3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: There is not much widely known alumni work going on at the school. The school is not widely known, so would not really know what the literal value would be. However, going through the schooling gives students a different perspective on life than a public or secular school would.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: It is comparable to high school. The gym is in fact the size of a high school gym. It is fun to go to some games, but there is not much spirit from the fans.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I have only had minor delays in receiving financial aid and assistance. Though I had these difficulties, the people at the Financial Aid office were easy to work with. Therefore, it went smoothly and I was able to receive the money I need.

Off-Campus Dining: The off campus dining options are okay. There are basic fast food places around, as well as Panera and Starbucks. The rest of the options on Imperial blvd are more numerous. The farther a student goes, the more options there are. However, for those with no car, there is no variety, and certainly nothing healthy.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: It's awesome to live on campus. Students are close to the cafeteria, close to classes, and close to anything else they need. However, there is absolutely nothing social to do on the weekends. I am not picky, and do not expect parties or huge events. However, on the weekends it is a ghost town.

Guys & Girls: Very attractive Christ centered young men and women looking to love God before themselves!

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: They are everywhere sometimes a little obnoxious but do a good job!

2 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The dorms that they show in the tour are the best dorms, the rest are pretty old and run down!

Local Area: La Mirada has the highest tax rate in California, which sucks. However, Biola is close to LA, the beach, the mountains, basically whatever you want.

4 College Sophomore

Administration: Biola looks out for the students' best interests. There really isn't room for sex, drugs, alcohol, etc. Biola's goal is to promote an environment where God's commands are fulfilled, and they seek to support that by enforcing their rules.

Party Scene: Biola's "parties are safe and involve clean fun. No drugs/alcohol, just people looking to dance and goof off. Everyone looks out for each other, too. The "parties" are school events and are super cool.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: The area is not exactly super safe. My parents bought my sister pepper spray when she was living in the school's off-campus apartments because it just isn't a great area when you step off campus, especially at night. I wouldn't live in the Block apartments because it's not a good area and because it's inconvenient. Housing in the area usually doesn't involve heating/AC, which is not good if students have health issues. There's also not a lot of parking in the Block apartment area and the neighbors hate that Biola students park on the street.

Athletics: Student support and school spirit are huge at Biola. The athletes love what they do because it doesn't drive their whole life. They are encouraged to do their best and love what they are doing, but to keep God first and realize that athletics isn't everything in life. It may be a big part of their life, but it isn't the only thing in life.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I plan to have an internship because it's necessary for anyone who wants to get a job after college. The best internship would be a paid one, though, because Biola is really expensive. I have been a teaching assistant both in high school and at Biola, as well as in the field of dance.

2 College Sophomore

Scholarships: The system doesn't accept grades above 4.0 or give more than 1 scholarship. This makes it pointless for students who work extremely hard to be well-rounded and achieve great grades, since standardized tests hold more sway than their GPA. This doesn't reward hard work. The fact that I couldn't receive an academic scholarship and a leadership scholarship from the school, despite my high school leadership commitments, put even more financial stress on my family. It doesn't make sense to do that because usually the students in leadership are overachievers with high grades. Both issues just keep the school from giving hardworking students the money they need.

Health & Safety: There are never students crimes associated with this campus.

Greek Life: I don't know too much about the Greek life on campus.

Campus Housing: Love the sense of community in the dorms and very clean and pretty looking. It is very spacious and in community bathrooms and the dorm rooms itself.

Party Scene: There are no parties at school unless it is a school event where the a group on campus puts it together, fun parties are off campus like house parties or clubs

Local Area: There is a lot more things to do than Sacramento. But Sacramento is much more diverse.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: A lot of support for our school teams. A lot of people are very involved, a lot of people come and support and cheer, everyone wearing school colors and are teams do really good are very competitive.

3 College Freshman

Administration: I still can't believe that you rarely see dance clubs or classes because rumor has it that it can lead to sex.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: There are a lot of off-campus opportunities, however, the lottery that takes place in order to get into those opportunities kind of rips you off unless you are given a good time slot to choose your housing. The cost is fine, convenience for campus is amazing, parking has gotten a lot better with the new parking structures, safety is great. The only bad thing is the availability.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I love my dorm! The community that each floor has is so great and I feel so fortunate that I have the opportunity to be a part of Resident Life. Plus, it's almost always clean on our floors and bathrooms. We have AC and a ton of space in our rooms.

Biola boasts an amazing Christian fellowship that's focused on delivering the Gospel, not only to its students, but to the world surrounding it. In taking classes and attending lectures, students feel much more apt to take on the world, not only with renewed and strengthened faith, but also with a professional education.

Biola can be an adjustment. But once you get involved with on-campus jobs and school events, it becomes much easier. After spending time with the students and faculty, you'll come to realize that you'll never find a school quite like this. But it takes a little bit of work at first. Biola's teaching is amazing, and the community is unparalleled. Nowhere else on Earth can students strike up random conversations with anyone and be able to "Facebook-friend" them and ask them to coffee the very next day. If you value your education and want to surround yourself with God-fearing students serving each other and the Lord, then Biola is the place for you!
