Guys & Girls

5 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: I get along with everyone guys and girls

3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: It depends on your social group and your own personality.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: There is a saying at Berry. Being a girl, it's somewhat offensive, but I feel that I should share it because it's pretty accurate. For any given guy on campus, "The odds are good, but the goods are odd." There are more girls than guys (that ratio is becoming more equal... possibly?) but a lot of the girls are somewhat eccentric. There's a diverse array of females here, to say the least. The guys say that, but from a girls perspective, the odds are bad and so are the goods. There are plenty of nice guys, but they all have girlfriends. Berry is the kind of campus that students date to marry, so relationships are often very serious. Graduating and getting married on campus shortly after is a trend.

Guys & Girls: Since getting the football team this year, the guy to girl ratio has seriously changed. Berry has a bad rep for guys being heavily outnumbered, but that's not the case anymore. Walking through campus, you see pretty much just as many guys as girls, and a lot of them are at least marginally attractive. At least for this year's freshman class, which includes most of the football team, there are plenty of options if you're outgoing and looking for someone unique.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: There are very few guys on campus and the ones that do go to Berry are very outdoorsy. There are plenty of girls, some friendly, some not.

The student population may not fit the dating tastes of everyone, but the campus has a great group of people if you want lasting friendships. With a three-to-one girl-to-guy ratio on campus, guys are given the upper hand when it comes to dating, and they are well aware, so don't come with high expectations of finding a soul mate.

Although finding a mate might be difficult, finding a great group of friends is not. Berry students come from many different walks of life, and there are ever-growing out-of-state and international student populations. The community is very accepting of opinions and values, as many students appreciate their friends more for their differences than their similarities. Stepping outside of the comfort zone built in high school is the key to making lasting friendships at Berry, and it's a step many students take early on during their time at Berry.

With a girl-to-guy ratio of three to one, there aren't too many relationships on campus, although they do exist. People typically meet at campus events and keep in touch from there, but these interactions typically happen during freshman year. Students who want to date tend to do so off campus, and given the size of the student population, it sounds like a wise choice.
Hookups or Relationships?
Most students at Berry are looking for "the one." The population is small, and guys are given the upper hand, but there is a general consensus that most students are looking for long-term relationships and not a casual hookup.
Dress Code
Students typically dress in a very casual T-shirt-and-jeans way. Some students look as though they stepped out of an American Eagle or Polo ad campaign, while others fall somewhere in between. When someone dresses up at Berry for no particular reason, students notice. Clothing styles are eclectic and welcomed with open arms.
Did You Know?
  • Only people affiliated with Berry (either students, faculty/staff, or alumni) can get married at one of the three chapels on campus.
  • It's not uncommon to hear that a student's parents met at Berry or for a student to meet his or her wife/husband on campus, as well.
