Overall Experience: I would definitely pick Biola again if I had the chance. I have had such a great experience with the community, especially dorm life, intramurals, and just exploring Southern California.

Transportation: Catching Rides – Usually students just catch rides from their friends.

Parking: The parking permits are a little pricey. Once the parking structure is built, there should be enough parking, but spots are a pretty limited currently.

Administration: Dancing, Drinking – At Biola, we have a policy that you can't drink, even if you are over 21, and you cannot do drugs obviously. Biola also has a policy that states you are not allowed to have organized dance events on campus, and Biola will never host a dance of any kind. This is a policy that they are looking to change and probably will over the next couple of years.Doesn't affect life too much!

Drug Safety: Biola is a dry campus and doesn't allow drugs to be used either. That doesn't mean that students aren't going to find a way to do it though. The majority of the students follow Biola's policy, but for the few who don't, they usually just get a slap on the wrist unless it was a really bad incident or if they are repeating offenders. They try to extend a lot of grace.

Technology: The wireless internet is not always reliable, but when it does go down it doesn't stay down for very long. I have never personally printed anything, but those who do, never have a problem with it.Internet speed could definitely be faster, but it is fine.

Party Scene: For the most part, students stay up socializing until early hours of the morning. The vast majority of the school stays away from the bar/club scene and underage nightlife is extremely rare. If it is present, it's not talked about or the norm at all. People prefer to hang out in the dorms watching movies or playing pool, or in the campus buildings playing games, talking, or eating.

Guys & Girls: Guys and Girls – Freshmen begin with the transition from the high school mindset to the college mentality. It takes time, patience, challenges and growth. We are all learning from each other, discovering what kind of things we are into, music we like, what career we'll have and who will be there until the end. People are genuine here and it is truly a wonderful community on campus. People are consistently amiable and enthusiastic about the school.

Campus Quality: The community at Biola is outstanding. Between dorm life, clubs, ministries, even on-campus job opportunities, most everyone is warm and possess real depth. This makes the sting of loneliness in college much softer, and provides a solid support system for every occasion.

Administration: This Is a Christian School. Biola is a dry campus, but if your coming here that shouldn't be an issue for you anyways. I guess other schools would call us strict but no one here cares because they plan on following the rules. It may be a Christian campus' level of strictness, but Biola has a genuine Christian community that has never been a problem for anyone I know.

Athletics: This Is Not an Athletic School – If you do sports for fun, but really care about your education then Biola's great. But sporting events are not commonly attended and there is no football team. Don't come for sports.

Local Area: 30 Minutes to Disney Land, Los Angeles, the Beach, and the Getty Museum – La Mirada is quaint little suburb that doesn't offer much, but we are 30 minutes to Disney Land, Los Angeles, the beach, and the Getty museum. And that makes all the difference.

Overall Experience: Love This School! Biola is a school that has a premiere education with a personal touch. As catch-phrasy as that sounds, it is true. The professors are top-notch and really care about their students on a personal level, the classes are hard but they cater to many learning styles, and we have a great support system under us.
The community here is phenomenal. We are super close-knit, and yet it is big enough that you're still meeting people all the time. We have tons of school spirit in terms of our community; all the most fun things happen in the dorms.
If I had to go through the decision making process all over again, I would definitely choose Biola. Though there are many hurdles you have to jump through financially, I really feel as though I'm being accurately equipped for life and that is worth the sacrifice to me!

Weather: The weather here is sunny almost all of the time. It only gets extremely hot for maybe two weeks out of the year, and probably rains a total of 10 days during the school year. I love the weather here and it affects everything else positively.

Health & Safety: Very Safe – I've never felt unsafe on campus. We have a campus safety that is very proactive and patrols campus 24/7. Campus safety also has a text messaging system that sends the student body a texts whenever there are safety precautions needing to be taken on campus. Our city is also rated by the FBI as one of the top 25 safest cities of its size.

Campus Food: Not Mom's Cooking, but the Closest You're Gonna Get. There is one main cafeteria that serves the whole campus with 6+ stations with different varieties of food. You can also grab food in the two coffee shops on campus or the snackbar-ish Eagles Nest.

Drug Safety: There Is No Visible Drug Scene – Per contract, students are not allowed to drink or do drugs either on campus or off and this rule, though kind of "on-our-honor", is kept pretty well. I have not been a part of, nor seen, this rule being broken myself.

Campus Quality: Weathered With Personality – The campus is halfway built from brick alone which can either be good or bad. There are old buildings with some charm, but there is also the newest and cleanest too. The track and field are top of the line and the weight room is decent. The equipment isn't new, but sufficient. The Cafeteria gets old, but go to a state school and you will quickly realize the food here isn't half bad.

Guys & Girls: Students Are Like Family to Each Other – The students at Biola are all required to be professing Christians and because of this we view each other as family. On the whole, the students are extremely welcoming and kind, whether you are a prospective student or new to a class or just moving to a new floor in the dorms. The student body is pretty diverse in interests and dress, there is no one style that dominates. And, in the dorms especially, there are always activities to be a part of. Dorm room doors on the floors are typically always open and students just hop form room to room after classes to hang out and do homework or take study breaks.

Off-Campus Housing: Housing Varies – Apartments around campus are abundant. The prices vary, but for the most part they are affordable and the general area around Biola is nice and quiet and safe. Biola students have a good reputation with many apartment managers around the area, and have been known to have been given preference for openings. As for houses, renting a house is a little harder to do. Many house owners do not want big groups of students renting, but smaller groups are fine. Biola has a classifieds website where people post housing needs or openings or look for roommates, and there is always a lot to look through on there. On the whole, housing around Biola is reasonably priced and fairly easy to find.

Campus Housing: Housing Process is terrible, but dorm life is great!

Academics: Psychology is challenging, but very worthwhile. It is heavily clinically-based because of Rosemead Graduate School, so unfortunately some of the other emphases of psychology are not very good.

Parking: Difficult to Find an Empty Spot – It's really hard to find a parking spot; sometimes I circle the parking lot(s) for a long time.

Diversity: Equal Percentage – There are people from all ethnic backgrounds, it's equal. That's what i like about this school.

Biola boasts an amazing Christian fellowship that's focused on delivering the Gospel, not only to its students, but to the world surrounding it. In taking classes and attending lectures, students feel much more apt to take on the world, not only with renewed and strengthened faith, but also with a professional education.

Biola can be an adjustment. But once you get involved with on-campus jobs and school events, it becomes much easier. After spending time with the students and faculty, you'll come to realize that you'll never find a school quite like this. But it takes a little bit of work at first. Biola's teaching is amazing, and the community is unparalleled. Nowhere else on Earth can students strike up random conversations with anyone and be able to "Facebook-friend" them and ask them to coffee the very next day. If you value your education and want to surround yourself with God-fearing students serving each other and the Lord, then Biola is the place for you!
