3 College Freshman

Diversity: More Whites Than Other Kinds – When I first entered Biola I was a bit overwhelmed by the Caucasian race. There were so many compared to blacks and hispanics. However, I learned to look past it.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: The Earlier the Better. I would of love to start my process earlier but couldnt until early july which didnt allow enough time to get classes or hear even my financial aid.

2 College Freshman

Transportation: Its Expensive and Needs Work. Its way too expensive. I would love to see them lower the enrollment and make the cost of school cheaper but what you going to do.

5 College Freshman

Technology: Wireless and Beyond – The computer aspects of biola are top notch. There is some walking distance and not everything is close by but all accessible and awesome!

4 College Junior

Academics: psychology program is very unique at biola. It integrates both psychological and theological perspectives. All of my professors are well trained in their own interested fields of psychology.

3 College Junior

Local Area: It is safe in LaMirada, and there are many shopping malls in this area.

4 College Freshman

Local Area: Biola University, located in the beautiful city of La Mirada, is surrounded by SPLASH, a city funded water park, Creek park, and the dollar theatre. Biola's students are extremely spirited, especially during basketball games against Azusa Pacific University, our rivals. Biola University offers a good balance between the spiritual and the academic.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: Film Major Requires a Bit More – The process of getting into the Cinema and Media Arts major requires a portfolio of a short response saying what you want to accomplish and why you love film, so make sure to express yourself and brag a little. They want the best, so give one quality video of your work and recommendations. If you are not fully experienced, that is fine, just put your best in...they only reject students who do not put in an effort. Also join the film programs on campus and stay in contact with the department!

4 College Sophomore

Academics: They Cater to Students – Biola University is a Christian university, so every student has to take bible courses. Biola does have good programs for almost every major with quality professors who always stay in contact with their students. The registration process for students who have difficulties paying for school is nice, they try to find the best solution for you.

3 College Sophomore

Local Area: No Car, Not Much Entertainment – La Mirada, CA is not exactly a college town so unless relaxing at local restaurants is your thing, you will need some sort of transportation to see the cities nearby. The city of Brea has a lot to offer with comedy clubs and shopping areas and downtown Fullerton with restaurants, old theatres and Fender Museum. And if you are a sports fan, the Angels Stadium is nearby. There is a lot to offer in the nearby Los Angeles County and Orange County, it is just that Biola is located in the smaller part of it.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: Elementary Education – I have just changed my major, but so far the elementary education program seems very rewarding, engaging and concentrates on developing preparedness for the future.

4 College Sophomore

Local Area: Good Scene – It's a good place to be and there are quite a few churches and shopping areas within two-three miles.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: Bible Minor – The Bible program at Biola University is phenomenal. My Bible classes are always the most challenging and the most rewarding. The professors are so engaging and they truly desire to stretch your mind to further your growth.

5 Recent Alumnus

Athletics: Athletes from all over come to Biola not only for a good education but also for a solid growth in athletics. Biola is very proud of their sports teams.

3 Recent Alumnus

Campus Housing: To be honest I have not stayed at the campus dorms but from what I can see they are extremely nice.

5 Recent Alumnus

Health & Safety: Biola goes above and beyone to ensure that its students are well taken care of.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: The Social Scene – One of the major reasons why I decided to choose Biola was the social scene. Every one is so welcoming and accepting. We all share similar morals and values which makes it easier to speak openly about any topic. The people are loving and the professors are even available and strive to be on a first name basis with their students.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: Culturally Diverse – There's people at Biola from literally all over the world. As far as religion, Biola is very much a Christian university.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Food: Great Cafeteria With Options – We have a pretty new cafeteria with lots of space and options for food and places to sit inside or outside. There's always several options for food and the continuous dining makes it easy to fit meals around class schedules. But while the food is great, you have to remember it's still a cafeteria, not mom's home cooking. It can still get old.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: Professors Help Us Succeed – The professors here try hard to make sure we succeed by helping us understand and providing office hours and other ways to make themselves available. They expect us to earn our grades and learn the material.

4 College Junior

Administration: Social Lives – The contact can sometimes be a big pain. When you are 21 it is even worse.

4 College Junior

Technology: Had some issues with wifi but it has been fast and for the most part reliable.

4 College Junior

Academics: Psychology and Christian Thought – Loved the course. Hard work and a lot of time spent studying but so worth it in the end. Love the material and will really miss that class.

5 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: It Is Not Tolerated – i have had friends get kicked out of the university because they were in possesion of drugs/alcohol. our school may give a warning, i'm not entirely sure of the policy bc i don't do that stuff. but i know that if you get caught with it more than once, you're pretty much out.

4 College Sophomore

Party Scene: Pretty Fun and Innocent – it seems to be pretty quiet and most people are in theirs dorms hanging out with friends watching movies, talking, or studying. occasionally there will be parties off campus, but most of them try to keep it dry and respectable. often if there is a group going out to see a movie and go to a bonfire at the beach we will try to invite as many people as we can, there always seems to be a group going out if you're the type to want to go out a lot.

Biola boasts an amazing Christian fellowship that's focused on delivering the Gospel, not only to its students, but to the world surrounding it. In taking classes and attending lectures, students feel much more apt to take on the world, not only with renewed and strengthened faith, but also with a professional education.

Biola can be an adjustment. But once you get involved with on-campus jobs and school events, it becomes much easier. After spending time with the students and faculty, you'll come to realize that you'll never find a school quite like this. But it takes a little bit of work at first. Biola's teaching is amazing, and the community is unparalleled. Nowhere else on Earth can students strike up random conversations with anyone and be able to "Facebook-friend" them and ask them to coffee the very next day. If you value your education and want to surround yourself with God-fearing students serving each other and the Lord, then Biola is the place for you!
