Academics: Hard workload, small amount of nursing applicants get chosen for the program so it's competitive but an excellent program.

Campus Housing: awesome RA's and nicely kept up buildings, etc.

Drug Safety: Hardly noticible, especially since I don't do drugs.

Party Scene: There is a nightlife but it is well hidden. Biola's contract does not allow consumption of alcohol or drug use. There are many reasons for this but the results are as follows: our campus has way less rape and substance-induced rape, our campus is safer and has less accidents. The main reason why we are a dry campus is so that we do not become a stumbling block to the people who have problems with alcohol and abusing it. We come to Biola because we want to grow in our relationship with God and become the best people we can be. For some people it is no problem to have a glass of wine or some beer (that is where the hidden night life is) and for others it can be a huge problem and temptation. So our school parties don't have alcohol... big deal. We're still cooler than you ;)

Majors: I am in the film program. I enjoy the community immensely and most of our professors are amazing. Being so close to Los Angeles definitely helps us get into the industry and find good internships while still in school. In my program, internships are required in order to graduate. That said, there are of course some downers. Not all of the professors know as much as they should and it is almost impossible to pursue a specific film career that is not directing, editing or cinematography. The equipment room has some good cameras but the people that run it are down right tyrants and will withhold equipment for their own selfish gain. All in all I rate my program B+.

Off-Campus Housing: There are dozens of off campus housing options that are a fraction of the cost of on campus living which is great but there are probably only a handful that are walking distance from the school. This is bad if you don't have a car and/or no way to get to school besides walking. If you live in or near the Biola apartments a shuttle is offered driving back and forth to the school throughout the day which is a great option.

Campus Quality: Biola has dozens of clubs and groups that most likely you will find at least one that you're interested in. I love the variety offered. There is also an honors program that is offered but while it does sound good I don't understand the benefit of taking it.

Campus Housing: I personally have not had the greatest community on the floors that I lived on both years but I have many friends whose floor communities are excellent. Biola's dorms are very clean and well maintained and I love that the dorms aren't too close to main campus, giving you some space from the center of campus. The cost however is steep, if it weren't for the high prices I would continue living on campus.

Campus Quality: Biola's campus is continuing to grow and expand but with that said at least half of the dorms are pretty old. Either not allowing you to control the temperature of the air in the room (central control for the whole building) or no air conditioning period and in La Mirada it's crazy to not at least have the option of air conditioning. The sports facilities they have are in pretty good condition and well maintained. While the dining area is pretty nice the quality of the food isn't the best or healthiest. Regardless this is a excellent school that is continuing to improve. The teachers and the president though are the best! I've never met so many instructors in one place that truly care about what they're teaching and the students that they are teaching. Biola is a blessing.

Majors: Once of Biola's slogans is "Think Biblically... About Everything." They do a great job of doing that. Their integration of the Christian worldview into all fields of study is superb. The philosophy department has some of the best Christian philosophers in the world (seriously).

Transportation: Good luck finding public transportation. There's a bus stop nearby, but I don't know how great it is. However, if you have your own vehicle, then traffic is decent, depending on the direction your traveling and the time of the day.

Local Area: Biola's neighborhood is a fairly quiet suburban area, but it is next to a lot of bustling cities, such as Fullerton and Los Angeles. There aren't too many attractions near campus, except for a strip mall that has a Chuck-e-Cheese, a Panera, and a dollar theater. But, if you have a car, there are some good eateries within a five minute driving radius.

Health & Safety: Campus safety is available at all times and since its a Christian campus, any incidences of assault are sub zero.

Party Scene: People can hang out with their friends in the dorms, play video games, watch television or you can ride your long board late at night around campus. There's house parties on the weekends that are fun and safe but if you go to clubs or bars around the area, people are bound to getting hurt.

Local Area: There is so much to do in Los Angeles county. You can go to Disney Land, Knottsberry Farm, Hollywood, Los Angeles, Beaches. I can keep listing, but, I think you get the gist. The location is perfect.

Parking: There are many lots and a parking structure. The structure will never be full and you can usually find parking under the field. Parking near dorms is difficult but should be resolved once the new structure is finished in May 2014. Do not park in faculty/staff spots before 5pm and after 7am and park as straight as you can or you will be ticketed. Visitor spots are for visitors, handicap spots are for handicap and motorcycle spots are for motorcycles.

Off-Campus Dining: Panera Bread, Starbucks, Subway, Flame Broiler, Burger King and Cold Stone are right down the street as well as Stater Bros, CVS and Albertsons. If you have a car, or someone who can drive you/lend you a car, Pick Up Sticks, Korean BBQ, Chipotle, Juice It Up, Denny's, McDonalds, Chick Fil A and Red Robin are close by on Imperial. Cold Stone offers a Biola discount. Many mom and pop places are close as well. My favorite is Cream and Sugar Cafe (formerly Cafe Azucar) on La Mirada less than a mile from campus.

Campus Housing: I didn't like living in the dorms at Biola. I felt like I had no freedom. We were barred from allowing boys into our rooms on certain days and at certain times. No one can give you an honest answer as to why this is. I lived in Alpha, which is an all girls' dorm. Prepare for girl drama no matter what dorm you live in. The next year I lived in Hope, which is the newest dorm and one of the nicest. There are quiet hours, but it is not always observed and most RAs are chosen based on the possibility of being good rather than actually being good. For the most part they aren't very good at taking care of anyone other than themselves. The lottery causes mayhem across campus with many tears and anger. Dorm life is not as cheap as you would think because you are required to buy a meal plan. Living off campus can be much cheaper than living on campus.

Biola boasts an amazing Christian fellowship that's focused on delivering the Gospel, not only to its students, but to the world surrounding it. In taking classes and attending lectures, students feel much more apt to take on the world, not only with renewed and strengthened faith, but also with a professional education.

Biola can be an adjustment. But once you get involved with on-campus jobs and school events, it becomes much easier. After spending time with the students and faculty, you'll come to realize that you'll never find a school quite like this. But it takes a little bit of work at first. Biola's teaching is amazing, and the community is unparalleled. Nowhere else on Earth can students strike up random conversations with anyone and be able to "Facebook-friend" them and ask them to coffee the very next day. If you value your education and want to surround yourself with God-fearing students serving each other and the Lord, then Biola is the place for you!
