Administration: Because this is a Christian school, there are very strict rules about drinking and drugs. No student may drink alcohol while enrolled in classes, including holidays (Christmas break excluded). There is also no tolerance for drugs or smoking of any sort. The school also has strict rules regarding visitation in dorms. There are open hours three or four times a week, and visitors of the opposite gender may visit the dorm floors at those times only. Any guy found on a girls' floor or girl found on a guys' floor outside of those visiting times will be written up. Regarding academics, the school has the same requirements as other colleges and aren't overly strict.

Off-Campus Dining: There aren't too many dining options within walking distance of campus, which makes it a bit difficult for those without cars to eat off campus. But there are lots of good options about a ten minute drive from campus. Many of these stores offer our students coupons and a few of them offer discounts. But students coupons and discounts aren't entirely necessary because the food is relatively cheap. Most of the food is the same, but it's good.

Off-Campus Housing: The university offers several off-campus apartments for students, and many of them are priced the same as the dorms, maybe a little less. These apartments are decently close to campus, but they are also very close to shopping and other commercial centers. There is also a regular shuttle system that runs to and from the apartments.

Scholarships: The tuition for my school is very high, but I was offered several financial aid opportunities, including grants and scholarships. There are a wide range of scholarships and grants offered, and even though I personally didn't qualify for all of them, they'd be extremely helpful for other students.
The financial aid process itself was fairly painless and I did not struggle with it too much. I was selected for verification and that always is a hassle, but the financial aid office made it simple and easy to follow. Overall, I am very pleased with their system.

Guys & Girls: The guys and girls at my school are mainly conservative. Most of them are nice and friendly, and I've only come across a few who aren't. However, a lot of them come from a conservative Christian home, and therefore tend to have a rather naïve view of life. This also creates a "bubble" of safety that the students retreat to when they're confronted with something that they don't know how to handle. Many of them also have a "high school" mentality and are only primarily concerned with finding a spouse as soon as possible.

Technology: The school library has several computers (and many different types and brands) for students to use, but because so many students use them it's often difficult to find one that is not in use. But when you do find a free computer, it is easy to use and the quality is very good. The internet connections in these computers is relatively fast, and it is not difficult to open programs or documents.

Health & Safety: There is very little crime on campus and very few instances where students feel unsafe or at risk. You can guarantee seeing at least one campus security officer when walking to class or pretty much anywhere on campus. Although I've never had to call campus security, I've been told that they take a while to respond when there's an actual emergency. And because there isn't much crime, they tend to get a little overzealous about minor incidents and create a scene.

Weather: The weather is pretty constant and rarely gets higher than 80 degrees or lower than 60. Because there is very little cloud cover, it often feels much hotter than it really is. It doesn't rain much and neither is it often windy. This makes it ideal to be outside and do things with friends, but the heat does make it difficult to do anything for any long period of time.

Overall Experience: It's been great. Concerning my field of study, you're not going to find a better group of philosophers to study with and study under. Glad to have this opportunity.

Health & Safety: Never had to worry about anything on campus. Can leave my laptop and bag on a table, walk away, and come back to it just as it was left.

Off-Campus Dining: You are near every possible city you would want to be by when it comes to good eateries in So Cal. Just Yelp near Biola and you'll see what I mean.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Not bad compared to large public schools. Everything is within a 10 minute walking distance.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: It's what you would expect from a campus dining service. Not bad, but sometimes you may want to get out and eat elsewhere.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: Good food, good spots to chill, and they aren't far from campus. Fullerton is close by and the heart of Los Angeles isn't too hard to get to. If you look, you'll find places to have fun.

Off-Campus Housing: Good location, reasonable prices, and usually easy to find a place to rent.

4 College Freshman

Campus Quality: Beside the funny looking bungalows for spiritual formation and the high school architecture of some of the undergrad classes, the campus is beautiful. Facilities are up-to-date and reliable. Anything you could need is within a 5 minute walking distance.

5 College Freshman

Academics: You won't a better experience when it comes to connecting with professors. Research does not take precedence for the professors. Rather, it is the students they care most about. If you want to learn inside and outside the classroom, then this is the place.

4 College Freshman

Administration: It's what you would expect from a Christian evangelical school. Some of it may seem unnecessary, but it does help maintain an overall pleasant experience on campus.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: It's like every other school; there's the good, the bad, and the ugly. Overall, I have had a pleasant experience with students on campus.

Parking: Parking is great if you buy a permit, but I choose not to. If you're courageous enough to live permit free, then expect an adventure when looking for a spot, because the non-permitted, free spots fill up quickly.

Weather: Great temperature. Rarely rains, rarely cold or hot

4 College Student

Technology: Computers and Internet availability is nice!

Diversity: Acceptance of who you is very positive.

Campus Housing: Great atmosphere, nice quality but kind of pricey.

Off-Campus Dining: Its decent. Not anything extraordinary.

Biola boasts an amazing Christian fellowship that's focused on delivering the Gospel, not only to its students, but to the world surrounding it. In taking classes and attending lectures, students feel much more apt to take on the world, not only with renewed and strengthened faith, but also with a professional education.

Biola can be an adjustment. But once you get involved with on-campus jobs and school events, it becomes much easier. After spending time with the students and faculty, you'll come to realize that you'll never find a school quite like this. But it takes a little bit of work at first. Biola's teaching is amazing, and the community is unparalleled. Nowhere else on Earth can students strike up random conversations with anyone and be able to "Facebook-friend" them and ask them to coffee the very next day. If you value your education and want to surround yourself with God-fearing students serving each other and the Lord, then Biola is the place for you!
