Scholarships: Biola University offers a variety of scholarships that can range from what major you have chosen to what church you are a member of. The only negative is the process of finding them on the school's financial aid site can be a bit of a headache.

Campus Housing: Hope Dorm – The dorm known as Hope at Biola University offers a great social atmosphere which is co-ed. There's a kitchen, a 2nd floor lobby with a hd television and comfortable furniture. A 4th floor lobby with great furniture, a microwave, and a sitting area outside which also has a view of the fireworks at disneyland at night. The first floor lobby is very big with areas just to sit down, do homework, play fusball and pool. The only downs of Hope are how the laundry room can stink and sometimes the need for many repairs around the doorm. Other than this, Hope is a great dorm to live in for your college experience at Biola University.

Academics: Challenging, but Rewarding – I'm a nursing major at Biola University. There is a lot of pressure on nursing majors because it is such a competitive major. The science classes are academically rigorous, but the teachers want to see their students succeed and will do what they can to help.

Transportation: Have Your Own Car or Friends With Cars – Not too much public transportation. The school own a few cars people can rent out, but other than that you just ask friends.

Drug Safety: Not Big – I'm sure there's been people who do drugs here, but its really not very common.

Overall Experience: Biola is the best school ever! The people are so nice, and the professors actually pay attention to you. The campus is amazing and the dorm life is pretty sweet, too. Chapels are so awesome, as well!

Weather: Southern California has perfect weather. It gets pretty hot in August, but the rest of the time I couldn't ask for nicer weather. It makes things nice for studying outside!

Campus Food: Campus dining are what one would expect from a university: diverse food in a central location. There is certainly nothing wrong with it but there is nothing exceptional about it either. My opinion is neutral regarding this aspect of Biola.

Campus Quality: Wonderful Facilites – It is obvious when one first steps on campus that Biola is very concerned about the aesthetics of their campus and facilities. Many options for recreation are available as well as resources to aid in academic work.

Off-Campus Housing: Biola University resides in Los Angeles and naturally has extremely expensive off-campus options. The freedom and experience of living off campus in such an exciting city is only worth it if one has the expenses. The primary reason for attending the school, in my opinion, is the education. Therefore, if education finances are in any way compromised by living off-campus, one should live on-campus.

Off-Campus Dining: Ethnic Center – We live close to LA, every ethnic food is available.

Technology: Printing is expensive but accessible, the network is not always reliable, but works most of the time. Wireless is good in most places but is either slow or nonexistent in older buildings. There is always a computer open either in the library or lab for those who need it.

Local Area: Campus Life/Activities – Living on a small Pacific island like Guam allows its people to be receptive and close knit. This type of environment is similar to campus life in Biola University. The students are friendly, supportive of each other, and exudes a cohesive energy that is always present in all educational and athletic activities.

Academics: More than anything I've been surprised by Biola's students and their passion for learning--they want to be here (mostly) and are committed not only to their own personal education but the education of each other--how can we do a good job together? Furthermore, the faculty tend to emphasize integration. How does my spanish class relate to my chemistry class, or my major, or what's going on the world, or what I'm hearing in chapel, and church. How can we connect heart, head, and hands to make whole people who can build a strong community?

Health & Safety: Safety Is Stalking Me – Biola has its own unique safety bubble. Leave your wallet or your backpack on a table and come back later. It will be there. Leave your phone in the cafeteria after it closes? Campus Safety will have it. It's so safe it's eerie. The only time I'm afraid is when I'm afraid of safety itself.

Overall Experience: Closest Thing to Heaven – I've been in many different Christian communities, but none has compared with my experience of Biola University. This place has THRIVING community, where you can form deep, lifetime friends who help you grow exponentially, in mind, character and spiritual devotion. I've developed brothers in those I've lived with in Emerson Hall and from my classes in the Torrey Honors Institute. My professors care about me learning well and help me to be educated in what I'm interested in as well as what prepares me for excellence in the academic and professional world. I'm willing to argue with anyone that I've had the best possible college experience, because mine has been everything I could imagine it to be, and with Los Angeles down the road, I even have a place to get out and explore and in which to minister. Biola has a hundred-year history of Christ-centered excellence, and they are not changing anything about their commitments to both. This university is a global center for Christian thought and training, and it does not neglect one's spiritual and emotional growth while forming one academically.

Drug Safety: Virtually Nonexistent – Some students go off campus individually or in small cliques to smoke/drink, but most students are not involved in any of these activities, as they are against the rules and not best for us. Students engaged in these activities usually come to Biola with a background in struggling with drugs/alcohol, and will have to deal with the problems at some point in their Biola career when they are caught. When caught rule-breaking, the student development staff undergoes a loving process in redemptive-approach discipline to seek the best option for the student's growth--suspension, counseling, etc.

Party Scene: Incredible Fun Without the Alcohol – At Biola, you don't have to worry about your friends getting hammered at parties. We do soda and chips, and have a great time being with friends without worrying about getting wasted. We actually remember what we do on Friday nights, and have great times exploring the Los Angeles area together at restaurants, parks, beaches, art galleries, the mountains, or just a friend's apartment for a movie. Much more fun than just a bar or club!

Weather: LA Weathr – It rarely rains, never snows, is mostly sunny and stays about the same temperature of about 75

Campus Housing: Lower Campus Is Awesome – Some dorms are in definite need of renovation, but the community on lower campus is awesome. The newest dorms are very nice. There could be more rooms to facilitate more students who want to live on campus.

Campus Quality: The Library Is Great – The library at Bola is awesome with plenty of computers and many different source. The link+ system where you can borrow books from other universities helps, as well. It could have more group study rooms and better internet connectivity, however.

Campus Quality: Torrey Honors. Best. Education. Available. Anywhere. Dude. Classical education. Read books. Talk about them. Have your own mentor. Take care of all your gen ed. Hang out with awesome people. Seriously, the amount of attention that you get from the faculty and the comprehensiveness of your education can't be beat by anything else in the undergrad scene. Even in the Ivy League.

Administration: They're Strict, and Not Much Happens. Apparently people think of that as a bad thing. But it's really a very open and positive atmosphere.

Biola boasts an amazing Christian fellowship that's focused on delivering the Gospel, not only to its students, but to the world surrounding it. In taking classes and attending lectures, students feel much more apt to take on the world, not only with renewed and strengthened faith, but also with a professional education.

Biola can be an adjustment. But once you get involved with on-campus jobs and school events, it becomes much easier. After spending time with the students and faculty, you'll come to realize that you'll never find a school quite like this. But it takes a little bit of work at first. Biola's teaching is amazing, and the community is unparalleled. Nowhere else on Earth can students strike up random conversations with anyone and be able to "Facebook-friend" them and ask them to coffee the very next day. If you value your education and want to surround yourself with God-fearing students serving each other and the Lord, then Biola is the place for you!
