Campus Food

2 College Freshman

Campus Food: It almost seems like they trick you when you come for a campus visit. The food seemed diverse and delicious, but that is only because thats the one day they actually take the time to create diversity. Every day is pasta and chicken. Every, single, day. The cookies are to die for though...

Campus Food: It lets you survive by providing some nutrition. Definitely could be improved.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: Dhall food is okay, but you kinda get tired of it after a while. Valhalla's a great alternative only you have to use flexbucks or real money.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: Gets kind of boring after a while, too many rice and this type dishes

All students are required to have a meal plan—even commuters. The dining options are not vast, as there are only two places where students can dine. The RFoC Dining Hall was recently renovated and is now almost twice the size it used to be, but it's still crowded, and the food quality has yet to improve. Berry has made initiatives to become more health-conscious, but there are not too many options for vegetarians and vegans, who would prefer not to eat the same thing every day.

The dining hall is accessible by ID cards, and most people go around 11 a.m., so if you are in a rush, the to-go option is best for you. One drawback is upperclassmen cannot come and go as they please and are only allowed one meal per time slot, which is an attempt to keep students from running out of meals too early in the week. The other on-campus dining area is called Valhalla, or "Viking Heaven." Valhalla offers sushi, a deli, a burger station, and Mexican food. The items are overpriced, and the quality is not the best, but it is easier to access if you are in a rush. Students typically use their flex bucks here and at the two coffee places: the Berry Bean’ry, which is located in Krannert, and Java City, which is located in the library on campus. In addition, all dining options are not available 24 hours; the dining hall closes at 8 p.m. and Valhalla at 11 p.m.
