Off-Campus Dining: The off-campus dining at Biola University is very convenient. There is a Stator Bros that is walking distance from the University Drive. There are a lot of restaurants and eateries in the area as well. With Biola's free student shuttle service, it provides easier and convenient access to transportation outside of the campus.

Health & Safety: No problems. They do a great job keeping everyone safe and healthy.

Local Area: La Mirada has a few nice spots and places to visit. It's not exactly a fascinating city, though being in Southern California means there is access to all that is great (or not great) about life in L.A. Public transportation is terrible and so a car is a must. There is sometimes too much to do in the wider Los Angeles area.

Academics: I love the program. It's great, challenging and very flexible. All the professors have been passionate and knowledgeable about their subject matter.

Academics: It's great! Professors are very helpful. Coursework is challenging but engaging.

Scholarships: I have received a pretty good amount of Financial Aid and the school has been very good about communicating with me regarding everything I need in order to attend. The only problem I have is just not having enough money period for tuition.

4 College Freshman

Academics: I came to Biola to study apologetics the first time around. The program was so amazing that I decided to do another graduate degree at the institution. The professors are passionate about what they teach, knowledgeable in their field, and willing to meet with students outside of class. They truly nurture knowledge in the students and a love for learning, and do so with the humility and inquisitiveness necessary for honest education to take place.

Campus Food: Biola is know to have one of the best cafeterias in the state. Along with that, there are three additional cafes, a coffee cart, and a food truck to choose from for meals between classes or late at night. I would suggest purchasing the the 175 block meal plan with flex, because you can eat at anytime as opposed to the weekly meal plan.

Off-Campus Housing: Biola offers several off-campus apartment options which are all monitored by campus safety. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to get into these apartments due to the school's lottery selection system. Many students also rent nearby houses in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Local Area: La Mirada is a fairly cozy little town with ample coffee shops and places to eat for a college community. It is also in a good location as it is 40 minutes from the beach, 30 minutes from LA and Hollywood, and 15 minutes from Disneyland.

Parking: There is parking on the street off campus, but sometimes it is full. There is a parking structure in the back but its not so close to class and the parking lot is great!!

3 College Junior

Technology: The computer areas are always nice and tidy. There's enough room to spread your stuff out and be somewhat comfortable.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Aside from the athletic wear that you see all the athletes in, typically it is relaxed and boho style clothes. It's easy to make friends here.

4 College Junior

Party Scene: There's a small place to go to have a good time dancing. When I mean dancing, I mean square dancing! Listening to country music and enjoying peoples' good company.

Campus Food: The food on campus is delicious. It's a great place to go especially because it's all you can eat!

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: While on campus i have seen a pretty good diversity. There are mostly Caucasian and Asian students on campus but there are also many other ethnicity's on campus.

4 College Sophomore

Technology: BIOLA has many computers available, wireless around campus and a print shop. There really isn't any crowding.

5 College Sophomore

Administration: There are policies put in place to keep BIOLA a safe, and modest learning environment. There are dress codes, codes of conduct, a policy against any drinking smoking or drug use one campus. I feel safe while on campus.

3 Recent Alumnus

Majors: My goal was to get a degree and I accomplished that. I probably would have chosen a different school or different major if I had to do it all over again. I loved Biola, but I think people don't respect it as much as say UCLA or UCSD.

2 Recent Alumnus

Majors: I worked full time and attended school part time. Most of the opportunities are in the LA/OC region so don't think you're going to be getting great connections at an exotic place.

Health & Safety: Campus Safety in our school is very protective of their students. They drive around early morning to late at night (maybe even 24/7) making sure everyone is comfortable walking alone in campus any time. They are willing to provide rides for students who are not too comfortable walking late in school while there are police on every entrance of the gate to make sure people who enter the campus are from the school late at night.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: Students are very supportive of the Biola team. In terms of players, they are very dedicated on staying fit and motivated to practice even late at night or very early in the morning.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: Religiously, Biola University is an evangelical Christian community, and all students are required to sign a statement of faith upon applying for admission. The school is very good at addressing the topics surrounding diversity and reconciliation by holding public conversations with professors, conferences, chapels, and events every once in awhile to recognize the diversity of the students, whether it be ethnic, racial, political, or otherwise. There are many opportunities to meet people from similar backgrounds as you, as well as getting to know those from completely different backgrounds. It all enhances the great community at Biola.

Campus Food: There are four dining options on campus. The biggest main one is the cafeteria, known to students as "the caf," which offers different buffet-style dining options at every meal; it also has some constants like always having cereal and yogurt at breakfast, and always having a salad bar at lunch and dinner. When you don't have enough time to sit down and eat, there's also the "Eagles' Nest," which offers more fast-food-type items and is a lot like a food court, and there's the "Talon," which doesn't offer as many options as the two previous locations, but also offers coffee and tea beverages. Then there's "Common Grounds," the on-campus coffee shop, which has everything you could order at Starbucks and then some!
To pay for meals, most students get a meal plan, which varies in price and number of meals per week or per semester. Each meal plan also comes with "flex dollars" which can be used like money at any of the on-campus dining locations.

Academics: The academics at Biola are great! There are many general and unique class options with varying workloads. The professors are really good teachers who care about your life beyond the classroom. The advising faculty is also really good about helping you figure out which classes to take and how to fit them into your schedule, and they also care about you beyond school.

Biola boasts an amazing Christian fellowship that's focused on delivering the Gospel, not only to its students, but to the world surrounding it. In taking classes and attending lectures, students feel much more apt to take on the world, not only with renewed and strengthened faith, but also with a professional education.

Biola can be an adjustment. But once you get involved with on-campus jobs and school events, it becomes much easier. After spending time with the students and faculty, you'll come to realize that you'll never find a school quite like this. But it takes a little bit of work at first. Biola's teaching is amazing, and the community is unparalleled. Nowhere else on Earth can students strike up random conversations with anyone and be able to "Facebook-friend" them and ask them to coffee the very next day. If you value your education and want to surround yourself with God-fearing students serving each other and the Lord, then Biola is the place for you!
