Drug Safety: At Biola we are not allowed to drink or smoke. It rarely happens and when it does, action from administration is taken.

Academics: Intercultural Studies – I love my major, it allows me to learn more and more about how to effective interact with people around the world. My major also requires that I go on a 6-8 week cross-cultural internship, I am currently in Ireland while others are all across the world. It is amazing to know the people from Biola are sharing God's love all around the world! I really love the professors as well, they all care about you personally and want to invest in your life.

Scholarships: a little more guidance would be appreciated but overall the financial aid offices are adequate

Transportation: Walking Works – other than the we cars, which are kind of pricey, walking is pretty much the best option if you don't have a car

3 College Sophomore

Parking: the parking can be very hot or miss. One can leave a spot to return a while later and find nothing available. Also the lots fill up rather quickly.

Technology: Every so often the internet it slow, but overall it is very fast. One night it totally shut down from early evening till the next morning which was a huge inconvenience. The tech department is very helpful.

Athletics: Sports Don't Matter – At Biola University, sports are not a big deal. Especially Women's sports but that's everywhere. There is no football team. No one supports track, swim, cross country, tennis or sofball. Men's basketball has the most student involvement, next comes Men's soccer.

1 College Senior

Greek Life: I don't even think there is this at all on Biola's campus.

Campus Quality: Biola has a beautiful campus, there is construction going on which will make it more astonishing. There aren't that many big classrooms but that isn't needed because there aren't that many students. There are only two good dorms that everyone wants to live in, the others are old. The school is also admitting more students which is crowding the dorms since freshmen have to live on campus unless they commute. The gymasium is a good size and the soccer field is nice but plain. The cafeteria is nice but it can get very crowded at times.

Athletics: Some People Care Other's Don't – Some people at Biola care greatly about the school's teams and I've heard they do very well, but a large portion of the students at Biola don't have much interest in following them. They seem to be about average.

Off-Campus Housing: Great If You Can Find Enough People to Split It With. I know some people who live off campus but it's way to expensive unless you can get about 5+ roommates it seems.

Campus Quality: Everyone Is Friendly...And I Mean Everyone – No matter who you meet, there almost always going to be friendly. Even the people that seem like douche bags are nice. Cause we got all of our eyes focused on Christ. Ya'llllll HUUUUrrd!?!?!

Diversity: Lots of White Upper Class Students – There is a very large amount of white people, but everyone's kind and welcoming.

Health & Safety: I Feel Very Safe on Campus. There's not much campus crime, but it seems that the security team would be very responsive in the event of an emergency.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Quality People – The people are kind and compassionate, contributing to a very open and genuine atmosphere. In everything, Christ is shown.

Local Area: La Mirada is a very quiet and small city. The residents respect and appreciate Biola students for their contributions to the community. It is about 25 minutes away from downtown LA if you want to go explore, but other than that, the main attraction is the Dollar Theater, on campus events, and Albertsons. Your social life happens in the caf.

Party Scene: One or the Other – At Biola, if you party you party, if you don't you don't. So don't be surprised if you see all the same faces at every party.
When we dance it's always off campus, due to the rules. We keep it relatively tame, but nonetheless if you're not into the party scene and club dancing, don't bother.
That said, the majority of Biola students don't club or party. Not that we don't have fun - when you don't have alcohol and dancing to fall back on, you find that you can come up with some awesome ways to spend a Friday night.
Also, Biola is great about organizing events for students to have fun during down time. Concerts, poetry lounges, laser tag, ice skating, a giant dodge-ball competition - you name it. That's something that most schools don't bother with, and their students are really missing out.

Guys & Girls: Biola students are diverse, but not SO diverse that they have nothing in common. Students are almost always VERY friendly, but may not necessarily be outgoing. Students tend to dress preppy, indie, athletic or super hip. The two things that stands out about Biola students in how they dress are: 1) We're very modest, compared to most schools. You won't see very many girls in super short shorts or low-cut tops. 2) We tend not to attend class (or leave the building at all) in our pajamas. Personally, I wish this were different - I don't usually feel like getting dressed before an early class and would rather look like I just rolled out of bed. But then again, Biola students put a lot of effort into everything they do, so this is not surprising.

Campus Housing: Dorm Life - Horton – I have only lived in a Horton triple both years I have been at Biola and my experience has been fantastic. Horton smells new and clean compared to other dorms, and it has a very social atmosphere. It is not super convenient having a community bathroom, but I got used to it quickly and did not mind it. The housing process can be very stressful since housing is becoming increasingly limited.

Party Scene: One thing I love about Biola is the fact that the party scene is not prevalent on campus. That being said, parties do exist, and if you go looking for them, you can find the pockets of people who do enjoy having parties and participating in the bar/club scene. Biola has community standards that include no drinking or smoking. With those standards comes the majority of students who are willing to follow them as they did choose to attend Biola.

Academics: Human Biology – The professors are fantastic in my particular area of study, Human Biology. TA's are more than helpful and they give plenty attention to students. Professors and TA's are very available for help almost any time. However, the workload is a lot, especially if you are involved in any extracurricular commitments such as sports. I am on a sports team that travels quite a bit, and sometimes there are assignments in labs that are impossible to make up so my grades suffer. The registration process has been very frustrating for me until I attained senior status in credits. Have patience and have several options that you are willing to consider when registering for classes.

Campus Housing: When I think of Biola's campus I think of the word community. I had the privilege of being a Resident Assistant last year, so I was able to really get a handle on all that Biola does to ensure that students here have a meaningful experience outside of the classroom. The Residence Life staff recognizes the amount of learning that takes place in the dorms, and they take their role as community builders ver seriously, hoping to ensure every student with an awesome on-campus experience.

Academics: There's No Place Like It – The school is in a wonderful suburban location, with plenty to do nearby and in LA, which is a reasonable drive from campus.
Our campus facilities are developed, but many are currently being renovated and new structures are being built to accommodate the school in this season of further growth. You don't have to worry about living in a run-down dorm either, as is the case with some comparable schools. Like I said, everything is being updated.
We have wonderful professors as well! Some require more of you than others, but it tends to be the case that the more the professor requires/expects of you, the more you're going to end the semester feeling like you've really gained something valuable.
You're going to be challenged to learn and grow academically, personally, spiritually, and relationally at Biola.

Academics: When I think of the academics offered here at Biola I automatically think of the Professors who make the classes here possible. I have not come into contact with a Professor who isn't concerned about the welfare of their students. With this type of care at the center of their teaching standards, I look forward to meeting my new professors each semester and getting to know them in the ways that I can. It makes caring for academics a lot easier when you known your professors are rooting for you.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Business Major – It really teaches the basic understanding of how a business starts and teaches the economy of the society.

Biola boasts an amazing Christian fellowship that's focused on delivering the Gospel, not only to its students, but to the world surrounding it. In taking classes and attending lectures, students feel much more apt to take on the world, not only with renewed and strengthened faith, but also with a professional education.

Biola can be an adjustment. But once you get involved with on-campus jobs and school events, it becomes much easier. After spending time with the students and faculty, you'll come to realize that you'll never find a school quite like this. But it takes a little bit of work at first. Biola's teaching is amazing, and the community is unparalleled. Nowhere else on Earth can students strike up random conversations with anyone and be able to "Facebook-friend" them and ask them to coffee the very next day. If you value your education and want to surround yourself with God-fearing students serving each other and the Lord, then Biola is the place for you!
