Overall Experience: I love my classes and professors. It's a tough school to get A's and A+'s

most of my classes are small, lectures are larger, there's a lot of amazing classes offered at BU.

I feel I'm getting a superior education.

Local Area: Boston is an incredible city. It's rich in history and universities. It's a fun and safe city. I love all of the opportunities that can be found here. There are many sporting events, and forms of entertainment. There's a lot of shopping too, but I'm too busy with my studies to spend time shopping and my funds are limited.

4 College Freshman

Majors: I chose both a major and minor. Some majors require auditions which can be tricky... sometimes you need a back up choice but you can always add a minor or change your major later on.

Health & Safety: It's important not to put yourself in unsafe situations. For example, I never walk alone at night. I feel that BU is extremely safe and administrators make sure that we have the necessary resources to be safe on campus all the time.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: I'm not in a sorority but I have friends that are very involved. I'm not pressured to join. It's not my thing but I'm not excluded at all. Greek life is great for some people but not others. Everyone here has the freedom to do their own thing. It's a very social campus with many opportunities within the Greek life.... or there are many other choices for socializing.

Off-Campus Housing: Boston University is a school situated in a city. There is ample off campus and on campus housing. Off campus housing is just as convenient and sometimes less in price. Apartments in Boston are much more roomier than dorms. Parking is always an issue in Boston whether you live on or off campus. Public transportation in Boston is easy to use and relatively inexpensive. The city of Boston is extremely safe so off campus housing is not a problem when it comes to safety. Whether on or off campus, there's a lot of good choices at Boston University.

Off-Campus Housing: BU won't help since that means you're not paying for their housing, but cheaper options are available compared to dorms

While BU certainly has its downfalls, most of which are due to the sheer size of the University, there are plenty of opportunities to take full advantage of all that it has to offer. For the resourceful and motivated, a little effort will go a long way. The most important thing is to utilize your professors to your advantage. It is their job to be available to their students, and while some are certainly more attentive than others, students are not turned away by a professor when they have gone looking for opportunities or support.

Keeping busy, being well-organized, and choosing a course of study that truly stimulates your intellectual interests will all be really helpful in having a successful experience at BU. Many students dread graduation day, and therefore, leaving Boston is not something they look forward to. On the flip-side, countless others would argue the opposite perspective. Accept your environment and work with it, as well as against it. Do not stay inside for too long, and do not drink away your college years. Make school a priority, and hang out with your professors (they are the best resource you have). Boston is a huge city with a really large population of young people. If you are looking for a taste of city life, and think that you would be able to establish yourself at a big university in a high-paced atmosphere, it is definitely possible to find your niche here.
