Parking: Parking can be really bad sometimes. Even if you have a permit, it won't guarantee you a spot. You have to get on campus at least 30 minutes before your class to find a spot and get to class on time. Permit costs are not as bad as other schools. Sometimes when there are events going on at school, you have to arrive even earlier to grab a spot. Also, every year they make less and less parking spaces for students as it goes to the staff and faculty. You really have to make best of your time with parking.

Majors: I love Biola. It was definitely the best choice for me. The Public Relations program (my major) is fabulous and I love the community here.

Off-Campus Dining: Restaurants are plentiful and very reasonable. Lots of great Mexican or Asian food choices!

Health & Safety: I often see campus security officers and get safety updates through my school email.

Local Area: Biola University is located in the city of La Mirada, California. La Mirada is part of a county called Orange County, mostly middle and upper middle class and some of your very richest people reside here. There are plenty of attractions like Disneyland, Children's Museum of Science, Interactive play theater, and some of the best beaches southern California have to offer. On the other hand there is the Performing Arts Theater, Knots Berry Farm Park, and the many more attractions to tame the savage beast inside. The campus is usually busheling with students of all age and ethnicities. Most people are friendly and there are 4 different places to eat and meet your friends; plenty of parking with green belts throughout where one can go to meditate and look within. The Profs are extremely helpful they will go beyond the call of duty to help a student. Most of them write their own text book or have a book for you to read. The weather is warm to hot but because it is near the beach it usually 10 degrees cooler than inland. We have one of the best libraries to accommodate all the study needs of the students. It is also a friendly place to meet a study partner. There are also individual study areas or rooms that the students has access to. Biola is a very pleasant community to be a part of. Food is plentiful and the students have a variety to choose from. Tickets for Intervarsity games are usually available, especially on the weekends. The community loves and supports the students when there is a need. Campus safety record shows only a few incidents requiring attention within the past 3 years.

Campus Quality: We Are on Fire for Christ – Because it is a Christian school, what sets it apart from other Colleges is the curriculum. Everybody is required to take 30 units of bible classes. We are also required to take 30 hours of Chapel per semester.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: It Is Okay – Everybody is really friendly and the dorms are a lot cheaper than any other housing options I could find.

Drug Safety: Biola is strict about not using any drugs or alcohol while enrolled there. Every student encourages other people to not smoke or partake in drugs, because it could get you kicked out.

Majors: This is a fantastic place to get a Biblical Studies degree and the Talbot Graduate School for Biblical Studies is EXCELLENT

Majors: The process of getting a Biblical Studies degree required no special application process other than meeting with my advisor

Local Area: La Mirada – biola is nestled in the small and very safe community of La Mirada, CA; a short distance from downtown LA and beaches, easily accessible by local airports (can avoid LAX).

Overall Experience: Biola is a FANTASTIC place that gives you the tools/knowledge you need to live out your faith in whatever career you choose. The professors are wonderful; the work load is do-able; the students are great! There is no way I would go anywhere else to school.

Administration: Biola is a christian university that practices what it preaches!

3 College Junior

Campus Food: Being on a gluten-free diet, my dining choices are limited but are available.

4 College Junior

Scholarships: Biola University provides most students with some financial aid, and God seems to provide the students in need of additional aid with the money they need to attend.

3 College Junior

Transportation: Although the school offers no "official" transportation, the student population is very generous in offering off-campus transportation to activities, airports and local doctors.
The school does provide intermittent shuttle service for shopping.

Scholarships: Process Could Have Been More Student Friendly – I've had to call everyday for the past month to solidify my financial aid. If I hadn't I'd probably be paying $15,000 more. I really had to get what I wanted myself. And I'm living off campus to save money. I wasn't impressed with the financial aid.

Guys & Girls: The Biola dating scene can definitely be a bit odd. Mainly because there are a select group of people dating solely for marriage. So, often times people don't casually date. However, I have many friends who are in awesome relationships with people they met at Biola. So it really depends on each individual's scenario. It's a great school with a great community.

Health & Safety: Totally Safe Campus! Biola is well-lit and the campus safety staff are incredibly capable and well-trained. If you are ever nervous to walk to your car alone, just give dispatch a quick call and someone will come and escort you to your vehicle. Biola's crime rate is very low. There were only a handful of petty thefts my entire 4-year school career here.

Campus Quality: Awesome School – I love this school!! The campus is so alive with positive indiviuals, both students and staff. The staff was extremely helpful throughout the entire admissions process.

Majors: Don't Be Afraid! I am a current Psychology student. I have enjoyed the openness of the staff in the department as they often meet with me and help keep me on track. I plan on having an internship as I study abroad this semester! There are specific requirements but they department is extremely helpful in making sure all requirements have been met. It was slightly daunting to find an internship but I realized that Biola's psychology department urges you to get one because psychology is about engaging with people!

Campus Housing: Community, Community, Community! I have lived in several dorms as well as lived in off-campus housing. I have enjoyed each dorm as they usually have different set ups: triple, doubles, community bathrooms, suit bathroom styles, ect. Every dorm is unique with different traditions, amazing Resident Assistants, and great community. The one downer about housing is the process you go through after freshman year.

Health & Safety: A Is for Always Secure – Biola University's Department of Campus Safety makes great efforts towards securing Biola's property, informing and equipping students to be aware of their surroundings, and finally, they focus on immediate and great customer service. Campus police are present during all hours of the day. As a student, I appreciate that they are friendly, answer questions and respond to both small and great circumstances immediately. During late hours they offer safety escorts to all students to ensure their safety and as well as ensure that students feel comfortable on their own campus. The face of Campus Safety, the Chief, is ever present. He offers self-defense courses several times a semester and speaks in on-campus seminars often about self-protection and crime prevention. In the event of an emergency the campus is informed through text messages, email and phone calls. I definitely feel safe being informed and aware. Finally, the Campus Safety Administration office is always of great help. They are patient in answering both student and parent questions. Although the student population is growing the Campus Safety Department has responded in positive ways by increasing their officers, cadets and gate attendants. I feel safe knowing that 24/7 Biola's campus is always secure!

Campus Housing: Great Community – People build each other up in the dorms rather than tearing them down. The dorms are all nice to live in, with air conditioning in most of them and wifi in all of them.

Biola boasts an amazing Christian fellowship that's focused on delivering the Gospel, not only to its students, but to the world surrounding it. In taking classes and attending lectures, students feel much more apt to take on the world, not only with renewed and strengthened faith, but also with a professional education.

Biola can be an adjustment. But once you get involved with on-campus jobs and school events, it becomes much easier. After spending time with the students and faculty, you'll come to realize that you'll never find a school quite like this. But it takes a little bit of work at first. Biola's teaching is amazing, and the community is unparalleled. Nowhere else on Earth can students strike up random conversations with anyone and be able to "Facebook-friend" them and ask them to coffee the very next day. If you value your education and want to surround yourself with God-fearing students serving each other and the Lord, then Biola is the place for you!
