4 College Freshman

Party Scene: It's hard finding a fun party scene early on, especially if you are a freshman. Join some clubs, meet some upperclassmen and I guarantee you will have a great time. If you want to crash some random party, go to a mod. Note: there's a ratio and girls are more likely to gain entrance than guys. Mods can grow old so afterwards, you'll find yourself going off-campus or to other upperclassmen dorms.

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: Mods get really hot, off-campus gets really cramped, and if you live off campus or on Newton you really don't have options. Still fun.

3 College Senior

Party Scene: Parties are generally hot and too crowded and the bars are overpriced, but everyone is usually having too much fun too notice (also techno music is way too prevalent, but that's more of a personal thing)

4 College Sophomore

Party Scene: Party scene is average here. No frats in BC so I wouldn't know what that would be like.

4 College Sophomore

Party Scene: The party scene is what you make it. Since there is no greek life on campus, it's really about who you know.

Freshmen and sophomores can have a hard time finding quality parties at BC. The BCPD cracks down pretty hard on underage drinking, so dorm parties don’t really happen. Once you’re 21, though, a new world can open up to you. Mary Ann’s is the local watering hole where everyone goes for a beer, and CitySide and Roggie’s come up as close contenders. Harvard Avenue is only a $10 cab ride or a cheap T ride away and boasts six or seven mediocre to fairly great bars for the average Joe.

Big spenders can hit up downtown, where a cab can cost you anywhere between 20 and 30 bucks. Definitely fill up the cab with all of your pals, so you can split the costs. Fanieul Hall has literally hundreds of great spots, but you probably won’t run into anyone you know other than the people you came with—which can be refreshing some nights! No matter what you are looking to do, you’ll be able to find it somewhere.

Mary Ann's

Mary Ann's is a college dive in the best sense of the word. All of the finances not wasted on decor or keeping the place clean are instead funneled into keeping the beer cheap, making Mary Ann's not only the most popular BC hangout, but also the cheapest place around to get a drink.

1937 Beacon St.

Boston

T's Pub

T's is more of a Boston University hangout than a BC one, which makes sense, given that it's dead in the middle of BU's west campus. It's a typical college bar; it's crowded, inexpensive, and offers a decent beer selection.

973 Commonwealth Ave.

Boston

Wonderbar

Wonderbar is a trendy, upscale lounge and restaurant. It's certainly more expensive than a lot of other local bars, but it's a nice change of scenery from the more college-oriented establishments.

186 Harvard Ave.

Allston

(617) 351-COOL

Joshua Tree

This American restaurant/sports bar is a popular place for BC students to gather in the evenings. Whether you want to watch the big game with your friends, have some drinks, or dance the night away, Joshua Tree is the place for you. There is also pool and darts.

The Avenue Bar & Grill

The Avenue is a bar and restaurant; it's not too trendy and upscale, but the food, though good, can get expensive. The beer selection is considerable, with a few imports and microbews you're not likely to find elsewhere.

1249 Commonwealth Ave.

Allston

(617) 782-9508

Big City

Big City is a bar and pool hall decked out to resemble a 1950s police station. The bar offers a very respectable beer selection, and pool is free from 6 p.m.-8 p.m.

138 Brighton Ave.

Allston

(617) 728-2020

Great Scott's

A popular college bar, Great Scott's has a dance floor, though dancing isn't as much the focus here as it is at some of Boston's clubs. Wednesday nights, which are ladies' nights, are big at Scott's.

Go to the 18+ clubs or check out the Mods-you can usually just walk into a party. There are always a lot of off campus parties if you know where to look.
