Scholarships: The system doesn't accept grades above 4.0 or give more than 1 scholarship. This makes it pointless for students who work extremely hard to be well-rounded and achieve great grades, since standardized tests hold more sway than their GPA. This doesn't reward hard work. The fact that I couldn't receive an academic scholarship and a leadership scholarship from the school, despite my high school leadership commitments, put even more financial stress on my family. It doesn't make sense to do that because usually the students in leadership are overachievers with high grades. Both issues just keep the school from giving hardworking students the money they need.

Greek Life: I don't know too much about the Greek life on campus.

Campus Housing: Love the sense of community in the dorms and very clean and pretty looking. It is very spacious and in community bathrooms and the dorm rooms itself.

Local Area: There is a lot more things to do than Sacramento. But Sacramento is much more diverse.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: A lot of support for our school teams. A lot of people are very involved, a lot of people come and support and cheer, everyone wearing school colors and are teams do really good are very competitive.

Administration: I still can't believe that you rarely see dance clubs or classes because rumor has it that it can lead to sex.

Off-Campus Housing: There are a lot of off-campus opportunities, however, the lottery that takes place in order to get into those opportunities kind of rips you off unless you are given a good time slot to choose your housing. The cost is fine, convenience for campus is amazing, parking has gotten a lot better with the new parking structures, safety is great. The only bad thing is the availability.

Campus Housing: I love my dorm! The community that each floor has is so great and I feel so fortunate that I have the opportunity to be a part of Resident Life. Plus, it's almost always clean on our floors and bathrooms. We have AC and a ton of space in our rooms.

Health & Safety: Our campus is very safe. I haven't heard stories of any incidents or have any experience of this so far.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: My admissions counselor went out on a limb to help me be able to attend Biola. I struggled to find numerous scholarships and ways to receive extra money. As hard as it was, I'm glad I went through it all because I'm content here at Biola.

Off-Campus Dining: There are a few places that I've tried that have been pretty tasty, but sometimes it's hard to find a new place that's accessible in regards to time and transportation.

3 College Freshman

Administration: Parking and Safety Rules are pretty strict. Dorm rules/Open Hours are pretty relaxed, but most residents follow the rules anyway.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: We aren't primarily a school that athletes flock toward to play for, but our sports life is pretty great for the people who do come to play here. Almost everyone attends the games and supports our athletes.

Local Area: I'm from Los Angeles, and La Mirada is very similar. The weather is great and it has a great community. It's pretty quiet for the most part, but there are many different shopping areas, restaurants, and activities to go in the area.

College Freshman

Greek Life: We don't really have Greek life on Campus at all.

Off-Campus Housing: I'm a freshman and still live off campus, but for the people that live off campus that I have met, they all enjoy it. Everyone has had good things to say about the buildings themselves and the resident life as well.

College Freshman

Party Scene: Being a Christian University, we don't really host parties and are content with that fact. Our social life and community is amazing because we truly value one another in Christ. We love to meet and get to know each other more and are able to do such without engaging in the wild party scene.

Biola boasts an amazing Christian fellowship that's focused on delivering the Gospel, not only to its students, but to the world surrounding it. In taking classes and attending lectures, students feel much more apt to take on the world, not only with renewed and strengthened faith, but also with a professional education.

Biola can be an adjustment. But once you get involved with on-campus jobs and school events, it becomes much easier. After spending time with the students and faculty, you'll come to realize that you'll never find a school quite like this. But it takes a little bit of work at first. Biola's teaching is amazing, and the community is unparalleled. Nowhere else on Earth can students strike up random conversations with anyone and be able to "Facebook-friend" them and ask them to coffee the very next day. If you value your education and want to surround yourself with God-fearing students serving each other and the Lord, then Biola is the place for you!
