Administration: High Community Standards – Every incoming student has to sign a contract agreeing to follow the community standards. Biola students agree to refrain from alcohol during the semester, and no drugs are allowed on campus. And, there are no school dances. The community standards, however, provide a safer community for students.

Athletics: Great but Not Priority – Academics and spiritual life are the top priorities at Biola, and the sports community is small. But, our men's soccer team won the GSAC championship this year and both of our cross country teams raced in the NAIA championships. Our sports teams do well, but they aren't the very best.

Off-Campus Housing: Plenty of Options – Biola has three off-campus apartment complexes and three on-campus apartment-like options. I haven't lived in them, but friends who have, love it! They're close enough to campus for students to walk or ride a bike to and from. The cost isn't too different from on-campus options.

Athletics: Great Spirit – our athletic teams are great and students are always encouraged to come out to the games. The soccer team is going to nationals and the students love watching the games.

4 College Freshman

Campus Quality: Beautiful Campus – the campus has a nice charm and is beautiful. there is nice landscape and the facilities are clean and great. The athletic center is top notch and the athletic field is turf. the library is giant and beautiful with a bunch of books on biblical studies.

Campus Housing: Anything at Biola - especially dorm-life - is very Christ-centered. Hope and Horton are the newest (and most preferred) dorms on campus. You won't find partying unless you are really looking for it, and even then, it won't be on Biola's campus. Expect to see people out late at night talking religion/philosophy or just goofing off. La Mirada is a really sleepy town, so there's not a whole lot to do after 10 pm unless you organize something yourself. It helps to have a car on campus.

5 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: No Drugs or Alcohol – Drugs and alcohol are not allowed on campus, nor are student allowed to drink or get high. Some students will try to do it, when people get caught they first go through counseling and then if they continue to use drugs and alcohol then they get kicked out of school.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: Pretty Good – The Cafe has pretty good food, its nice having a salad and sandwich bar if nothing their making sounds good. Its also buffet style so if you get something and don't like it you can just go get something else. There also are 2 coffee shops and one other food place on campus that you can use your money to get food or drinks at. They are pretty good also.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Food Off Campus – There are a lot of options and there are a lot of thing in the area of the school

5 College Sophomore

Technology: All the Computer labs have Mac for the art student and only art student can get to them

5 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: I Love on-Campus Life! I live inn a great dorm with great people and great faculty. I have no complaints about campus life.

5 College Sophomore

Technology: Great Quality, Some of the Best Out There – High end, Mac desktop computers in several computer labs and classrooms.

5 College Freshman

Administration: Rules Are Upheld – the school is very strict but its something that benefits us all. a person may be expelled if found with drugs or alcohol.

5 College Freshman

Party Scene: No Clubs – there are no clubs to go partying to but there are worship nights where many people come together at night to praise

4 College Freshman

Academics: Rosemead School of Psychology – i applied only to biola because i felt it was the only school that had a program that i liked. my professors are great and fun. i do have alot of work but they are willing to help

Campus Quality: Christian School – Primarily my school is a Christian University and we are a school of professing Christians. We heavily engage in the community and the community is always invited to the many school events we offer. There is always something to do from laser tag in the gym, to going to the beach, to Singspiration on Sunday nights. Everyone graduates with a minor in Bible. Also, we have many majors which also vary in emphasis.

2 College Freshman

Parking: Ridiculous During School Hours – The permit cost is not expensive compared to other schools for example Cal State University Fullerton. Theirs is around $300 or so a semester and Biola's is, I believe $125. It is so difficult trying to find parking it once took my friend almost an hour to find a spot.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: More Whites Than Other Kinds – When I first entered Biola I was a bit overwhelmed by the Caucasian race. There were so many compared to blacks and hispanics. However, I learned to look past it.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: The Earlier the Better. I would of love to start my process earlier but couldnt until early july which didnt allow enough time to get classes or hear even my financial aid.

2 College Freshman

Transportation: Its Expensive and Needs Work. Its way too expensive. I would love to see them lower the enrollment and make the cost of school cheaper but what you going to do.

5 College Freshman

Technology: Wireless and Beyond – The computer aspects of biola are top notch. There is some walking distance and not everything is close by but all accessible and awesome!

4 College Junior

Academics: psychology program is very unique at biola. It integrates both psychological and theological perspectives. All of my professors are well trained in their own interested fields of psychology.

3 College Junior

Local Area: It is safe in LaMirada, and there are many shopping malls in this area.

4 College Freshman

Local Area: Biola University, located in the beautiful city of La Mirada, is surrounded by SPLASH, a city funded water park, Creek park, and the dollar theatre. Biola's students are extremely spirited, especially during basketball games against Azusa Pacific University, our rivals. Biola University offers a good balance between the spiritual and the academic.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: Film Major Requires a Bit More – The process of getting into the Cinema and Media Arts major requires a portfolio of a short response saying what you want to accomplish and why you love film, so make sure to express yourself and brag a little. They want the best, so give one quality video of your work and recommendations. If you are not fully experienced, that is fine, just put your best in...they only reject students who do not put in an effort. Also join the film programs on campus and stay in contact with the department!

Biola boasts an amazing Christian fellowship that's focused on delivering the Gospel, not only to its students, but to the world surrounding it. In taking classes and attending lectures, students feel much more apt to take on the world, not only with renewed and strengthened faith, but also with a professional education.

Biola can be an adjustment. But once you get involved with on-campus jobs and school events, it becomes much easier. After spending time with the students and faculty, you'll come to realize that you'll never find a school quite like this. But it takes a little bit of work at first. Biola's teaching is amazing, and the community is unparalleled. Nowhere else on Earth can students strike up random conversations with anyone and be able to "Facebook-friend" them and ask them to coffee the very next day. If you value your education and want to surround yourself with God-fearing students serving each other and the Lord, then Biola is the place for you!
