Campus Food: I personally don't eat in the cafe at Berklee because the food is pretty lackluster and what you would expect from a cafeteria. But there are plenty of places to eat around Berklee like Wendy's, Chinese food, hot dog joints, pizza places; the options are almost endless. So I recommend skipping out on getting a meal plan and just trying food places around campus.

Majors: Most of the majors at Berklee are very legitimate and full and substance, but there are a couple that I would suggest not taking.

Off-Campus Housing: Living in Boston is very expensive, but surprisingly, living off campus in the city is cheaper than living on campus, so that is a "plus". The largest negative aside from the cost, is probably the realtors/management because they often aren't very helpful because the demand for housing is so high in Boston that they don't need to work with you.

Academics: I'm a Performance major at Berklee, and I've enjoyed it. The work load is completely manageable if the student is self-driven. What I've learned more than anything at Berklee is your education is in your hands meaning that the student has to be motivated to put in the hours to practice, rehearse, study, etc.

Campus Quality: The Facilities at Berklee are range in quality. If you're an MP&E major, you have access to equipment and facilities that would make your mouth water, but many of the practice rooms, for example, are old and often the equipment in them is damaged to some extent.

Academics: The atmosphere at Berklee is great for musicians; creative, lively, and friendly. Academically speaking, the music side of Berklee is amazing. Students have access to not only nice facilities, but also to a vast sea of knowledge from the professors.

Campus Quality: The campus is in the middle of the city; however, Berklee does an excellent job offering students with hangout areas in every building both inside and outside. The campus boasts multiple cafes and lunch spots which host live music events students can perform at frequently. the library is extensive music wise; anything you'll need for any class at Berklee can be found in the library. The school offers high tech computer labs as well to keep up with the music technology classes and projects. Berklee has a very cool student activities center (SAC) as well.

Party Scene: Berklee is located in the heart of Back Bay Boston. You are literally surrounded by every type of club, bar, theater, concert, comedy club, and restaurant. Although most bars have a 21+ rule (strictly enforced due to the high amount of college students in Boston) there are so many clubs and venues with 18+ nights... not to mention the student parties!!

Administration: The campus is monitored by security guards at every door; this is an urban campus so the added security is not only necessary but effective. Campus security guards are very kind and laid back, many students have friendly relationships with the workers. Berklee students are very independent and the school tends to appeal towards older students. school policies are never truly complained about, the rules make sense and if you are a smart, mature individual there should be no problems. Academically, the school (like any college) holds it's students at a high level; however, because the workload is increased due to instrumental practice necessities, teachers are very understanding as long as you are upfront with any difficulties.

Drug Safety: They have counseling, but there is not much they can do to prevent college students from taking drugs unless the students are willing to do so. On campus there is no alcohol or drug use allowed and that's about the extent of it.

Greek Life: There is absolutely NO greek life at Berklee. This is a music college!

Parking: It is difficult to find parking. Be sure to put enough money in the meter. You will be towed!

Local Area: I come from a very small town so I think there is so much to do in Boston. There are many cultural events all year round.

Drug Safety: People who do drugs then to hang with other people doing the same thing.

Campus Food: You get used to the campus food really quickly...but the convenience is great! It's a hot meal ready at any time during the day. It closes during the week around 7:30, which stinks, but it's a buffet-type set up so that's cool. There's always salads, sandwiches, and pizza available. :)

Diversity: There are people from literally EVERYWHERE at Berklee! One of the best things about Berklee is the diversity. You've got people from Sweden; Paraguay; various places in the US including California (lots of people from Cali), New York, Georgia, Texas, Washington D.C., Washington State, Virginia, etc.; Spain; China; Japan; Korea; Russia, etc. !

Health & Safety: There is a security office right in the front of every buildling and inside the 150 building it continues in front of the elevators. It's the safest dorm building to live in. Also, the food is pretty healthy. They have salads and fruits and vegan foods!

Guys & Girls: This school is only 30% female. It is kind of a bummer if you were looking into dating during college.

Athletics: There are no real athletics programs at Berklee, but you can partner with neighboring colleges to play on sports teams. They are adding a new building with a gym next semester.

Scholarships: There could definitely be more scholarship opportunities, but I there are opportunities for those who look hard enough. This school definitely makes you work for your scholarships. It's very competitive.

Scholarships: I had a generally easy time figuring out the financial aid process. My adviser at school is very nice and helpful, and I have received a generous amount of financial aid throughout the last two years. Advice? Fill out the FAFSA early, contact the financial aid office to have a meeting with your adviser so they can put a face to your name, and you're not just a number at the school.

Administration: School policies got a little bit more strict this year with everyone crazy that happened in Boston this year. And I'm happy they did, security at every entrance, and it's now a closed campus. It's hard to say what other policies are going on since I don't live on campus anymore, but I think they are doing a good job with whatever they're doing.

Campus Housing: It was very fun and friendly on campus, as well as convenient. It was extremely close to class, even sometimes in the same building. The food was okay, and it's really expensive to live in the dorms, but had a great experience and it was a nice way to easy into living in a new place.

Administration: Not very strict. I mean, there are rules, but this is a music school, so there's goign to some allowneces

Campus Food: There is a good variety and lots of choices. Prcies are ok
