfect for me and the teaching styles are good too. I like that the professors really care about their ratings and take into account how students learn best.

Overall Experience: BU has a great job board website which has helped me obtain two jobs thus far. I can only imagine that the alumni network is strong, but I have yet to experience that.

Health & Safety: BUPD works very hard to keep our campus safe, and as a result I feel very comfortable as a young ethnic woman, walking around late at night. Dorm security is also really good. I'm not sure how well they treat sexual assaults on campus as they are not commonly heard of. I'm sure they occur, but maybe there are better ways to encourage resources for those who have been assaulted.

3 College Senior

Campus Housing: Dorms are adequate. Campus apartments are slowly being renovated, with much improvement, but the central campus white stones have yet to be renovated too. There are still problems with the buildings in the winter. The housing process recently became easier due to the new online system. Convenience points are also nice, but unfortunately the GSU does not take credit card for students without dining plans. The cost to live on campus, unfortunately, is constantly increasing making it more difficult to afford.

3 College Senior

Greek Life: Greek life is not very large on campus, and has little effect on the social scene.

4 College Senior

Athletics: Athletics are not the biggest part about this school, but there is a large focus on hockey, and when other sports do well there is a good amount of support for them. Athletic facilities for non-varsity members are very good and updated. The fit recreational facilities have recently been renovated too to allow the best for the students.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: I transferred to this school in my sophomore year and it's the best decision I made for myself. There are plenty of opportunities for students to succeed, and despite the grade deflation, professors are very smart and really care about students learning.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: There are vicious weed-out courses that are not fair and kill your GPAs, but in general things are good.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Tuition is too high, but there job prospects, alumni, and career services are good.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I feel relatively safe, but things still happen and it's important to be cautious.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Kilachand Hall is a great dorm.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Sororities are not allowed to have housing. It's not a huge scene but it is visible.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: It's a great, very diverse school with so many exciting opportunities and resources. It is however very challenging and competitive.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: Class sizes are BIG. Especially if you're on a pre-professional track. However, professors are almost always available during office hours or via email.

Overall Experience: As a science student, research has been difficult to come by. While there are opportunities out there, they are difficult to secure considering science students already have difficult, demanding and full schedules.

While BU certainly has its downfalls, most of which are due to the sheer size of the University, there are plenty of opportunities to take full advantage of all that it has to offer. For the resourceful and motivated, a little effort will go a long way. The most important thing is to utilize your professors to your advantage. It is their job to be available to their students, and while some are certainly more attentive than others, students are not turned away by a professor when they have gone looking for opportunities or support.

Keeping busy, being well-organized, and choosing a course of study that truly stimulates your intellectual interests will all be really helpful in having a successful experience at BU. Many students dread graduation day, and therefore, leaving Boston is not something they look forward to. On the flip-side, countless others would argue the opposite perspective. Accept your environment and work with it, as well as against it. Do not stay inside for too long, and do not drink away your college years. Make school a priority, and hang out with your professors (they are the best resource you have). Boston is a huge city with a really large population of young people. If you are looking for a taste of city life, and think that you would be able to establish yourself at a big university in a high-paced atmosphere, it is definitely possible to find your niche here.
