Scholarships: Busting That Cash – Everyone knows that Biola is EXPENSIVE!

However,I was able to attend thanks to CalGrants, Pell Grants, and money from the school itself for being a returning student. The rest was paid from my parents pocket who SAVED A LOT during the past YEARS. Amen to that.

Campus Quality: One Word- GOD! Biola is different because it is a private Christian university focused on preparing their students to be ready to impact the world for Jesus Christ later on in their lives/careers!

Campus Food: From a Commuter Student/ Worker at the Cafeteria, the Food Is Done That Day and Very Tasty. You Get to Choose from Six Stations That Range from Salads, Pizza, Homecooking Food, Pastas, Etc. Everything Is Fresh and Organic. However, if you constantly eat there you will see that they have the same foods every other 2 weeks. There is a bulletin where you can comment on the food or suggest an entree. Breakfast is pretty much repetitive-eggs, potatoes, and some choice of meat. It will get annoying. Also, if you plan on working for the cafe there is no need to buy a huge meal plan. This is because everytime you work you get one free meal. Also, you will notice that all the cooks are hispanic/latino so that means they are big on what people stereotype "Mexican food."

But something every faculty member or tranfser student has commented is that the Biola cafeteria's food is top quality and should not be called a "cafeteria." They dont mircowave food like other typical school cafeteria.

Also, coming from a worker's perspective, be NICE and FRIENDLY to the workers who work hard to keep your cafe looking clean and beautiful. Some people work long hours in there and dont want to serve rude students that cant even say please or thank you. Also, workers like me witness the digusting mess people leave behind so be an ADULT and pick up after yourself. I always think students like me look down upon a cafeteria server's job like it was the lowest of the lowest, which is an honrable job!

In summary, Bon Appetit (Biola's cafetria is run by this company) do their best to serve Biola students need in terms of food.

Campus Quality: All the facilities at Biola are top notch. Wonderful aesthetics and atmosphere. The campus oozes the passion and love that the student body and faculty have for God.

Technology: Network Reliability and Speed – The on campus reliability and speed had greatly improved but it is still lacking. Wireless internet is slow and will sometimes go out.

Campus Housing: There are many Dorm Halls at Biola. As well as off campus apartments and marriage housing. The Dorm Life at Biola is AMAZING and a once in a lifetime oppertunity. The community life at Biola is what makes Biola so unique and amazing. There are many events that include the Dorm Halls and individual Floors. For example: GUYRAD- get your roommate a date (go on a fun date event like L.A with your floor, Alpha Halloween Event, Floor Retreats, Etc.

Local Area: La Mirada...Fun and Close to the Beach and L.A. La Mirada has many area attractions: Splash Waterpark, La Mirada Theater, and the near by park. Also, there is a nearby mall (The Brea Mall), Target, Albertsons, Stater Brothers, Stein Mart, and Marshall's. The city of La Mirada is very safe, clean, and nice. The town loves Biola Students and there are many job opportunities fromlocal's.

Drug Safety: So-Called Undercover – Since Biola University is a Christian school, students know best not to pull out a drug scene in public. But instead they do it Undercover. But of course things are revealed eventually.

Transportation: we cars, and campus safety will drive you if you're hurt

3 College Junior

Parking: thorough in giving tickets, limited parking this year because of consruction of a parking structure

3 College Junior

Administration: student contract restricts use of alcohol, drugs, and other behaviors

Off-Campus Dining: there are a lot of cheap places close to school. even within walking distance, and even more. being this close to LA is great.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Totally Safe – it seems really good. safety and security are great theyre very responsive. my roommates and i never lock our door and feel completely comfortable doing so.

4 College Senior

Administration: Quite Strict – NO drinking, or smoking and only members of the opposite sex in your room during certain hours. I think that is a benefit though. Actually pay for learning not drunken stupidity.

4 College Senior

Drug Safety: At Biola we are not allowed to drink or smoke. It rarely happens and when it does, action from administration is taken.

5 College Senior

Academics: Intercultural Studies – I love my major, it allows me to learn more and more about how to effective interact with people around the world. My major also requires that I go on a 6-8 week cross-cultural internship, I am currently in Ireland while others are all across the world. It is amazing to know the people from Biola are sharing God's love all around the world! I really love the professors as well, they all care about you personally and want to invest in your life.

Scholarships: a little more guidance would be appreciated but overall the financial aid offices are adequate

2 College Sophomore

Transportation: Walking Works – other than the we cars, which are kind of pricey, walking is pretty much the best option if you don't have a car

3 College Sophomore

Parking: the parking can be very hot or miss. One can leave a spot to return a while later and find nothing available. Also the lots fill up rather quickly.

4 College Sophomore

Technology: Every so often the internet it slow, but overall it is very fast. One night it totally shut down from early evening till the next morning which was a huge inconvenience. The tech department is very helpful.

Athletics: Sports Don't Matter – At Biola University, sports are not a big deal. Especially Women's sports but that's everywhere. There is no football team. No one supports track, swim, cross country, tennis or sofball. Men's basketball has the most student involvement, next comes Men's soccer.

1 College Senior

Greek Life: I don't even think there is this at all on Biola's campus.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: Biola has a beautiful campus, there is construction going on which will make it more astonishing. There aren't that many big classrooms but that isn't needed because there aren't that many students. There are only two good dorms that everyone wants to live in, the others are old. The school is also admitting more students which is crowding the dorms since freshmen have to live on campus unless they commute. The gymasium is a good size and the soccer field is nice but plain. The cafeteria is nice but it can get very crowded at times.

3 College Senior

Athletics: Some People Care Other's Don't – Some people at Biola care greatly about the school's teams and I've heard they do very well, but a large portion of the students at Biola don't have much interest in following them. They seem to be about average.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: Great If You Can Find Enough People to Split It With. I know some people who live off campus but it's way to expensive unless you can get about 5+ roommates it seems.

Biola boasts an amazing Christian fellowship that's focused on delivering the Gospel, not only to its students, but to the world surrounding it. In taking classes and attending lectures, students feel much more apt to take on the world, not only with renewed and strengthened faith, but also with a professional education.

Biola can be an adjustment. But once you get involved with on-campus jobs and school events, it becomes much easier. After spending time with the students and faculty, you'll come to realize that you'll never find a school quite like this. But it takes a little bit of work at first. Biola's teaching is amazing, and the community is unparalleled. Nowhere else on Earth can students strike up random conversations with anyone and be able to "Facebook-friend" them and ask them to coffee the very next day. If you value your education and want to surround yourself with God-fearing students serving each other and the Lord, then Biola is the place for you!
