Health & Safety: Campus Safety is constantly patrolling and sending updates on their security measures, and their diligence in promptly issuing parking tickets encourage students to remember that they exist. They definitely make Biola a safe place, and while they are helpful and nice, they can be considered overbearing, especially regarding bicycling or skateboarding in restricted areas on campus.

Drug Safety: Drug Safety isn't a problem, since Biola University has a contract that requires all students to not smoke or drink while an enrolled student. That being the case, any sort of alcohol visibility, usage, peer pressure, or policy enforcement is virtually non-existent, not because it isn't a problem that's dealt with, but because it's really obsolete. Most students abide by the contract, but those who don't work hard to do it as privately as possible.

Diversity: Everyone is accepting. Based on diversity, there are more Caucasians compared to other race. Everyone here are religious, different in denomination, but overall same belief.

Campus Housing: I haven't actually been able to live on-campus, however, one of my best friends lives in the dorms so I visit often. Although it isn't suite-style, based on the people and social events it is pretty nice!

Academics: Communication disorders is more of a smaller group compared to the other majors. However, each major is blessed with great professors. The professors are so humble and really care about the students. I can really tell that they want us to go far!

Scholarships: Due to high expenses (private school), I was a little insecure based on loans but the office of finance was very good to me. They would stay on the phone until all the things I need are finished, call back based on my voice messages, and exceptionally helpful in the office. I was always able to make an appointment and get 1 on 1. The office also knew how much I was struggling and even extended the time for my fees!

Health & Safety: There is always campus polices around Biola Campus. All of them are super generous. The measure of security is high and I feel extremely safe around campus. There are dispatchers before you enter the campus on each side which means you cannot enter unless you have a guest parking ticket or your school ID.

Drug Safety: Biola is a private Christian school and every student who is under 21 must agree to avoid any drug and alcohol scenes. Although we sign a paper in regards, I believe that each student makes the CHOICE of avoiding these types of scenes. It's not forced upon, and honestly I feel that each individual is old enough and capable of making right decisions.

Technology: Biola's internet speed is by far the best compared to the other universities I've been to. There are numerous computers in the library (each floor). A desk with librarians are there to help out with any issues. I have never had any complications regarding printing and internet around Biola!

Campus Housing: The dorms are really wonderful, and are very spacious. The community is absolutely great in the dorms, and I love to hang out with others from my hall.

Party Scene: My school really isn't a party school in the way of drugs and alcohol, so the bar/club scene is really not applicable. However, there are lots of things to do both on and off campus at night, such as going to local eateries or juice and boba tea shops. On campus, there are always things going in the dorms, cafes, the gym, or just around the campus in group spots.

Administration: The campus strictness is probably above average, but has a very positive affect on all of the students.

Guys & Girls: The campus is definitely packed with very "hipster" students, and it's known as a "ring by spring" sort of school, but really, I haven't seen too much of that sort of thing. All of the guys that I have met are very kind and gentlemanly, and chivalry is big among the students. All of the girls are very nice and there's really no "clique" junk, like in high school, going on anywhere. It's very easy to make friends and get involved with the community, and anyone who says otherwise just isn't trying.

Campus Food: The food is really good in the cafeteria and in any of the handful of campus shops. They're very convenient to stop by before or after class and the Tapingo app is a great option for any student who only has a few minutes between classes and still wants something to eat or drink.

4 College Freshman

Majors: I definitely enjoy the program. The English department is wonderful, and the professors are welcoming and available to assist students at any point. The Torrey Honors program is absolutely amazing and I would recommend it to any student in a heartbeat.

Majors: My career goal is to be an author. I have no illusions regarding the difficulty of that field, and I know it will be difficult in the publishing industry, but I feel that the professors of the department at my school are the absolute best people I could go to for assistance and advice to guide me through this process. I'm not at all concerned about finding a job in my field, simply because I know that I will have to have a secondary job on hand while I'm writing to begin with, and the professors in my department are completely able to aid me in gaining the knowledge I need to still work in the field and not lose myself in the slush pile after graduation.

Scholarships: The financial aid process is ongoing and requires a definite level of proactivity on the part of the student. Without your involvement in the process, it will not go very far past scholarship recommendations. As a student who is going through college without any loans whatsoever, it's extremely important to be proactive regarding scholarships and family financial involvement. Some people think it's impossible to go through college without any loans. It's difficult, certainly, but never impossible, and it's worth it so that you don't have to pay off loans for ten to twelve years after graduating college. That makes the work with the scholarships so much easier to bear, knowing that it will keep me from paying back loans in the future.

Biola boasts an amazing Christian fellowship that's focused on delivering the Gospel, not only to its students, but to the world surrounding it. In taking classes and attending lectures, students feel much more apt to take on the world, not only with renewed and strengthened faith, but also with a professional education.

Biola can be an adjustment. But once you get involved with on-campus jobs and school events, it becomes much easier. After spending time with the students and faculty, you'll come to realize that you'll never find a school quite like this. But it takes a little bit of work at first. Biola's teaching is amazing, and the community is unparalleled. Nowhere else on Earth can students strike up random conversations with anyone and be able to "Facebook-friend" them and ask them to coffee the very next day. If you value your education and want to surround yourself with God-fearing students serving each other and the Lord, then Biola is the place for you!
