Off-Campus Dining: Live in city so theres always something

Administration: They tag your attendance, they will call the police if you arrive to your dorm drunk, and some RAs are out to get you

Majors: Everyone here is either in a ridiculously stupid major like hospitality or crying over their sucky engineering grades

2 College Freshman

Technology: Wifi will suddenly die on you even if you're just in your dorm. SUCKY!

Diversity: Just a lot of Asians mostly. They stay to themselves and don't like speaking english, which I understand

Campus Housing: Dorms are better than state schools but compared to the really nice private schools, they're absolute s***.

Transportation: BU BUS is the worst thing in the world. Rarely operates on schedule and they usually have only 2-3 buses running midday. I've seen all of the buses at the same area too.

2 College Freshman

Drug Safety: A lot of deadbeats who go to BU just light it up on the weekend. It's annoying that this happens every weekday

2 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: A lot of international/ethnic food is served in this area. Especially chinese and indian

3 College Freshman

Academics: HUGE grade deflation problem. Even if you have a perfect SAT and were a 4.0 student in high school, you'll probably end up with a 3.3 at BU

4 College Freshman

Academics: Good selection, but many majors are extremely broad

2 College Freshman

Weather: The cold will often hurt your face

Campus Housing: Living on campus is a great experience. The dorms are all relatively fine to live in. BU prides itself on the cleanliness of its dorms and it shows. The proximity to classes is great, and the housing process is easy and relatively fair to each student.

Guys & Girls: The students are extremely diverse. To describe the guys and girls in general would be too difficult. Because of each person or group's uniqueness, it makes everyone more interesting once you do meet them.

Majors: My program is quite difficult, but it covers all areas of science that interest me. Most majors allow students to explore other subjects and not simply focus on one subject for their major. If I could do it all over again, I would definitely choose it again. I plan on attending medical or grad school. I have no concerns about finding a job in my field since my degree is so diverse.

Majors: My degree requires a lot of effort to remain in. It can be difficult, but it is worthwhile. For admission into the program, my science GPA was considered as well as my standardized tests. My program does not have an abnormal application process, it does however, involve more scrutiny.

Academics: The academics offered are one of the best. There are many different classes people can take and many opportunities to either study abroad or minor or double major.

Local Area: Living in Boston and going to school has a great atmosphere in general.

While BU certainly has its downfalls, most of which are due to the sheer size of the University, there are plenty of opportunities to take full advantage of all that it has to offer. For the resourceful and motivated, a little effort will go a long way. The most important thing is to utilize your professors to your advantage. It is their job to be available to their students, and while some are certainly more attentive than others, students are not turned away by a professor when they have gone looking for opportunities or support.

Keeping busy, being well-organized, and choosing a course of study that truly stimulates your intellectual interests will all be really helpful in having a successful experience at BU. Many students dread graduation day, and therefore, leaving Boston is not something they look forward to. On the flip-side, countless others would argue the opposite perspective. Accept your environment and work with it, as well as against it. Do not stay inside for too long, and do not drink away your college years. Make school a priority, and hang out with your professors (they are the best resource you have). Boston is a huge city with a really large population of young people. If you are looking for a taste of city life, and think that you would be able to establish yourself at a big university in a high-paced atmosphere, it is definitely possible to find your niche here.
